  • Patrice is my girl...!

  • men in black movi o yea nice song

  • @AndyEberts amen, secondly Will Smith is awesome and a pioneer of hip hop the man can do what he damn pleases. Any hip hop fan knows sampling is all about respect and homage to the people you sample!

  • ...14 dislikes, they must have missed the like button:) I'll excuse you

  • ...omg, no i didn't find this

  • Prince had a crazy crush on Patrice, and i can see why!!! She is Sexy!!

  • I can't believe that there are 14 people who doesn't like this track. I'm glad to see Patrice performing this track many years ago, the crowd got crazy & me too!

  • I remember this...when women sang from their hearts and didn't scream. When they dressed their best and exuded class. When they made us fall in love with them watching them sing...yeah, I remember this.

  • What a talented lady!!....and her mentor Quincy Jones.....what a combination......thanks for this post....absolutely love her voice and the saxophone.....was their a 12" for this?it was the era so i guess there was...Anyone remember Angels,Burnley on a Wednesday night....the wicked maestro Richard Searling spinning the funky sounds!...and the entrance fee...a mere penny and im not joking! Dave from York formerly Burnley

  • LOVE U PATRICE!!! OH HOW I MISS THE 80's!!

  • The perfect song! :)

  • @AndyEberts atually he like the beat so he copied it. and now if i bump this song everyone will go " oh its that man in black song"

  • Will Smith made a classic with this sample.

  • I am going to get my 2 foot long hair braided like that! Love it. So shiney! I want the feather too. :0)

  • @AndyEberts Will Smith was simply in there for the money. Good thing we don't hear from this untalented individual so much these days.

  • George Michael used the bass line on Fast love also-----

  • @joruva I know ..I like that song too but oviously this kickes it's booty and is the awesome Ms Patrice R!!

  • the great Freddy Washington, amazing on the bass line.....love it

  • SORRY!

    *erases memory*

  • Great memories of Bridge Country Club, near Canterbury, Kent. Who could risist dancing to this?

  • Ready Freddie wrote the bassline and drum arrangement.. so give him his props, cause this tune wouldn't be S--t without the bass and drums

  • @aesopslyre Freddie Washington, that is.

  • long hair

  • Why does a hand clap add sooo much to a groove? Car wash is another great example of a clap clap settin' it off!!

  • No Will Smith did a great job using and replaying the sample. He even got Coko from SWV to sing vocals. There is several versions but Men In Black (MIB Masterr Mix) is by far the best

  • Patrice Rushen never got her due IMO. She's probably the most underrated female musician of all time. She's as every bit as talented as Prince.

  • How beautiful is this woman right here... i just fell out....JE - SUS

  • Finally, found it, I thought teena marie did this song. Greaaattt groove!!!!!!

  • 1 of my ALL TIME FAVS!!! one of 2days songs can't even come close to this 1!!!

  • thanks to youtube, i find out, that EVERY fucking song nowadays is stolen...

and luckily, i can enjoy the original ones (which are ALWAYS better)

  • Will Smith is a wonka

  • This is one song no one will ever forget.

    Classic

  • Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots 、LOVE isTHE Rushen JAPAN Etou!

  • This song is amazing! The singer, the lyrics, the music-LOVE IT!!!!

  • I love the words to this song.

  • This women is a genious ! will Smith ? hahahaha...

  • If I knew how to do mixes and mashups, I'd combine this with "Remember the Time" by Michael Jackson. Not only would the two singers blend beautifully, but the lyrics would form a cohesive theme. Like I said, I have no idea how to do such a thing though, so anyone feel free to use the idea. The only compensation I want is the satisfaction of listening to such an awesome mashup!

  • @RationalDischarge

you can contact megajacko, he is a great dj who has made a lot of mixes and mashups!! just type megajacko and you can listen to his songs! Really amazing!

Tell him your great idea! ;)

  • My high school crush loved when I BLASTED this song for her when we went cruising in my 1981 Z28 down the Blvd. Everyone turned there heads and GOT DOWN!!!!! Love U Patrice!

  • D + D + ESTE SOM EU ESTOU DANÇANDO AQUI

  • This song made me feel cooler than I really was.

  • hot Fender Precision bass sound !

  • So much better than Men in Black!

  • Great!!!!!!!!!

  • This song sings to my heart. It peirces all the way to the deepest part of me..

  • yeh, sending you forget me nots

  • no matter how many times i hear this song it never gets old i love it ty patrice rushen

  • WILL SMITH RUINED THIS SONG

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 i can't stand that brotha!!

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 Right!

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 He pretty much has ruined everything.

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 I wouldn't say that. I thought Men in Black was a pretty good song and you know Ms. Rushen got crazy PAID!

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 Will Smith loves this song every bit as much as we do....that's why he did it :D

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 I reckon he did a brilliant job of sampling this into a rap song. I love this AND the Men In Black ost.

It's rather clever him choosing to sample this because in the movie they have that 'memory erasing device'.

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO RIGHT!

  • @GroupTherapyTV1 nope) he is good also

  • I can remember my beautifull neice getting all dressed up to go out to club's.. this song on the background.... I'm 43 and party hard experienced, no going out anymore... and my neice is 50 and still looking great !!! LOL

  • @geoffo2009 You can't have evrything my friend;)* Cheers from Germany..

  • This is music!

  • @777butch777 Not only is this music it actually has meaning and class!

  • MEN IN BLACK

  • The first time I heard this was in the movie "Big! " LOL

  • This is an extremely talented woman. This is one of my particular favorites from a prolific artisit. If you have a minute, take a look at the information provided above on her. I knew she had talent; I knew she was successful, but I had no idea of all the accolades!! Very, very impressive. Have a look. Thank you for a terrific post.

  • I did not know Will Smith had 13 accounts.

  • 13 people didnt use forget me nots to remember to like this video

  • omg i've been looking for this and now i finally found it !(: I'm so happy .

  • @iluvmycat1999 Me too, lol. I remember this was the hit in the 80s at Studio 54 in New York.

  • This reminds me of me, my moms and pops headn off 2 the bel air drive inn in the Chi back in the 80's, this song seem 2 always be playn on WGCI on the way there and " u remind me" 4 the way home.

  • I love the instrumental 4 this song ;)

  • "FORGET YOU NOT PATRICE!" Cause, we'll never forget,..."FORGET ME NOTS!" :)

  • almost every artist copied from this song....what happened to music these days? ALL copies NO originals

  • gr8 tune and gr8 quality. pumping this on my set now :-0

  • w h a t a b a s s l i n e !

  • I wish I could sing like that,

  • Where is she nowadays? Do she perform live? She's my favourite musician... Awesome voice with soul...

  • I love the joy and sadness of this song, so real. What a voice, beat, and flow... wonder why music can't be so tranquil and at peace with itself anymore.

  • You learn stuff everyday. I never knew Will Smith got inspired with his MIB lyrics from here:)

  • CLASSIK <3 12x

  • Classic <3

  • @Celeste2054 Are you my sister? I have a sister named Celeste....she is the ONLY person I know who would mess with my head like you're doing! LOL!!!!!!!!

  • I really like this song, which is another hit from the 80s. No surprise there...LOL...

  • this is such a top song and the bassline is just killer

  • omg..her hair...is so....gorgeous. ...if only women wore their hair like that these days, they'd SO get married sooner.

  • @lomejorpapi Seriously?! This one's definitely first. So you would be comfortable if your husband/wife told you they just had to marry you right away because your hair has a beautiful "persona"?

  • @checkavanz101 LoL...Of course not. Don't take my comment seriously. I just used 'getting married' as a way to say how gorgeous this look was. ...definitely wouldn't marry anyone based purely upon their hairstyle..or else I'd be unhappily married already. #thatisall :-)

  • @Celeste2054 LOL!!!!! You're too funny:)

  • BIG!!! I think of Tom Hanks jumping on that huge trampoline. Oh memories... And that bassline and sax solo is so critical!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Celeste2054 Read my post again....I said that this song reminded me of my best friend. I don't know Patrice Rushen personally:)

  • men in black?

  • @tiztiz12 . YES!!!.. that's were they copy the beat of this song. I mix this with that song men in black cause they have the same beat and speed.

  • outstanding bass line, dat's all

  • everytime I hear this I think of Tom Hanks in BIG

  • she is cute.

  • HERE COME THE MEN IN BLACK! XD

  • Isn't it funny how things work ? I was going to listen to "Remind Me" by her, by I accidentally clicked on this thinking it was something else. My grandfather loved this song and played it drastically (RIP), aside from some Chaka Khan and a few others. It makes me wanna tear up even hear the beats drop on this song and I'm merely 14. God i miss him so much.

  • One of the most memorable bass lines of all times ...great CD! great Artist! and Great song...

  • great rithym section

  • I remember Saturday mornings grooving to this with my momma

  • I LOVE IT! THEY DON T DO IT LIKE THIS ANYMORE.

  • Uh it's the M.I.Bs, here come the M.I.Bs

  • My aunt use to play this when we were growing up. Man the memories!

  • The 80's were not really that different than the 70's,the music from both eras are classic gold!

  • i won't mention mib. piss poor rapping

  • good weed,drink & this

  • she totally stole this from Will Smith.

  • @Mercutio1984 And you totally stole your brains from a peanut.

  • @sexonthebeach003 U are just a fanboy and troll... stop being mean!

  • @sexonthebeach003 LOLOL! Good one... LMAO!

  • @Mercutio1984 You mean in 1982 when Will Smith was 13 years old? Give me a break --- you've got it backwards --- Smith sampled THIS recording!

  • @Mercutio1984 Lol... you were probably born i the 90's. This song was recorded and release in 1982. Do it reversed WILL SMITH stole it from PATRICK RUSHEN. Do some research if you are born today.

  • never gets old...

  • You must be 21 to enter store premises, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

That was the sign on the door... can anyone guess where I last heard this song? LOL

  • I remember my mom had this album. I use to play it on my Fisher Price record player...the whole album. I was song young, but I loved this album,,,still do!!

  • i like how they used real instruments . . .unlike the fakers we have today >.>

  • @SoraCloud9 Well, back then it was about the band. Now, it's about the vocals. Also, many "neo"-soul singers use real instruments in their live performances, but the focus now is vocalization, and that's a good thing.

  • @SoraCloud9 That's why I play and listen to Jazz.

  • Wow, this takes me back, waaay back and always liked this so much! Never knew what she looked like, but Patrice Rushen is a really pretty lady; with a nice voice. We don't have much simple good music like this anymore, too much special effects and synthesizers. Really nice tune.......nice to reflect...thank you Sarah for showing me this! :)

  • this was a good album growing up. Thanks to mom who has good taste in music!

  • That horn solo took an already groovin' song over the top into the realm of EPIC WIN...

  • UnchainedGrace is was Fred Washington who played bass on this and most of Patrice's records.

  • Here comes the men in Black ;D

  • @100Label hahahahaaa

  • @100Label Here come the MIB's!!

  • @100Label I argue with my husband that this is the MIB theme since the film is in part about forgetting.

  • One of favorite songs to shed with on the bass, Ready Freddie Washingon killed it on this track.

  • I know what you mean I would like some of today's music was like the past

  • 9 dislikes???? I guess there is always someone who has to dislike something...

  • I love the bassline and often wonder what Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten or Stanley would do with it. In the end the creativity of the bassist who actually did it was serious, tight and very catchy.

  • 9 Dislikes? Impossible.

  • I wish today's music was more like this.

  • Thats a lot of beads i'd be afraid to turn my head lol

  • iWas like 2 when this song came out. iLuv this song tho. Makes me wish iWas old enuff to get in the clubs back then

  • WOW, awesome - talk about going back! LOVE, LOVE this song, so many pretty young memories, thank you!

  • Excellent dance track & just sweet lyrics! @3:06 switched it up!

  • I love to read all these comments about the college days I feel like i was there im only 32 but I just love Patrice.. And this song reminds me of watt things were like rite bfore crack came to the projects.. this was the last of the good..

  • The bassline is super nice.

  • Yes I love disco and miss music like this.

  • Sunny Sunday Music of the 80's!

  • Those were the days.

  • COME AND GET YOUR BLACK BIN BAGS (british people)

  • This songs reminds me of my first roommate out of college. We thought we were all that AND a bag of chips.....celebrating our birthdays.....rocking, jamming party. Thought we would be together forever (with husbands or boyfriends in tow), through thick and thin. She dies at 44....2 months before her 45th birthday...May she rest in peace! I miss her soooooooo much. My BFF!

  • @55peachpie Great to have good memories brought to life by music...different circumstances for me though but with the same result. Touching post. Sorry for your loss.

  • @55peachpie (Even though I'm very late) Please accept my condolences over the loss of your friend. I enjoyed your comment because I haven't heard that expression "We thought we were all that AND a bag of chips." in MANY YEARS. As soon as I read that, I enjoyed a nice laugh.

  • @brownies4you Thanks for your condolences, however, I'm 55 years old now, so this happened about 10 years ago. She was coming back from a wedding with her husband and they were involved in a horrible car accident, which killed her instantly. It was Labor Day weekend and he called me at 5 am to tell me that she had died. She was my BEST friend since Jr. High School, High School, College and Life. Yeah...we THOUGHT we were all that and a bag of chips! LOL!!!!!

  • 9 people were forgotten

  • @guitaro5000 that's the Scottish version

  • @guitaro5000 lmao wtf

  • they dont make basslines like this anymore

  • @FunkMasterKRoc Coz producers don't let their session musicians cut loose any more :'(

  • @TheTuita Producers today are not well trained musicians and it shows. There's no software that can make you great at music. Just practice.

  • I would like to return to that time.

  • Love this song and time of music making....listen to the "actual" bass line guitar in the song-NICE. I was serving our Country in the US Marine Corps when this song came out.....we would all, black, white, yellow, red, men be jammin with this song in our barracks. Miss this type of music, musicians made, not computer generated.

  • Most folks don't realize how good Patrice was on older albums when playing piano (with Jean Luc Ponty) - see: Jean Luc Ponty - Renaissance - Aurora

  • this what you call real music

I SWEAR THEY DONT MAKE MUSIC THE SAME ANYMORE and lm 22 saying this because music of today is a hot mess

  • @QillerFox Agreed

  • @QillerFox

So true. I think the late 70s and early 80s was an incomparable era for music, especially dance and party music. Some stuff now is ok to dance to, but in no way does this generation compare to back then.

  • @MrUnc82alum Yessss l always said if l had to choose an era l would have loved to live in would had to be the early but late 70s and early 80s haha almost made it but l was born in 89 July haha.

But yea this generation can't compare to back then at all

  • @QillerFox

Awww, i hate u missed late 70s early 80s:( It was a great time to be in college. We had so much fun, and the constant infusion of great dance and party music made that time so special. You should listen to as much of it as u can.

  • @MrUnc82alum l bet yall did l think thats why lm sooo drawn to those era of music because my mom played them around the house while carrying me in her belly. I surprise her to this day with some of the music l know and sing. Haha lve been singing since l came out of the womb haha :)

  • Men in Black sampled this song!

  • @PaNdeM0niuM

    Will Smith actually :)

  • Hey music and movie lovers! Remember this song from the movie BIG w/ Tom Hanks? He and Elizabeth Perkins character were jumping on the trampoline....classic song for a classic movie scene!!

  • The beads, earring etc. Answer: She is part hippie folks - don't you get??? Love Ms. Rushen!

  • My reaction is this: How did we go from Rock to Disco? Mmmm Oh yeah, talent and great music! okay, feel better now.
