the only thing that you are missing is the atack after you make the roll that makes it so much easier. what you do is block and roll if your roll goes near an enemy press X so you will lift your enemy in the air and then press 0 that will do the blades of fury(that pound in the ground) you'll avoid being petrified and send most of the medusas flying
Ok guys, my way is the best, listen. I tried at least 250 times, no lie, but I finally figured out the stay on the left side (west) of the platform. Stay here the whole time and keep pressing triangle for the slam move. Don't remember what it's called but you have to press it three times. The enemies won't really come close to you if you stay on the left side. Please try this out, it really does work.

Finally that gold trophy. If I would fail this challenge after 20 minutes of killing enemies I would never play any GOW game again. It's strange I don't remember this challenge from ps2. This challenge itself is easy, but ridiculous, and it's easy to get nervous at the end of it, so even medusas can be threats.

This one was actually very easy, and here's how to do it, the easy way:
Jump and then hold L1 and press circle twice, and the second time you press circle hold it till the attack is done. This will be your main way of doing damage.
If you see one of the medusas trying to freeze you, ROLL! It doesn't matter where at all, just ROLL, and they won't be able to freeze you at all!! When you see it fit, start doing damage again!
Should make you able to do it in first attempt! =)
1. Notice he's hitting the medusas out of the ring when he does that. Make that your primary goal
2. When the medusa is using the gaze, you can sneak in 2-3 light attacks before you have to roll again.
3. If you don't want to hit between your rolls, you can roll 3 times during a gaze and then you can do the downward smash (L1 + O in midair). Don't worry about her gaze still being on you; it will fade out before it gets close to freezing you.
i don't know if this helps but i find it kind of helpful having the medusas because they can stone the dead soldiers which makes it easier to kill them with one but i have constantly roll over to avoid being stoned by medusa......it's like i can hear in my head the guy from star fox saying...."DO THE BARREL ROLL!....DO THE BARREL ROLL!"

dont get me wrong i love this game infact the whole trilogy but this. stop complaining, it is SUPPOSE to be an extremely hard challenge, its for you to have something to do after you beat the game that is to challenge your skills after you completed the store. YES it is hard, NO it is not impossible.

YES, finally, the analog's are making weird noises now, they are sorta pushed in and I can't get them out lol. It's enough that the left one was pretty much destroyed by sprinting in call of duty. Sony sure makes durable controllers, can't imagine the third party one I have surviving this.
Btw, this is going to kill my controller, as I go crazy on the right analog when they use the beam and and even crazier, with my whole hand on the left stick when i freeze. :(
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, WITH LIKE 1 SOLDIER LEFT, I ACCIDENTLY HIT UP A COMBO AND FLEW OF THE MAP, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I did this on my first try. The medusas take breaks between using their gaze, so just keep rolling away and then jump and do the Lance of Furies (L1 + O). You just have to keep moving at all times and use no other attacks. This challenge is long and tiring, but you can get away with hardly a scratch if you use this technique. You also don't need to immediately stop with charging the Lance of Furies if you hear medusa's gaze, they can't freeze you immediately.
It really isn't that hard, and I'm not THAT good at God of War. My tactic: do the L1 + O move to send the enemies flying off the arena. If you are in the middle of charging this attack and you see / hear the Medusas starting to freeze you, let go of the buttons immediately, then roll and R1 repeatedly around the outside of the arena until they ALL stop freezing (briefly), then do L1 + O again and so on. Only took a few tries (and finished the challenge with almost full health)! Hope this helps.

Fuck this challenge. I was on this stage for over an hour. It made absolutely zero sense. Finally all I had were medusas spawning and all of them would use stone gaze at once to the point where I was doing nothing but dodging the entire time, until finally, the up and stopped dropping health. Thanks for wasting 8 hours of my life with this bullshit.
If you can't get it after trying for a while don't freak out and scream. Just go outside or doing something else and calm down. These challenges are designed to drive to the mental facility. Patience is a virtue
Ok I know I have been posting to many today so hate me if you want, its only that Im really excited to have finished this, cause a friend of mine told me I would never be able to do it.
Yes our brain can be trained too, its all about keep searching how to solve all kind of puzzles and challenges in any game, well I beated all of the challenges of the gods now. 9 and 10 werent hard as 8 as I tought, my next objective is finish the game in god mode without dying any single time, wish me luck.
As I tought the L1+Circle attack gave me the key to beat this challenge at the first try, is not really that hard if you use the right strategy. I started activating rage of the gods at the beggining, then endured with the square, square, triangle combo until no undead soldiers respawned, filled the rage of the gods bar again and finally used the L1+ Circle attack to finish the remaining gorgons. And please dont make complains, be brave and search all kind of ways to beat this.
Im having problems trying to beat this eight challenge, ussually I use "Rage of The Gods" when I start, kill everyone with simple combos till undead soldiers dont respawn anymore, and finally refill the "ROTG" and keep it, but later those fucking gorgons kill me, but now I think I can do this with that L1-Circle air attack, How I didnt realize it before?
@PHXxX dude that's the problem: whenever a challenge feels too easy, don't start getting cocky, for instance: in this challenge, they said you only had to kill all enemies, nothing more, so, to make it more harder they make you fight like, a fucking hade's army, and when you turn bakc and think of when you said it was "too easy", you take that off, get it?

Had this game for 2 years now. Every weekend, I attempt to complete the challenge of the gods. Every weekend, I get to challenge 8 with just a few minor issues from the other seven along the way. When I get to this challenge, I die, usually when I'm almost done... OVER AND FUCKING OVER AND FUCKING OVER AGAIN.
I'm a pacifist. I don't like violence in reality because I don't wanna hurt anybody. What I'm trying to say is that I never had the urge to mutilate someone until I tried this challenge.
@Yommankey Your situation is what I'm scared of. I don't like to quit but I've already ripped a new controller apart...twice. I spent $30 on the game but now I've spent $110 on new controllers. This is rediculous. No one should have to know what the inside of a PS3 controller looks like. I have parts everywhere. Maybe I should start a parts shop.
roll + shoulder bash helps running away from gaze, roll + jump with l1 +o combo for extra stun from throwing them in the air does too, never double jump on l1+o combo, there a chance to get stoned in air :(
@Doukhyat Dude...you have no idea what's coming...Challenge 10 is the hardest thing I have ever attempted. I got through this level 8 challenge easy yesterday then the game reset me after about 3 hours on #10. Today I can't even get past level 8 so if I do then I can just imagine how hard level 10 is.
my only problem with Lance of the Furies is sometimes Kratos is slow to pull off the move and I get frozen in the animation. This is a lot to go through for a couple friggin costumes!

I was on the last medusa, and she got out of one of my L1 + X combos and turned me to stone before I hit the ground. I was so pissed! I hate this challenge.
This stage is EASY!! I got it on the first try and had full health left and didn't get stoned ONCE!! And I suck at this game and I hate it.. Just use 'L1 + O' ALWAYS! Don't fight them normally or they'll hurt/kill you.. I got it done in like 5 minutes or so..
fuck dammit this challege is so fucking annoying! I'm on the verge of smashing my ds3, I mean damn even Demons Souls doesnt get me tjis annoyed and its suppose to be one of the most hardest games out there(critics say that but I believe its very easy actually)...

THis wouldn't be so bad if there was a save feature or something like GoW2 and 3 have, but NO, you have to do all 10 IN ONE GO. Jesus fucking christ, this might be harder than the trophy for beating the game in less than 5 hours.

@sammyslamdunk The trophy for beating the game in 5 hours is waaaay easier than beating challenges 8 and 10...once you beat the Challenge of the Gods, that is. Once you beat the challenge then you get several costumes that have different abilities. One is a cow and it gives you Infinite magic. So all you do is play a game on easy and rush through throwing magic at everything in sight.
@RENSS99 aye, yes... but moron stage second place... the first place takes the most moronic 10th stage... seriously all you do is hoping for an AI malfunction while playing it for 3 hours...
It's crap like this that makes the game dumb. I've done this challenge 2x using the same exact tactic and once it's taken 30+mins and other time maybe 10. As some guy mentioned I was like lvl9 or 10 on the red bar once and 3 or 4 the other.
Btw you get most of the red bubbles from L1+O'ing the frozen soldiers.
Challenge 10 is piss easy compared to this, I found it hardest when it was just the Gorgons left because they bitch whip you when you roll around avoiding the beams : /
Thank u tk848 I used some of your strategies to pass challenges 8-9, for the tenth one though I activated the rage of the gods and then just used the artemis sword, and slammed those staff mofos off the platform, along with the mini dogs...
best tactic is to keep using that L1-O move until all the foot soldiers are dead
Then, to deal with medusa's (who can't attack in the air except with their beams) use an aerial grab 3 times on each one. Whenever they try to freeze you, move really quickly using your charge and roll consecutively and at the end, consider pressing X to do the backflip thing and hopefully knock them, off their feet. Be careful not to be frozen in midair though - instant death.
The moment I look at this YouTube Video I do it in my second turn. All you have to do is double jump then press L1+O (Keep pressing circle) which knocks all enemies over. ONLY do this when NO medusas have there gaze on otherwise you will freeze after the attack. Make sure the Medusa's don't have there gaze on and do it. If they do there gaze during your air jump it doesn't matter as the move will either knock them down or after the move you can roll away. Thank god this level is over..

YES, finally, the analog's are making weird noises now, they are sorta pushed in and I can't get them out lol. It's enough that the left one was pretty much destroyed by sprinting in call of duty. Sony sure makes durable controllers, can't imagine the third party one I have surviving this.

I did this on my first try. The medusas take breaks between using their gaze, so just keep rolling away and then jump and do the Lance of Furies (L1 + O). You just have to keep moving at all times and use no other attacks. This challenge is long and tiring, but you can get away with hardly a scratch if you use this technique. You also don't need to immediately stop with charging the Lance of Furies if you hear medusa's gaze, they can't freeze you immediately.

It really isn't that hard, and I'm not THAT good at God of War. My tactic: do the L1 + O move to send the enemies flying off the arena. If you are in the middle of charging this attack and you see / hear the Medusas starting to freeze you, let go of the buttons immediately, then roll and R1 repeatedly around the outside of the arena until they ALL stop freezing (briefly), then do L1 + O again and so on. Only took a few tries (and finished the challenge with almost full health)! Hope this helps.

Fuck this challenge. I was on this stage for over an hour. It made absolutely zero sense. Finally all I had were medusas spawning and all of them would use stone gaze at once to the point where I was doing nothing but dodging the entire time, until finally, the up and stopped dropping health. Thanks for wasting 8 hours of my life with this bullshit.

As I tought the L1+Circle attack gave me the key to beat this challenge at the first try, is not really that hard if you use the right strategy. I started activating rage of the gods at the beggining, then endured with the square, square, triangle combo until no undead soldiers respawned, filled the rage of the gods bar again and finally used the L1+ Circle attack to finish the remaining gorgons. And please dont make complains, be brave and search all kind of ways to beat this.

Im having problems trying to beat this eight challenge, ussually I use "Rage of The Gods" when I start, kill everyone with simple combos till undead soldiers dont respawn anymore, and finally refill the "ROTG" and keep it, but later those fucking gorgons kill me, but now I think I can do this with that L1-Circle air attack, How I didnt realize it before?

Had this game for 2 years now. Every weekend, I attempt to complete the challenge of the gods. Every weekend, I get to challenge 8 with just a few minor issues from the other seven along the way. When I get to this challenge, I die, usually when I'm almost done... OVER AND FUCKING OVER AND FUCKING OVER AGAIN.
I'm a pacifist. I don't like violence in reality because I don't wanna hurt anybody. What I'm trying to say is that I never had the urge to mutilate someone until I tried this challenge.

@sammyslamdunk The trophy for beating the game in 5 hours is waaaay easier than beating challenges 8 and 10...once you beat the Challenge of the Gods, that is. Once you beat the challenge then you get several costumes that have different abilities. One is a cow and it gives you Infinite magic. So all you do is play a game on easy and rush through throwing magic at everything in sight.

I got this at my 2nd try; my 1st try was like 1 min long before I realized your strategy;

It's crap like this that makes the game dumb. I've done this challenge 2x using the same exact tactic and once it's taken 30+mins and other time maybe 10. As some guy mentioned I was like lvl9 or 10 on the red bar once and 3 or 4 the other.
Btw you get most of the red bubbles from L1+O'ing the frozen soldiers.

best tactic is to keep using that L1-O move until all the foot soldiers are dead
Then, to deal with medusa's (who can't attack in the air except with their beams) use an aerial grab 3 times on each one. Whenever they try to freeze you, move really quickly using your charge and roll consecutively and at the end, consider pressing X to do the backflip thing and hopefully knock them, off their feet. Be careful not to be frozen in midair though - instant death.

The moment I look at this YouTube Video I do it in my second turn. All you have to do is double jump then press L1+O (Keep pressing circle) which knocks all enemies over. ONLY do this when NO medusas have there gaze on otherwise you will freeze after the attack. Make sure the Medusa's don't have there gaze on and do it. If they do there gaze during your air jump it doesn't matter as the move will either knock them down or after the move you can roll away. Thank god this level is over..
