@alicechaos THE TIME FROM ONE TSUNAMI WAVE TO THE NEXT CAN BE FIVE MINUTES TO AN HOUR, AND THE THREAT CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AS MULTIPLE WAVES ARRIVE.
I was only there for a little more than an hour, I may have missed any waves before or after that. It was 1 frame/second, so time these crests and multiply by 24 (frames/sec replay) to get real time.
Not that it's anything insignificant, but you can see the surges move through.
One at 1:05, smaller one at 1:26, you see levels drop at 1:39 only to come up again at 1:49. Out again at 2:02 only to come back obviously at 2:19 (I wonder if those folks wandering around the rocks realized they were standing in a Tsunami?) And then out and back again towards the end of the clip.
That's not tidal people, that's the Event in action.
It is there, but subtle. water level moves up and down 2-3 feet in 15 minute or so cycles. For perspective, the rocky reef in background is about one acre in size. Long waves, just not very tall here.
aw dude great vid :D thumbs up

same thing happened in hawaii. the tsunami is not really a wave, rather it is the rapid rise and fall in sea level

The sea level rose and fell about 3 feet, in about 4 cycles, in a little over an hour. Thats not a very normal tide.

I wish I had gone to see this in Carlsbad. I could have watched it from the top of that wall they have by the beach.

True, that is the event. You probably wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it. Tsunamis are not always noticeable...

Ignorance is scared. And, lucky spectators.

There were actually people swimming and surfing just off-camera. They probably never noticed it.
