  • 0:15 to 0:19 gives me that old broken-down playground feel.

  • ive got to be honest. the first time i played hl2 i didnt react or even get scared of the tv at all! O_O

  • I know you don't do requests, but, could you do that really creepy chant from the Fatal Frame series?

  • Let's look on the bright side, I didn't see that Jigglypuff in my suggestion box

  • hey, for your next DVGM could you put drought from Pokemon Ruby?(or maybe petalburg forest)

  • The start looks like lavender town

  • Hey look! Its almost as worse as Lavender T-

  • The worst part about this is, I was playing this really early in the morning. When I heard this, I walked towards the sound and found the TV- and I was about walk closer, get a better view of it, when it broke. And, well, when it broke...

You ever seen that one scene from The Evil Dead where Ash touches the mirror and finds out at it's actually water? Yeah, it was like that.

  • Hear This in headphones... prepare for real insanity

  • the worst part about this song is how painful it sounds i have high sensitive hearing so this songs makes it feel like my ears are bleeding god so painful damn g man you know people consider this song to be his theme god what a fit to hes such a asshole only fitting he get a song like this

  • @rocklee989 ^ my ears hurt even now

  • @rocklee989 There is a thing called "period".

    Use it.

  • @screenON14 what the hell is that sapost to meen

  • @rocklee989 THE LITTLE THINGY YOU PUT ON THE SENTENCES TO END THEM.

    Go back to school.

    By the way, *supposed

  • @screenON14 dont have to a asshole guy.

  • @rocklee989 Sorry, but I couldn't understand you, again, because of your lack of knowledge in grammar.

  • @screenON14 you know i don't have to prove anything to you and you know why cause am not like you i don't spend my time on internet being a dick and am ending this conversation. with this in mind i want you to know why am not good at grammar jerk am mentality disable so does that make you feel good knowing your making fun of someone who's mentality challenge loser.

  • @rocklee989 You are just trolling, aren't you.

  • Will you add "Nightmare" to the list of DVGM? It's from the game Alundra.

  • @peanut, if you want some more ideas for disturbing or awesome video game music, try playing American Mcgee's Alice and the sequel, Madness Returns.

  • I expect every track of the original Diablo soundtrack to be in this series. It is the most creepy, disturbing soundtrack I have ever heard.

  • 1: put in middle of youtube and .com ''repeat''

    2???

    3:PREPARE FOR FREAKNESS

  • this theme gave me a heart attack the first time i heared it.

inside the city, DOG saves you, then you use the oportunity to scape inside a building, the door behind you closes, part of the ceiling fall trapping you in, i started to sprint and ended up inside the room where the tv was, and BAM G-man turns his head to the camera, then a flash of his face zoomed then the tv just turns off.

    damn.

  • I can never play scary games, (I can't take them) and it's sad how much all the songs scare me... But it's probably SOOOOO much worse coming across these in the game...

PS, I heard there was a secret in this "song" with an easter egg!

  • Rice, Mr. Freeman?

  • Next upload should be the endless stair piece from Super Mario 64. Song sounds like it keeps getting higher and higher but the melody actually doesn't change. O.O

  • Look up "Earthworm Jim HD Music - Evil the Cat", it's got a bit of a devious tune to it...

  • BEN wallpaper+this playing+home alone+pitchdark in my house=the voices coming back again

Voices: and whats wrong with that?

    Me: Damnit, shutup Dilan!

Voice1(Dilan):oh, so you gave me a name now, I'm flattered.-_-

Me:I said Shutup, Sam, you stay out of this!

    Sam: but

    Me: ):<

    Sam: D:

  • @Cherryblossoms13100 WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD WOULD YOU HAVE A BEN SCREENSAVER

  • its not as bad as playrooms......

  • I am surprised you can post all these disturbing themes without going FUCKING INSANE T.T

  • @aquaclaw11 of course, I am immune to giving into insanity. or maybe I'm SO INSANE that I've come full circle

  • @aquaclaw11 naaaaaaaaaaah, probably choice 1, ive never acted insane in my life

  • when my sister said the music wasn't scary, i dared her to watch all of the DVGMs. now she refuses to leave her bedroom... and i'm YOUNGER than her!!

  • I never saw this and many other DVGMs very scary at all. There are only 10 in particular I find truly scary

  • I agree. Ghost of Rattmann is a good idea. But how about doing the Battle against Gyigas for 41?

  • @MultiRiver00 the giygas battle was peanut's first DVGM

  • "Ghost of Rattmann" from Portal is disturbing, in my opinion. Maybe it could be #41?

  • You should do "Self Esteem Fund" from Portal 1. It's really desolate and creepy, just like the world within the game.

  • kinda reminds me of suicide mouse.

  • I am going to blast this on halloween

  • What chapter is this on? I just got Half-Life 2 & I need to know where it is.

  • @Darthzim950

    Anticitizen One. Pretty sure.

  • the first time i saw this , it came to my conclusion that g-man is nothing to fuck with.

  • I actually find this catchy. X3

  • im the only one here who find this as not realy scary or disturbing as many of the others on this list?

for me, the most disturbing (and also extremly scary!) music is playrooms, its just... messed up. this music is seriously messed up. and the worst part by far is the sound of the chainsaw, and then the screaming of someone while the little twisted child song is in the background O_O

  • hey Peanut...what about "Alma's Music Box" as the 41st DVGM ?

  • Total agreement there! It's as disturbing as Dead Space's "Twinkle, twinkle, Little Star" and Giygas's Second Form battle theme from Earthbound mixed in a bloody blender. And all you need is the flipping G-man to appear at some places, and you're up for a total paranoia.

  • How to be scary on GMod:

    1. Make a G-Man

    2. Make a radio that plays this song

    3. put them both in a room with a singular light.

    4. o_e

  • Thumbs up if you watched this at night O.o

  • Despite it being over so soon, this is one of the few videogame songs that scared me to death upon the first time hearing it.

Seriously, just imagine yourself alone, with no one to talk to and all you could hear was this...

That would certainly make ME go insane.

  • theres a song on silent hill thats similar

  • The Composer of this Song was too scared to continue it

NO SHIT PEOPLE, it is such a short Song, and it is like that in almost EVERY scariest Video Game Music we know!

    Take Dementors for another Example!

  • (listens to this song and OI had this stuck in my mind)

    Dr. Freeman...

  • ..Meh. It's not that bad.

  • what is a story arc?

    sorry to be a noob.

  • autarch, what chapter does the song play in and where do you find this TV?

  • G-Man: My absolute favorite Video game Character ever

  • My pick for the most disturbing VGM ever is #39. That theme just CREEPS ME OUT. I literally cried myself to sleep I was so scared once.

  • The description is awesome.

  • I'm honestly surprised nothing from Parasite Eve has made this list so far. >.>

  • Imagine hearing this with all the lights off in your room, your tv off, and your headphones on at 2:00 in the morning. I have never been more afraid of my closet door ever. D:

  • Ugh.

Normally I will make a sarcastic and off-topic remark here... But this really is...horrible.

I mean, I like unsettling music. I like dark and disturbing things.

They make me think, and imagine. But this does not. It's just empty.

This makes me feel very sad. And alone. And suicidal.

I realise just how much I hate my life.

  • @Donez35 GAWDEN FREEMANITISYOU!

  • smelltheashes

  • Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Rise and shine...

  • WHY DO I HEAR THE BIGGINING OF LAVENDER TOWN IN THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

  • Mommy...

  • Okay, it's close, but the giygas theme wins. This one gets close second, for it too drives you insane.

  • Welcome to Insanity.

We hope you enjoy your stay.

    Because you won't be leaving.

    Ever.

  • Didn´t see this one coming. Well, this track is my pick for the scariest music track in video games, too.

Whenever I hear it, I feel like if I was completely alone, and even though if I implored for help, no one would be there to hear my screams of suffering and sorrow.

  • The ad in the middle of the suggestion list started playing at really low volume while I was listening to this...

    It... was rather unsettling.

  • .................Demon Pokemon??????

  • @93earthbound Watch Top Ten Worst Pokemon (part 2) to found out what he means.

  • My favorite Non-Boss Video Game Music EVER

  • Okay, never in all the times I've played Half-life 2 have I ever seen/heard this. Is this near a secret lambda cache I haven't found yet?

  • @TheSufferingDarkness It plays right when DOG gets lifted away by the Combine Dropship. You have to wait until that happens to hear the song.

  • Flame Shield Up:

I don't think this is disturbing music, rather just a bland sound. Disagree with me if you will, but this is, to me, just.....

    Meh.

  • am i the only one who can't help but imagine how gordon freeman from freeman's mind would react to hearing this?

Freeman:"talking to himself...as usual" So i was just walking to school, bleeding out of my face, when all of a sudden-wait...what is that fucking noise?! OH MY GOD, IM GONNA DIE, AREN'T I!!?!

  • Rise and shine...

  • Doctor Freeeeemaaaan...

  • Is "The Ghost of Rattman" from Portal 2 gonna make an appearance on this list?

  • On the topic of radios.

Was anyone else utterly creeped out by the odd transmissions you got in Portal when carrying the Radios? I guess the sense of isolation didnt help...

  • Is that TV even plugged in?

  • @Darthzim950 NOPE O.O

  • I am uneffected, I am using this theme for... somethin...

  • the first couple seconds kinda remind me of philistine from nmh2.

    wahwahwah waaah

    reeaaper reeaaper thats

  • Why do I watch this shit at night? .__.

  • /watch?v=3l5Ct0Q6GmI

    Listen to this. Do it.

  • I'm somewhat less frightened by isolation than I am by paranoia.I prosper in isolation, not so much when other people are with me.

  • Damn, Gordan Freeman is one tough Mo-Fo..... or his screams & fears are silent too......

  • I properly love this song. Wish it was longer. Like Aphex Twin music, it is slightly disturbing and sounds rather wrong... but the tune and unique sound makes it a brilliant song. Great stuff.

  • Valve sure knows how to fuck with your mind, even in music...

  • what episode is this

  • @coldplayfan121 Its from the first half life 2..

  • The begining of this music sounds like Lavender Town "remixed"

  • This is disturbing when you see the BAD ending of Half Life if you don't go with G-Man.

"...*turns into alien* Tiime's up, Mr. Freeman."

  • @ZacksQuest half life 1 was a traumatising experience for me, even today.

  • Comment removed

  • Another name for Kaocho After the Eclipse is Iceberg Outpost (which by the way is misleading because the theme that plays in Kaocho does not play in the Iceberg Outpost)

  • MAN, thats creepy. its just messed up and unappealing to the ears, with no real tone or rythem...

    Nom.

    It's mine now...

    *cortex laugh*

  • Oh half life... Good time indeed

  • This is pretty creepy. Actually sounds like something out of a good modern horror movie. Great use of dissonance and noise.

It's one of those tracks that simultaneously evokes appreciation and shudders.

  • i just realized, you have a lot of Current DVGM's as Rabbidluigi, is this a coincidence?

  • "So wake up, Mr. Freeman... Wake up, and... smell the ashes...

  • I remember when i first heard this music. Dog had just flown off and i was wondering if he and Alex would be ok. Just then i started hearing this music. It snapped me to attension and i went into the ruined building. I went down th ehallway and saw the Gman tv for a split second before it shut off. I didnt move until that music stopped. For those 40 seconds, all other thoughts escaped my mind as I felt myself slowly dipping into maddness. I completely agree that his is incredibly creepy.

  • Erm, this may creep some out but, I don't find it creepy at all.

In fact, I feel pretty good with this playing. Comfortable is a fitting word.

  • *Twitches* I need a moment. *Walks into a corner, which he finds is very dark, and this music plays again* I'm scared...

In all seriousness, this creeps me out. And I think the thumbnail picture had the TV screen all thermo visioned or something... Creepy.

  • how about....megaman legends(64) clozer woods sub gate?

  • @elguaro3 I'm more of the opinion that the Gate themes were more sorrowful and abandoned in feeling than genuinely creepy...

  • Kaocho After the Eclipse from Golden Sun Dark Dawn (it may not be the most disturbing but its still fairly disturbing) and maybe Phantasmal Bog. Saturos Battle Theme for AVGM.

    P. S. I dont really remember the name for the theme of Kaocho After the Eclipse, all i know is that it plays at that point (poor grandmother)

  • @jarod467 and thats why it makes me feel at home ;L; U

  • sunken womans theme from fatal frame/project zero 2: crimson butterfly. scary ass s**t

  • *Looks at description* "my story arc" Why do you need a story arc? You're completely fine without them. Please don't go the way of TGWTG. No story arcs, PLEASE!

  • @mrohnoes

Chill. Any and all story references don't interfere with the video itself, unlike most TGWTG videos.

Besides, I make these segments because I want to. They help me gain special effect experience and all the while I get to pay homage to some of my favourite series.

  • @mrohnoes Trololo

Seriously, what is wrong with a story arc?

  • @L5Animations They're pointless, period. But I understand peanut's reasons; not so much TGWTG.

  • @mrohnoes Pointless? I think not. And even if they are, that doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable. That's the whole purpose of the videos in the first place - entertainment. Stories just add to that.

  • So does this mean you might make a revised top 10 scariest music tracks in video games?

  • I really find it peacefull and relaxing , but it's just my opinion

  • somehow this reminds me of Lavender Town

  • To be honest if I would EVER put this in a Top 200 best Video game Music I would put it on #7 why? I find this kind of music so scary, i actually enjoy it

  • Do not attempt to adjust your radio. We are in control of the broadcast systems. Long live the Combine.

  • @Dynasaur2010 FUCK THE COMBINE!!! LONG LIVE THE LAMPADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song came into my head while i was trying to sleep

    i didnt sleep

  • This song has been stuck in my head throughout the night. I keep humming it while I'm walking in my house.

  • This song is a bit creepy, but for some reason I like it. In fact, I keep listening to it over and over.

Which probably means I've got sanity issues.

  • @ArcticSnail That's the same I can say about Playrooms. Except I don't find creepy. But I do like the song.

  • @ArcticSnail

I like what you said, it is good. You said a good thing.

  • @ArcticSnail I like it too. Then again, I have sanity issues myself...

  • It ends before I can truly felt the horror...Still though

    Creeeeepy.

  • So that's what it was at the end of Top 10 metroid battles.

  • this song is very short, but it takes advantage of that time to be as disturbing as possible. clearly, giygas' theme has been outcreeped.

  • ... Well, I can se- EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3 EPISODE 3

  • awwww, i thought 13.ogg from minecraft would be on here, but oh well, there's always next year

anyways, i've played half life 2 before, and honestly, this represents the half life series in general, dark, twisted, and insane. that is true atmosphere

  • I still found #39 worse, not saying this isn't scary...

  • Finally, I've been waiting for You to upload this.

This film scares the hell out of me!

  • Comment removed

  • Why does this fit so perfectly with Burmy?

  • I guess ppl didn't even notice this song in the game bcuz they were fucking around with the gravity gun. LOL

  • Happy halloween Alex!

  • YES I GOT IT RIGHT *dances*

  • aww he is scared again how cute.

  • I personally love this ...'song'... just because it doesn't sound like anything even remotely human. It's chilling and eerie, but you can feel that there's something in there, just below the surface. Something unfathomable and disturbing, but not exactly malevolent... it's beautiful...

  • The most disturbing thing about this... loosely arranged static is that it exists in real life. Stations like this exist if you look for them... people conspire that they are used by spies to communicate. They're called Numbers Staions, if you look for it there's a CD called The Conet Project has a recording of several of them. I'd stay away from "Russian Counting Man", "The Crackle", and "The Buzzer if I were you...

  • Hey, peanut, what do you mean about that last bit in the description? Is it that chaos theater RPG that you talked about in recent blogs?

  • Glad to see some HL2 love in this list ;D

  • sounds slightly like an intro to a BoC song.

  • Meh......

This isnt scary just boring, I thought playrooms was far more distubring purley because it was a combination of child frendily thune combined with distubing sound effects.

However this is though this is unusual and out of context, its doesnt have a disturbing atomsphere as the other songs though its wierd and unsetteling its not disturbing.

But I respect your opinion, it is after all your list

  • Has anyone read Trapped? No? Well, this high schooler is trapped in his high school with six other people for a week. The cause? I giant fucking blizzard. I could imagine this song appearing in a blizzard. And yes, they have a radio

  • Cardon Sub-Gate theme from Megaman Legends is some nightmare fuel.

  • Am I being crazy... or can I hear a higher pitched version of the music "Ice" from Silent Hill: Shattered Memories start @ 0:15? 0_o

  • i looked back as soon as i heard it. hl2 has the best music

  • I always have so much respect for composers who can make a really, REALLY creepy song without using high-pitched strings. I have even more respect for them when they can do it without using disturbing sfx.

  • peanut, look up "ripple star level 2" from kirby 64. that shit is disturbing.

  • @topcountdown He's done that. Look back a bit.

  • @topcountdown

    Already DVGM'd it. Creepy stuff.

  • @peanut3423 really? what number?

  • @topcountdown Just keep searching. It's not like you have a lot of DVGMs. Only 40. It should be easy to find.

  • @peanut3423 how about scarecrows theme from arkham asylum.

  • @peanut3423 Quick question: The most disturbing vgm you've ever heard? If it will be featured in an upcoming list, then don't tell me.

  • Creepy. Sounds like a demonic ice cream truck driving through a dark post-apocalyptic city.

  • I can not believe but, whenever I hear that Music, it strangely reminds me of my Childhood but the scary Thing is.....in my Childhood I have never heard about either Half life or this Music....

  • ha knew it was hl2 when i saw "radio" :D

  • *Sarcastically* So creepy and so short oh crap a demon! *Got killed for not thinking it's that scary.*

  • i knew this was coming!
