It could have been a really cool episode if they'd done this for TNG - think of the drama Patrick Stewart could have conjured up by making a speech about the Timeline in regards to Kirk's adventures. Not bad for a fan-made episode here! I like the idea.

This is cool. It reminds of the Star Trek novel, Federation, where the two crews meet. I wonder if the original crew would still have knowledge of the future they saw that could potentially violate the Prime Directive.

Interesting isnt how the prime directive becoes all the more important when there are temporal parodoxes that must be considered

Yes, it does. If the Enterprise would encounter such a Federation ship in the future, they must turn their viewscreens to low-res or go to the future with them. It works both ways.

Prime Directive, to me, was always nonsence. If Picard followed it in first contact, there would be no Federation.
