There was a caption to the left of the news reader . It said "BOMB " 200 metres , court-house"

Theyre the words the RUC woman wrote on her pad , who took the call.

The message was OBVIOUS (theres a bomb 200m from the courthouse)

THAT report was NEVER shown again

It was stage managed by the RUC to cause MAX casualties, therby destroying the RIRA (which worked) because they were threat to peace process

i was visiting family in derry from canada and was supposed to meet a friend at the hospital in omagh on that day, but seeing as i take medication daily for my thyroid and forgot it in toronto we had to stop at a pharmacy to get a temp perscription when we came out an hour later we heard it on the radio, i could have been there when it happened, thank god i wasn't, but god be with the ones who did perrish, and line these bastards against a wall and kill 'em all.

I am from Omagh, I was 12 when the bomb went off, it was actually my dad's birthday. Some of the comments on here have made me truely sick to my stomach and really offended. RIRA sent a message to the police saying that there was a bomb in main street omagh, by the courthouse. Omagh only recently got a main street, there wasn't one at the time. The bomb was at the crossroads at sedan avenue and campsie, the opposite end to the courthouse so the police moved people away from the courthouse

The RUC were informed of the bomb's location 48 hours before detonation- they were then informed on three separate occasions (40 minute intervals) before detonation. Their the reason so many killed that day. The RIRA wanted to gain media attention for their cause not kill innocent civilians. Also- the 500kg bomb found in a van near Newry, the PSNI left the van unattained with a few cones surrounding it. Fucking useless- it's almost as if they wanted it to go off.

I remember I had just turned 10 when the bombs went off in Omagh. My parents and I had just left our family's house 20 minutes before the bombs went off. I remember the mention of children and parents shopping for school uniforms. That trivial aspect stuck in my memory as i thought about my school friends and i would have been doing the same thing on the same day down in Dublin.
