  • Where can I listen to the studio version of this beauty?

  • Hello Nick ! A fan already hey. A studio version is on the 'Elusive' 3 track cd which I have. Still haven't managed to have a go at 'Exit/delete' yet with the tabs you kindly sent to me (life been a little topsey turvey). If you want to pm me with your email I'll drop you a line back. The new album 'What the night delivers' is nice. Ballerina Lake in particular. Hoping you're well. All the best. Lee

  • @peacefulbliss

A fan, indeed, thanks for the awesome recommendation! Will also be checking out "Ballerina Lake" right now. I really recommend you listen to the following, if you want to try some alternative work that's a bit "heavier" (in the sense that acoustic instruments aren't the main element of the songs): "Too real" and "And i'm aching" by BRMC, "Transdermal Celebration" by Ween (watch it with the video, it's amazing) and "O Vento" by Los Hermanos.

  • @peacefulbliss

When you have the time to have a got at Exit/Delete, you'll see it's pretty simple and hopefully the tabs will make sense. Hope you're also well and all the best!

    Nick

  • so hard to play this! he's truly amazing!

  • i've listened to this about 7298742837529 times and i can't stop

  • Such a great song! Love the Drake-esque ending. 'Tis reminiscent of Man in a Shed and Saturday Sun.

  • 50k views for this in 3 years, 1 billion for lady goo gaa, the world is wrong.

  • @MrFooknuts Ga Ga is awesome too just different. Actually if your open minded enough check her acoustic sessions. Amazing talent.

  • Joder, I just love his voice!

  • I remember when his album came out he was called a musician's musician and that is spot on. He inspires and absorbs like few have done, for me.

  • this song is perfection. See my videos for Scott Matthews 'is this love'

  • Played this song for a GCSE music performance, went down pretty well. Awesome song, but annoying guitar riff at the beginning almost deafened me xO

  • this guy is so obviously influenced by Nick Drake...... Love his Smiths cover of "the boy with a thorn in his side"..... Check it out....

  • @ImEasyLol what the fuck is wrong with you?

  • Does anyone know what the first sentence of this song is? More specifically, the first word? gone over and over it and it's really doing my head in now. sounds like 'prown' but that makes no sense. could be brown, as in gordon? he makes anyone need a drink!

  • @Humunch

first sentence " what makes me think,

every day i need a drink?"

  • SHUT UP TISCALI!!!!!!

  • Quality...that tiscali has done the same to me!!! ARRRGGHHH my ears. At least the song calmed my ear drums down!

  • Jeff Buckley would be proud.

  • Damn, that Tiscali guitar riff at the beginning of EVERY ONE of their vids doesn't half rip into my ears speakers. Need to turn that shit down. Other than that. More great sounds from Scott Matthews. Thanks

  • @Skenzed Dude i TOTALLY agree, i think I've perforated my eardrums..

  • @Skenzed Yeah, seriously... They need to remove that crap.

  • Can't think of what to write that adequately expresses in words how beautiful this guy's music is to listen to .... just SO heavenly !

  • what's that guitar ? ?...

  • it's a martin.

Probably one of the expensive ones...

    D28

    D 35

  • awesome feeling ! great artist

  • martain HD28 vintage re-make. i have the exact one and its beautiful.

  • he looks better without the beard. beautiful voice as always

  • your getting mixed up dude.! theres a scott mathew with a beard!. this is scott mathews !. 2 different people ,

  • yeah, i know that now. i was unaware of that fact the 3 months ago i made the comment. i bought Passing Stranger a few days after the comment. thanks anyways

  • Such a beautiful voice...

  • what is the tuning here?

  • open d - capo at the 2nd fret

  • @NickForrer its such a tricky pattern to play!!:/

  • heard him live in Wolverhampton today, he opened with this song like always....talented artist

  • Does anyone know what Martin he's playing here? Sounds fookin' lovely!

  • d28

  • I seen him in whelans as well last week. He was fantastic. Does anybody remember the name of the opening act?

  • i cant remember his name, sounded a little like damien rice, he was unfortunate...

his harmonica popped out half way through a song, to which he shouted "oh bollocks" asuming he'd had a bottle thrown at him!

he put the harmonica back in but only to play it backwards as he'd put it on upside down, the whole venue was in stitches...classic!

  • aye mate if its the same guy as glasgow he was called james summerfield

  • Yep, that was him allright. Just checked him up on youtube. He was a pretty talented musician as well.

  • opened with this song on tuesday night, met a guy in the crowd who was in love with this song, i'd never heard it before, wasn't expecting to either, was amazed when i heard it and totally understood the guy in the crowd...he knew what he was talking about! B.E.A...utiful.

  • I'm hoping he plays this tonight. Probably my favorite song of his. I'll have my cam ready for the opener.

  • Comment removed

  • i missed filming this song as was too into it. the guy who'd said it was amazing was giving it the *nudgr nudge* so i knew it was the one! dont mind though...where are you watching him play?

  • Just back from seein him. Dublin. ha, you were right, he opened with that. I'll upload it if it came out any way decently.

  • cool, look forward to seeing it!

    how big was the venue?

i watched at the fleece in bristol, not very big at all! really intimate.

  • Just too good ...

  • Is he for real?

  • what do you mean?

  • My first reaction. I was totally overwhelmed and swept away by the music and thinking that this is too good to be true. ;)

  • its true. i havent a clue why he isnt more ''well-known'', when you consider people like james blunt and lemar are making the radio with their lack of talent. then you compare it to scott and he blows you away and no-ones heard of him, its an outrage. lol

  • yeah he's amazing ...i think the songs by him are beautiful and sometimes it's sounds like the songs of cat power :D love chan too :)

  • wow... amazing

  • Perfecta.

  • He opened with this song in Belfast last year. I was surreptitiously wiping a few tears away at songs end.

  • FUCK YEAH. I love this song, and Scott Matthews is a excellent musician, His whole album Passing Stranger is masterpiece. The first time I heard it, it sent chills through my body like Jeff Buckleys grace album did. Albums like this come along only once in a looooong while. It is an island of relief in an ocean of Diahareah,

  • you stole my words mate =) he does jeff and nick drake justice very well .

  • Scott ends his songs so delicately

  • This is one of the best songs I think I've ever heard, music & lyrics. Been into Scott now for about a year, saw him play live in The Spirit Store, Drogheda (Ireland) before christmas, what an amazing performance, absolutely flawless. Looking forward to the 2nd album in March.

  • is he blind?

  • heh...just relaxed I think. :)

  • for whoever wnats to tab this, try and work it out by ear. it means more that way.

  • been into this guy for a while, cos he is fuckin awesome!

  • This song is just such a perfect definition of the lyrics. Just perfect.

  • totally agree!

  • i can't find the lyrics anywhere! where did u find them?

  • Just listen to the song a few times - once they're in your head the seem to stay there...and what better song for that to be the case.

  • one of the few songs that makes me cry every time i hear it.... so many memories

  • this guys friggin awesome! his voice jus kinda pry's on your "wow this is great" gland.

  • 1:54 his voice sounds like a cello

  • Simply amazing. You can't doubt a single thing with this performance or Scott Matthews himself.

Where can I find tab? anyone?

  • simply beautiful

  • Why does my Electronic oracle seek to buffer now my precious?

  • This guys is awesome. I am a new fan!

  • Wow, this honestly sends chills down my spine. An English Jeff Buckley, with echoes of Nick drake and John Martyn.

  • Definately. I love all 3 of those mentioned.

His face has an uncanny resemblance to Nick Drake too!

  • amazing

how come he is not famous?

    :P

  • His songs have some of the greatest lyrics.

  • more beautiful music from such a talented man

  • i've thrown my guitar away and tore my voice box out............

  • I hacked my fingers off as well.

  • Just beautiful, i have saw this dude at newcastle and in glastonbury and he is effortlessly amazing.. definately someone to look up to. x

happiness is a journey, not a destination. x

  • Fear can make you a prisoner, hope can set you free!

  • wonderful. would love to hear him live.

julien these remind me of you...

  • what a legend.

  • love : D

  • Simply beautiful. What a voice!

  • you can tell scott has been listening to quality music, jackson frank, nick drake, john martyn, tim hardin,etc.....a real talent full of heart n soul....and from wolvo!!!

  • I whole heartedly agree with rastan ...

  • this guy is able connect with his music in such a way that it creates shock waves of carma.anyone that says crap like he sings for himself i bet carnt play a damn note or even sing one.get a life people you'll never get it.

  • amazing

  • been lucky enough to see scott live twice this year.both times he started with this song and the audience was captivated from the first note.such a remarkable live experience,he's only going to get better on the proof that these newer tracks are alot more complex and moving than his great debut album.the guy should be massive as artists of his kind come around once a generation if we're lucky.

  • great stuff,

can't see why anybody would fault this...

  • Blame Tiscali : )

  • The beginning of this video was so annoyingly (is that a word?) LOUD... I almost turned it off. After turning it DOWN, I had to turn it back up in order to hear it...

too Labor Intensive. 4 out of 10

    because of the annoyance

  • lmao... labor intensive....

  • Only sings for himself? What does that even mean?

  • I don't think I'd want to listen to an artist who doesn't sing or write music for themselves...no disrespect to your comments kuli, just my opinion

  • Does it matter if he sings to himself?

  • Good Song, but it sounds like he only sings for himself

  • love this song!

  • Everyone should own a copy of this mans album!Truely one of the most beautiful albums i have ever heard

  • i absolutely love this song! thanks so much for posting this! Scott has such a nice voice! this is an amazing song!

  • Thank you sho much for posting this! I can't even buy it off itunes!

  • Can now! (24/12/08)
