mighta been the beers, but i jusrt watched your vid 10 times. love your arrandemant. thanks for my latest challenge.
your slide looks pretty heavy. i have one i turned from an alloy called inconel. its about .100" thick, and real easy to handle. hard as hell, almost too bright on my tele (copy)
ok, its a squier, but i put repop '52 tele pickups in it, and wired the 3 way like an esquire. now i wish i could chicken pick.
nice job buddy... I love this song , it is nice to see someone playing something different other than simple man or sweet home alabama even free bird....
damn...can u tell me what tuning this is in so i can try and figure it out sounds like open d but i dnt wanna be tryin to figure it out in the wrong tuning
Hey, csason, you should try doing a cover of "Old Friend" by Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers. I think you would do a damn good job.
Hearing this version makes me want to begin learning it. I have the slide that i've played around with a little with your video I can get some great techniques. The raw sound using the slide brings this song out like you're playing it on the banks of the Mississippi in 1931. Great job
your great... ive ben playing guitar for awile now . and just now started learning slide... if you could make a vid showing some lesson ,that would be great.
your a bad ass brother. You just showed me how it's done. I'm about to play this tune in front of abunch of wild eye'd whiskey drankin Texans in about two weeks. I'll carry your spirit with me when i play

I really like your version.....is that possible to publish a video to show youre 'sliding'technique,i got this kind of 'finger slinding thing' and the ballad of curtis loew is one of my favirite song or maybe just make a video who shown us how to play it like u????Please reply it would be really appreciated...Keep going man u got it!!
I've been playing 40 years. You just move the slide up and down the neck and pick with your other hand. It also helps if you are a southern man like me..and if you were friends with the band that helps also.
Great job!!!!! Let's keep them alive by playing there music. Please play All I Can Do Is Write About It. You don't hear this song from Skynard and I know you have the talent to do them justice. Much Love Peach

HELL yes, that was divine. excellent interpretation. that is the very essence of the Blues, making it your own, and not faking it. the vibrato and use of harmonics... gorgeous. thank you for posting this. cheers!

is the reason you use open E flat (or D# your depending on how you look at it) cause it works for your voice?
uncledevo 4 years ago
No, actually..I tuned the guitar, and then 'correct' it, in the process of playing, meaning
I check one string (6th against 4th, etc) against another for intonation..and along the way dropped a bit..sry it wasn't in key.
csason 4 years ago
thanks. i use a korg tuner they no longer make... a GT12 great item for open G and D (A & E are too much stress on the truss rod, easier to capo)
Do you listen to Elmore James & Johnny Winter?
uncledevo 4 years ago
Wow.. Korg is a tuner I haven't seen in a while.
Yes, I have listened to Elmore a few times. I studied JW, and went to his shows a few times. I like Johnny a lot, he played a chitlin circuit after his heyday, and the venues were small and HOT..so they were good shows, around his 'real peak' after the release of 3rd Degree, really good stuff, all blues.
csason 4 years ago
you might want to check out Ronnie Baker Brooks - Bald Headed Woman off Golddigger sounds like a page out of Elmo's play book...with a JW twist!
