This might not be too popular of an opinion here, but imo MK>>KI. Killer Instinct was great and all, but Mortal Kombat was the ORIGINAL badass fighting game and their charcters were cooler and had more classic moves. What I'm saying is, without the success of MK, there would be no KI.

Except in the Capcom vs. series I can't think of any modern fightiing games that use a fighting mecahnic based on more than 5 hit combos, why hasn't this caught on in modern games? Does the fighting game genre not want to give their fighters more power and give the fighters the ability to smack around their opponents as if they were rag dolls? Because that's basically what we want in a fighting game, the ability to fight like we can't fight in real life.

@DarianTheShadow I do enjoy it but being old does not excuse faults, I am jusdging the game by the same stands I would have back then (which are the same ones I did judge them by back then) The combat is fun if a bit broken (look at cinder for the most obvious example but everyone has some easy infinates that break the game... which is fun in friendly matches but frustrating in tournies.) and some of the characters in the series are stereotypes that don't seem to fit with the rest of the cast.

@DarianTheShadow Tekken was awesome, I rememebr that the idea of using a button for each limb was perfect. though not as pretty as sprite based fighters Tekken 1,3 and Virtua Fighter 2 are some of the best polygonal fighters around.

I'm gonna buy the arcade version, i played this when i was 13 and the snes version is nothing compared to this, after the ps2 ect... i though i'd never buy an arcade game but nothing compares to this and the snes is just crap...
