This would never work... If he catches that ball, he's screwed and number 2, any legit post player is going to be agressive and use one of his forearms to keep you from being able to steal it if he catches it.
This could be dangerous because, once the defender moves in front , the offensive post player can nudge him forward a little to give himself more space, then the pass can be made over top the defender, to the post player.
@OMGItsGodzilla10 Dean Smith,John Woodin,Pat Reiley,Larry Brown,Phil Jackson-Just a few of the greatest coaches and all are white so shut the fuck up!
you could just pass it over the head of the defender, offensive player spins around and now the defensive player is way out position. offensive player gets an uncontested layup. at 1:00 thats proper defensive
luvrodeo. . .The passer is out of the picture. This is an effective technique to guard and effective post player. You have to get your body into them and if you do full front, you are susceptible to the ball reverse and dumb down. The most difficult part of doing this is if the post player knows what he is doing, it's difficult and takes max work to step over in front of him.
You mention Ian is between basket and man and he most defently not in that position. Also he has his back turned towards the ball and is not properly position for good defense!! He also does not have good space from his man! This I do not agree is proper defense!!
or depending on the defense you are running you could just straight up front the guy which makes passes really hard and if they pass over your head you got your help defence their to hook you up
It's good to go over the top when switching from high-side denial to low side because it is then easier to defend against the drive from the offensive wing player with the basketball (assuming that he hasn't already used his dribble).
It all depends really, I find going infront of the defender is quite risky. You go infront of the defender, I can just lob the pass and your opponent is already infront of you faced to the ring. Or I can just throw an alley oop.
I always want to make sure my body is keeping him away from the ring. My body will always be blocking between HIM and the RIM.
True for 2 on 2 or 3 on 3, but for 5 on 5, I think this is a better way of playing defense in the post. We just hope that your teammate is in help defense to deny the lob against an athletic opponent with hops, lol.
if I'm the passer, I would lob the pass.

if there is a smart passer and a smart post player pass it baseline and all you have to do is seal the man off and its an easy bucket
