@Zare87 That really surprises me. Because until my team, England, came to town for the second time, Croatia had never lost there. I thought that should surely mean they had fantastic supporters. In fact in my wonderings as to why the tickets would be free, I wondered if it might be as a thank you for the support over the years.

I'll have to ask my Croatian friend about this. He was there for the Belarus match, he can tell me his take on that.

@Lorric101 yeah i was bias ;).........it was the 20 year anniversary since croatia played it's first match as an independent country so they wanted to make it special but there is very little interest in zagreb to watch croatia play malta so it was the only way to get fans there, but it rained and maksimir is a terrible stadium son nobody came......had they played in some other smaller croatian city who are not used to see the national team, there would be no problems filing out seats

Can't blame them for sticking with that stadium though, when it's brought so much success.

Is that also the reason Croatia played their qualifier on a different date to everyone else bar Finland and San Marino?

@Lorric101 not necessarly, the 20 years anniversary was not in november....i have no idea why only 4 teams played that day, it's a bit strange

I've no idea either, though I did notice it's two teams playing at home against absolute minnows. Though still, why the matches are out of sync, I don't know.

I've looked at the match schedule for everyone, and for some reason Croatia is off the main match day several times. I wonder why.
