Damn, this is kind of sad. In the beginning, as through out the show, he kept forgetting the lyrics. In his pseudo auto biography, there was section in there from Beck (who was Elliotts good friend) who said that he went to a show after Elliott was clean, and he was doing this (forgetting lyrics) an he had to leave because he started to cry.
@ableroo - Yea...Beck said he started crying and had to leave because he knew it was coming to the end when Elliott could seemingly care so little about something he loved so much. It's hard to believe we have shortly surpassed the seventh year anniversary of his death.
he was a;; over the place n this song, done it better in other performances.Still a great singer songwriter and pity he succumbed to drugs that eventually ruined him.
Those girls in the back were his sister and girlfriend jennifer chiba. He recorded jennifers voice on his crossing"Gimme one good reason not to do it(Jeniffer:Because i love you)So do it"After she recorded her lyric he asked her too marry him,she said yes...If two of the people closest to him crying out how they really feel(Much like elliott himself)is offensive then what is the vandalization of the figure 8 wall meorial?
the first lyrics he uses here are "The big problem was the main attraction" instead of "The king's crossing was the main attraction".... talk about a haunting confession...
the first lyrics he uses here are " The big problem was the my attraction" instead of "The king's crossing was the main attraction"..... talk about a haunting confession
im not sure what he went through but this feels exactly like i am.... i am so depressed lately... its not my life, i live an ok life, its just me... this song is so hauntingly beautiful.... id die to meet u elliott
I don't know what it is about this video, but it just makes it sink in that I'll never see this man...
it's one of the saddest things to deal with right now, I'm crying because of the "give me one good reason not to do it." I could've gave you a thousand Elliott...
This is beautiful.. as far as people mentioning the mistakes, wasn't this just a little after the worst of his addictions? Regardless of his struggles though, he was beautiful person.
Anyone else notice the "we love you" bit at the exact moment it appears on the studio version? Did he get the idea from this show or had the studio one been leaked?
it was his girlfriend and sister. They started shouting it out at his shows when he would sing that line around the tmie he wrote it. apparently when he recorded it he asked her to marry him immediately after he had her come in and do that part.
Like Danny said it's his sister Ashley and girlfriend Jennifer back stage. They would shout it ever time he sang "gimme one good reason not to do it."
Elliott plays amazing here, I love this set and thank you for showing video. Who cares if he is fucked up or suicidal he is the man and thats all that matters.

I hate it how "the big problem" works better than "the king's crossing" in the beginning :/

I have heard so many different recordings of this particular performance, to actually see a video is pretty awesome.

It's almost offensive to hear those girls in the background giggling. An amazing song and performance.

I apparently needed to reword what I wrote. I don't mean his sister and GF who yell. I'm talking about the giggling and chatting way earlier.

Ahhhh well those fuckers just don't know what they're missing i'd die to see this show,or even any of his shows.

this song is about heroin addiction and so is a fond farewell
graysandblue 2 years ago 2
exactly, i think a fond farewell is more about happily losing an addiction. however kings crossing is about missing his obsession.

can anyone tell me if this song was ever played album style with a full band?
I had imagined when the drums and bass kick in it would have been pretty amazing live.

fyi - he wrote this song about four years before he died, if not earlier. with the exact same lyrics.
