Damn, this is kind of sad. In the beginning, as through out the show, he kept forgetting the lyrics. In his pseudo auto biography, there was section in there from Beck (who was Elliotts good friend) who said that he went to a show after Elliott was clean, and he was doing this (forgetting lyrics) an he had to leave because he started to cry.

it was his girlfriend and sister. They started shouting it out at his shows when he would sing that line around the tmie he wrote it. apparently when he recorded it he asked her to marry him immediately after he had her come in and do that part.
