It's a fact that every OS has it's advantages and disadvantages. I myself worked on every Windows there is except servers, but also on Macs, BSDs. For some years I'm using Linux and I'm satisfied with it, but that doesn't mean that there are not many people who will find both Windows and Mac more suitable for them. Regarding performances, Windows and Mac are jokes compared to Linux, but, Linux can sometimes be too much for average user. It's all a matter of preference and knowledge.

I've been working on a Vista, 7, and Ubuntu 8.10 tri-boot and I've got the Vista and Ubuntu but am waiting for instructions on re-installing GRUB on it after the 7 installation. Do you know how to? Like I heard there is a floppy image you can use but I can't find it and don't know how to burn floppy images. It would be wonderful if you could help :)
Before I had a quad boot with 4 OS's in a single menu but forgot how I did it.
This is what I did last time. You must boot into your live Ubuntu CD, open terminal and type sudo fdisk -ls to see your partitions, then sudo grub and then find(hd0,0) or whatever your Ubuntu is. Then setup(hd0,0), again whatever your Ubuntu is.
After that it's using grub and you can edit grub to boot the different OSs, but I don't think you can boot Windows 7 Build 7000 from grub (I had issues).
4 OSs sound like a bit much for me :D Maybe in the future, but not with my dinky 250GB Laptop HD :D

im using vista on 2 pc's and i can't go back to just XP. It was great on my previous PC and then i recently bought an HP for £650 and i have perfect performance all the time. The OS runs perfectly well and the only crashes are from Adobe Flash Player when im in IE7, but i could just use a different browser, as Safari, Firefox and IE are all available on Windows.
Linux only has Firefox, and Mac only has Safari and Firefox. (there are other browsers but i don't care for them lol)

Actually, if you check in the sound settings in Vista, you'll see that the on showing here is the logout sound, not the shutdown sound. Vista doesn't have one I think.

I have 2 98's and none of them have that shutdown sound.
What you have put for the sound of 98' is the Microsoft Windows version 3.1, Microsoft Windows version 3.1 with the advanced server, Microsoft Windows NT Beta - 1993, Microsoft Windows version 3.2 (Chinese), Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 3.5, and 3.51.
Go to Control Panel, Sounds, and then look at Exit Windows. It is set to nothing as a default, but look at the dropdown menu. Logoff is the shutdown sound that is used. DUH.
title.wma: if you are running windows xp, go to C:\Windows\System 32\oobe\images\title.wma to find it. If you aren't running it, just search title.wma on youtube and you will find it.
I think windows need to build them selves an elite version of there operating system fucking quickly before mac takes over, then windows becomes the industry standard for music/video editing etc.

im using vista on 2 pc's and i can't go back to just XP. It was great on my previous PC and then i recently bought an HP for £650 and i have perfect performance all the time. The OS runs perfectly well and the only crashes are from Adobe Flash Player when im in IE7, but i could just use a different browser, as Safari, Firefox and IE are all available on Windows.
Linux only has Firefox, and Mac only has Safari and Firefox. (there are other browsers but i don't care for them lol)

Linux only has Firefox? But saying that I assume you never bothered searching for a different browser.There are plenty out there not only for Linux but for Mac as well.About IE I can't say much as I retired it a long time ago since I had my private details stolen while using that crappy browser.

i know linux will have other browsers, but firefox, safari and IE are the only ones that interest me. Opera and netscape and all the rest don't interest me at all. FF IE And Safari are the only ones i'll ever bother with.
Each one has some features the other 2 don't have. Sometimes 2 of them will have features the other doesn't. IE and firefox are similar in interface and have some things safari doesn't.
I like windows because i can use all 3 of them.

Actually, if you check in the sound settings in Vista, you'll see that the on showing here is the logout sound, not the shutdown sound. Vista doesn't have one I think.

It's called Windows Welcome music.
It's only on Windows XP.
You can find it by going to Start, Run, then type system32, press OK, go to the folder oobe then images, and then you'll find a file called title or title.wma, open it and that's the song!
If you have Vista, you will not find this song! Bye!

I still think everyone is right when they say the Windows 98' shutdown sound is wrong BECAUSE IT IS.
I have 2 98's and none of them have that shutdown sound.
What you have put for the sound of 98' is the Microsoft Windows version 3.1, Microsoft Windows version 3.1 with the advanced server, Microsoft Windows NT Beta - 1993, Microsoft Windows version 3.2 (Chinese), Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 3.5, and 3.51.
I think i rest my case.

Go to Control Panel, Sounds, and then look at Exit Windows. It is set to nothing as a default, but look at the dropdown menu. Logoff is the shutdown sound that is used. DUH.
