  • very very good movie .. but very scary x((((

  • in the dutch novel. and the dutch film, they both die

  • Comment removed

  • is this a poor man's vanished?

  • wtf man, zeggen remake maar dit is meer een deel 2 met andere personages. moest net het boek voor literatuur lezen,,,,het boek is echt wel mooi om te lezen.

  • people it's actually a book js.

  • ANYWAY THX TO ^GREENSUCKSBLUERULES^ FOR YR INVALUABLE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • liking the original doesnt mean you dont have to like the remake, or the other way around, people that rule out one thing because of another are stupid, they are both great films, ive noticed everyone who says the remake is shit seen the original first, the original has a better ending and atmospher but the remake has better acting and is more enjoyable to watchn. stop hating

  • Spoorloos is better

  • Did I hear Snapes voice???

  • I fell in love with Spoorloos, the one and only, when i was 15. One of the best movies ever made, so minimal and chilling. This awful remake just shows why European directors shouldn't sell out to the hollywood industry. What did Sluizer got for this, just bad reviews..so what's the point? Jeff Bridges was pretty good but he couldn't save the whole film anyways. If you love true Cinema, do yourself a favour, watch the original film.

  • what is the dutch film called?

  • @mzedong001 Spoorloos :)

  • Is he dead? NOOOOOOO!!!

  • @colin92388 i've red the dutch original book, called 'het gouden ei'. i must admit, it has the exact details as in the book, but then better.

  • this movie is fricken terrifying. total example of how thrillers where once cool

  • A good suspenseful thriller. Jeff Bridges is excellent as the psychopath.

  • I was so happy to see Sandra Bullock and then she isn't in most of the movie WTF???

  • haha!!! Sandra bullock before she was famous!!!

  • this coffee is druged...lol

  • let me clear things up:

the dutch book: "het gouden ei" in english "the vanishing".

then the dutch movie: "spoorloos", in english "the vanishing".

then this (American) movie: "the vanishing". this movie is a remake from the original "spoorloos" it doesn't have a dutch title.

so in english: book: the vanishing, movie: the vanishing, movie: the vanishing.

in dutch: book "het gouden ei" movie: "spoorloos" movie: "the vanishing"

only the american vanishing has got a happy ending.

  • the dutch film is called : "spoorloos" and the boek: "het gouden ei" , I accually thought the movie is great, I don't mean the Dutch one, (who sucks) but this one... i really do...

  • so stupid.

  • whats the dutch film called?

  • There was anthor movie called the vanishing it came out in 1988 it was the same story....

  • THIS movie IS bad AS shit

  • this trailer completely fucks the movie.

  • I love Jeff Bridges...<3 <3

  • What are you doing here JACK.

  • But sandra isnt even in alot of scenes is she?:/

  • spoiler

  • understanding human emotion ruins the movie. If this would happen to someone you loved you would go crazy not knowing as well. Kind of Ironic

  • I love how it gives away the ending in the trailer o-o

  • the book has a stupid end but it's a good book!

  • Never thought I'd say this about a movie but I honestly think I liked the trailer better than the movie :(

  • Why hasnt this whole movie been uploaded on youtube? The whole movie should be uploaded

  • Funny enough, 17 years later, Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock both win Oscars on the same night!

  • go watch the original waay creepierr

  • Such a good movie. <3

  • @ScreamingILY hahahahahaha

    thats a funny joke

    its shit

  • I hate this film, I read the original dutch Novel and watched the dutch film, and then the American one. They changed names, times, and the most important happening in the story. You should watch the dutch movie witch has a real good story instead of this feel-good ending film.

  • @brasz101 I should've never finished watching this movie when I left the scene of Jeff Bridges & Sutherland drove off from the apartment on a paranoramic long distance frame shot. I've left that scene 2 years ago. True story.

    -R78

  • @brasz101

I'm reading 'Het Gouden Ei' right now for school. Apparently, the english movie ends well i.o. the dutch ending. I wonder why people would screw with such a brilliant story.

  • @brasz101 nope

  • @brasz101 the same happent with "The Shining". Everybody knows the one with Jack Nicholson that is really changed, including the ending. There's a TV miniserie of The Shining that it's loyal to the book and it's way more emotive and intriguing. I love it!

  • yeah, way to blow THE ENTIRE MOVIE

  • @setpunk12 Thanks for the heads up.

  • I just finished watching the original Dutch/French movie. This trailer shows literally THE ENTIRE plot.

  • great actor kiefer is ..

  • Eu tenho esse filme gravado da tv e vi algumas cenas que não tenho. Obrigada por COMPARTILHAR.

  • THE ORIGINAL AND THE REMAKE THEY BOTH ARE FANTASTIC , DONE BY THE SAME DIRECTOR George SLUIZER

  • Okay the whole film was revealed in this trailer.

  • Go and watch the original....this is a remake bullshit.god i hate it

  • Great movie!

  • I read the book a few days ago, Jeff Bridges is the excellent guy!

  • This Movie is so great i love it.

  • bad film. the original, however, is the creepiest film i've ever seen. it's brilliant.

  • The eerie tone of the original is completely gone in this one... It amazes me that the director of the original decided to destroy his own movie

  • Garbage American remake of the Franco-Dutch classic Spoorloos. Hollywood makes nothing but crap!

  • Greatt movie...scared the crap outta me..

  • spoorloos my top 10 -watch it

  • i saw this movie on tv the other night but i fell asleep at the end??did he get out of the coffin??and was diane alive or did barney kill her???and what happened to rita??

  • @pogah1985 , he got out, she was alive, barney comes at them witha chainsaw and superman swoops down and takes them to metropolis in the sunset, they all lived happily ever after

  • @pogah1985 He tossed Rita's salad. Then he dug up Diane's corpse and had sex with her decomposed body. I love the end of this movie.

  • Is there a remake? If yes, what year was it released and was it still called, The Vanishing? Thank you. Take care. Peace.

  • This film has its weak moments (the children's book that Nancy Travis reads is a definite lowpoint), but it also has good acting, a terrific score and (at times) a rudimentary understanding of what made the original work, which is more than you can say for today's horror remakes (*coughZombieweencough*).

Good trailer. Does anyone know where the music playing at 0:38-1:20 is from?

  • I've been wondering this for a long time. I swear I heard it in the film Off Limits, but it's not on the soundtrack. It does sound like James Newton Howard, though. Who knows!

  • I replied to this already, but I just watched the part of Off Limits I was thinking of, and the trailer music Lonestarr357 is looking for totally is in the film (around the 54 minute mark). Just not on the soundtrack.

  • @whisper3978 Thanks a bunch. That's great music. Pity it's not on CD.

Now that I think about it, I can't help but think that someday, when this airs on TV, it'll trumpet "Academy Award winners Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock". Trust me. It's gonna happen.

  • Bullocks career just starting to boom

  • Was sandra bullocks character in this movie alot or did they barely show her?

  • @ray164510 They barely showed her at all! The only time you saw her were the first scene and flashbacks of her when she was alive...the rest is just that crazy creepy guy, Keifer Sutherland and Nancy Travis.

  • I so want to see that! I think Kiefer Sutherland is a really good actor. And Jeff Bridges looks really creepy in this.

  • kiefer and sandra was going together at that time and that made their acting in this movie better, great movie.

  • I remeber seeing this on TV when I was little. Bridges freaked me the hell out.

  • creepiest movie ive ever seen. never again

  • One of the worst endings I have ever seen! Huge build up for nothing. This movie is crap, don't waste your time.

  • i agree, the ending was horrible, but the movie is still good!

  • when you say you hate the ending, do you mean the part where you find out what happened to diane, or the fact that he gets out?

  • i hated the fact that there was so much build up and tension for nothing.

  • I guess in the original it's much more haunting. In this one it's just. Oh, he got out. The end...

  • i like this movie.

  • Poor Kiefer! Shooting this movie was the biggest horror of his life. He was really buried and Nancy Travis had to be very quick to dig him up. It is all because the director wanted to see the true fear and shock on Namcy`s face. So he decided to do it for real...

  • @kathykisslight Thats crazy as shit! Man...Keifer must have been really scared...he could of died and sufficated! Even though it was to make it real and intense, I wouldn't risk putting some one in harms way. He could have sued if anything happened. But thank god, nothing did. He went through with it because its his job though, but still.

  • love this film

  • Jeff Bridges is great in this one.

From Big Lebowski to Arlington Road.

    This is a total buy!

  • I have read the book and can't wait to see (both) movies!

  • im watching this right now!!!!

  • I've not seen the original, but this film is amazing, very rarely do I see Jeff Bridges in roles such as this one.

  • loved this movie! one of my favorite....don't miss it

can't think of a worse way to die

  • so.. how did he die?

  • gee, I could see the movie, but I think I'll just ask as a comment on youtube.

  • Jeff Bridges performance in this movie was excellent. His acting was very believable! He nailed the crazy dude's character with the walk, kind of slow talker and tone, the lost smile, up to the way he fixed his hair throught the movie...

After watching Jeff in this movie I always think of him as being a little crazy... he played the role so well...

  • The ending is in the trailer?! As if the Americanised version of it wasn't dumbed down enough....they put the fucking twist in the trailer?!?!.......

  • @bawpsherep hahahahahahhaah i cannnnot believe that.

  • i wish you fag fucks would stop fucking posting movie spoilers on here if you're gonna fucking post one at least post spoiler alert beforehand. now i dont even want to watch the fucking movie

  • @coulbm06 This is not a spoiler...its a trailer. Basically they made a trailer that almost explained the whole entire movie....the over done it. Trailers is suppose to give you a peek at the movie so you want to watch it, but this makes people not to want to watch the movie, like you said.

  • In general this thriller was really creepy. Only one thing that I hate - poor Sandra Bullock's character was horribly killed

  • If you post spoilers, you should warn people before they read it. You just spoiled the movie for me, thanks a lot dickhead

  • your scared of that part of the remake? You'd have a heart attack in the original.

  • luv this film

  • do you know if the ending of the vanishing is the same as the original?

does he get burried alive at the end and finaly dies?

  • if I remember correct they dont die in the end.. but in the original(dutch book) they both die

  • Iwas a fraid that Jeff wold die in this movie fortunately He din't i Iwas sad for Diane, thoug however!!!! very good job 5* 4 U
