I had never seen Initial D, but thought I'd check it out. All I can say is, Wow, that was absolutely brutal. I mean terrible - embarrassing to watch even. I'm almost ashamed that I am such a fan of Japanese cars. Is this considered to be anime? It makes sense because I have always hated anime. This stuff seemed to really appeal to the guys born in the 80s and 90s.

Ehh... Since I grew up listening to the dubs from TP I like them better. This dub kinda pissed me off. Everyone sounds like they're on helium compared to TP. And TP made it a little more interesting instead of forecasting everything that was going on. TP's music IS corny but it grew on me. So to me it's sort of like using the cast of Full House for the set of Family Matters. But, anyone know if Funimation dubbed anything past Extra Stage? (3rd Stage the movie and 4rth Stage)

As much as I love and prefer this english dub over Tokyopop's crappy overly-americanized dub, FUNimation made Keisuke sound like a total dick. Yeah, he did get disappointed that Kenji ended up his opponent, before Takumi showed up. But in the original Japanese, he didn't go as far as calling Kenji a loser. But that's just me being nitpicky. Overall, I think FUNimation did a good job with dubbing Initial D.

@DancingOtaku To me, the voice acting in the other one sounded a little better though. The only thing that sucked in the Tokyopop dub was the music and the fact that they used other names for some characters. This one, however, a little better because they are using the real character names and the real music. If they had the voice actors from the other dub and had them do this one, I'd say that it would sound a bit better than it already is. Do you agree?

@neonnwave Yeah! Had they used the original VA's from Tokyopop, they probably would've sounded better than before, especially with FUNimation's new script. Since the studio is at FUNimation, it's impossible to just get the people from TP/Bang Zoom to reprise their roles. They'd have to fly to Texas. Still though, that would be cool of they did. I would've loved to see Crispin Freeman reprise his role as Iketani and Steve Blum play as Keisuke again. However, I still like the new cast. =)
