They're not underrated- on one website Let It Be got listed as # 1-by 4 guys. They aren't really pioneers, they just have attitude, and they express it really good. Ramones=pioneers. Clash=punk pioneers.

I agree (though I also like the Ramones and don't consider them flashy) and on reason I like the Mats so much is because they just look like normals guys, not overdoing the whole punk thing...just real, raw rock & roll...gotta love 'em.
