  • Now I understand why Johnny's gonna die was so (charmingly) out of tune... probably played it after a bunch of these thrashers. In 'All Over but the Shouting' multiple people say they'd have been an incredible band if they only bought a tuner. Regardless this was definitely a good night to see the Replacements

  • Best videos on Youtube? You bet! Thanks!

  • Damn this is great!!!

  • Livin' breathin' punk 'n' roll

  • Wow, they're fucking great! Bob is the master on lead claw.

  • Sik-Fux rule!!!

  • Wish I could have seen this band. Can't believe this came out in 81. So much better than today's music

  • tHANX IM A FAN

  • Raw Rock Rules, Fuck Image and Fuck Nike while Im at it.

  • where did this footage come from? Is there a dvd of the whole show available somewhere? Tommy totally slowed his playing in the later years and god damn smokin and drinking bob stinson, rippin it!

  • @dariano2541 During the first week of September 1981, Twin/Tone took the mobile recording unit and rented a bunch of video gear and recorded 15 bands live (five nights) at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis... These movies are from the show on September 5th

  • is skip it a cover?

  • Man,looking at Tommy here it was all so promising.

Who would have thought it would end up with the Guns ' n' Roses,,,,LOL.

  • damn tommy stinson's a beast. Im gonna start listening to The Replacements and playing their songs on bass.

  • Wow. Put me in this time capsule! Amazing! I'm actually fracking speechless.

  • Is it me or is it easier to understand the lyrics in these videos than on the records? Also, whoever posted these so totally rocks!

  • hahahahaha now I know where Tommy got his stage moves from

  • All of these 7th Entry videos are gold. Thank you so much for posting them.

  • One of the all time bests, acttually got my band playing faster and into hardcore after hearing stink. gotta owe them alot

  • Amazing. A lot tighter than I remember them, and how old is Tommy in this?

  • I think he's around 14 in this video.

  • who cares if they're "influential"?

what they are is fucking brilliant.

although, just to make a point...it's hard to see a lot of nineties alt/emo/pop-punk bands coming along without them.

    totally amazing.

  • Agreed.

  • They're not underrated- on one website Let It Be got listed as # 1-by 4 guys. They aren't really pioneers, they just have attitude, and they express it really good. Ramones=pioneers. Clash=punk pioneers.

  • Underated? I know tons of musicians in the upper midwest who rate them as some of the best rockers Ever... they just got a bad rep because of their drinking.

  • why these guys arent ALWAYS mentioned in the same breath as The Ramones (yawn), The Clash and other punk and alt pioneers, Ill never know. This is the goddamn best. maybe cause they werent flashy enough? No mohawks chains and leather....Just plaid and my 8th grade haircut. Matts are simply the best.

  • I love the Placemats... they had the attitude but weren't really influential.

  • I agree (though I also like the Ramones and don't consider them flashy) and on reason I like the Mats so much is because they just look like normals guys, not overdoing the whole punk thing...just real, raw rock & roll...gotta love 'em.

  • Possibly the most underated band of all time, damn I should have gotten on that bus to Chicago with Westerberg!!#*$
