@whyungk89 Oh? I thought it was around the 2.75 GB size. From what I understand, Windows 32-bit limits the usability of the RAM. It's because of the 32-bit addressing or something. If you have the 64-bit version of Windows, it's able to use the RAM's max size.
@fbhax55 Unfortunately, I don't really do game tests anymore. Besides, I don't have those two games and I don't have enough space in the HDD to accommodate them either.
I just got an Asus 1215N and I am having really low fps when I run WarCraft3... I thought 1215N is good enough to run WC3 in decent settings...How can I fix this? It only requires 600mhz cpu speed and 256 mb ram in recommended setting...
@whyungk89 Hmm, that's weird. A game that old should run in this machine perfectly. How low a frame rate are you getting? Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? You can also try to set the game launcher to Win XP compatibility.
@thugsnw My Driver version of Nvidia Ion is 8.17.12.5743... Should I upgrade to 8.17.12.6658? I could not play the game cuz of the lag... The screen was very choppy when I was running it... The detail of animation was good though...
@thugsnw I am not sure if I have the newest driver... I have the version 8.17.12.5743 right now and the version 8.17.12.6658 is available from DriverMax... Should I try to download it from the official nvidia website? If so, is it Ion (notebooks) or Ion LE (notebooks)? which one is it? The screen was very choppy when I was running the wc3... it was too laggy (unplayable)
@whyungk89 Not that. This: nvidia(dot)com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-285.62-whql-driver(dot)html replace "(dot)" with an actual dot. YT doesn't allow URLs on the comments, which is retarded.
@whyungk89 One more thing, make sure your preferred graphics processor is the NVIDIA processor. You can check if you have that set on the NVIDIA Control Panel.
@thugsnw I think that Play 4 Free game dont use Intel Atom properly. While I test it it only use 30% of my Atom.
This ION 2 is a joke. The only think it can do is run Full HD movies good. The only game that run good at it is Need for Speed Underground 2. 800x600 2x Anti lasing everything maxed out. Other games need to be at minimum settings. And every game before can be played on the Integrated onboard grafics :(
@monstero111 I think running videos at 1080p is what the ION graphics card is meant for. They never advertised it for high-end gaming. But some games run at decent to good framerates at okay-ish quality. I was able to run Dead Space on mostly High settings at 1280x720 and it gives around 40 to 50+ fps, especially with AA turned off. Portal runs great, too, and maybe COD4 to some extent. TF2 and SF4 runs okay on High. Others good on Low to Medium.
@monstero111 Why, what framerates do you get in BC2? I also tried the P4F of Battlefield before, and it wasn't as smooth as this. Not sure if it improves with the driver I have now, which could be old because it's been a while since I updated it. Presently, my "Gaming" score in Windows Experience is 5.3, I think. This netbook also runs at 1.8 GHz dual-core, while yours (I think) runs at 1.66 GHz. Can't say if that small difference makes an impact, though.
@pascalschulzde This computer doesn't have an optical drive either. You can get an external optical drive just as I have. Not sure if installation via USB flash drive is possible either. You can Google about that.
@pascalschulzde Hate to burst your bubble, but I doubt you'd be able to play GTA4 at all without a decent video card (and pretty good processor to boot). It won't even run smoothly at low settings in this computer.
please try sims 3 please please please make video and i will subscribe and tell people to subscribe please please because i want to buy one only because sims 3 please and i dont know will it work or not please thanks
@jadchaar713 Of course it is. What would you expect from an Atom-powered computer running a 2010 shooter? Come on. At least it can run and it's somewhat playable.
@7Sn1per I don't thing it'll be pretty. Haha. I tried MW2 and it didn't work as well as I hoped. Crysis is gonna be tougher. I might do TF2 and Portal one of these days, though (since I got them free on Steam, hehe).
@Beastman651 Ordinary netbooks can run PSX emulators really well. Yeah, but modern games, not so much -- maybe not at all because most of them only use shader model 2.0.
@BlueNinja1212 Definitely. Most of your specs are higher than mine. Your video card won't be bottlenecked by the CPU either, as it is in my case, and it's a lot more capable than my ION (since this is only a rebranding of a 9400m, which is an older technology).
@tordvillegas Yes, but maybe worse than mine since your graphics card isn't dedicated. Your CPU outperforms mine by a mile, though. I only have the Atom, and even if it's dual-core, it's really meant for light tasks. Without the dedicated ION (or 9400m) graphics card, it probably won't be able to run Bad Company 2 at all.
@villagewhore911 Well, I'm not really sure. I think 1215B has its processor weakened a bit, and changed to an AMD, compared to the N model. The graphics card is ATI and has DirectX 11 support. Other specs are pretty much the same with the N. Processor and graphics card are widely preferred, but the margin in performance between them may be narrow to negligible. I dunno, try watching YouTube vids about them.
@tonef82 It's not exactly "ION 2". It's pretty much the first ION with little additions that you probably won't notice. However, I've been reading things about the first ION being able to run games a bit smoother than this one. That was then; not sure how the two compare right now.
@13Sakke13 Guess that explains it. Thought both have 1x and the earlier version just had more updates to make it more optimized. 4x was probably too much for this netbook to have.
@thugsnw Lol I meant that if they would produce these ION netbooks with ULV or i3 processors instead of the slow atoms there would be a major performance improvement :)
@13Sakke13 Ohhh, yeah they're processors. Thought they were something else that could optimize the ION graphics card. Well, that's a given. But they may no longer be considered as netbooks as they'll consume more power.
@thugsnw The SU7300 would only use 10W and the Atom uses around 18W. But the Atom is fine for daily tasks, the ulv processors would give it a pretty big boost (mostly in gaming and cpu asking tasks).
@thugsnw I don't think they produce (they do but not for recent notebooks anymore) them anymore, but in benchmarks the dual core SU7300 got twice as much points as the atom D525. It was used in 11.6" and 13.3" notebooks.
@Playstation3Gamer10 I don't think that's even meant for gaming, looking at its specs. Integrated graphics can't handle games as well, or as efficiently, as dedicated graphics cards like NVIDIA and ATI. Maybe that's the problem.
@LedZeppelin4ACDC I know. Glossy screens weren't nice before; they aren't nice now. Wonder why manufacturers still use them in computers (is it cost-effective?), or any electronic device whose screens get the most attention.
@thugsnw I agree buy why is the outline of the screen kinda wierd? Around the edges of the screen it looks like a frame or something that is gloss or matte or a different type of screen. Why?
@LedZeppelin4ACDC Oh, that's my fault. I bought a screen protector, but they don't a size that perfectly fits the screen so I got a bigger one. Thought I could cut it, but it's harder than it looks. So I just pasted it around the frame. Since the front lid is beveled, I got that effect. Would rather have that than have the screen exposed to dust and dirt. I'll fix it eventually... I guess. Hehe.
@92310CAMILLE First, it's not a webcam. It's a digital still camera with a video feature (like most digicams have today). Second, I ONLY use Fraps to display the framerate the game's getting. If I use it to record the gameplay as well, it will away processing priority for the game, thus, slowing the game down and display inaccurate framerates. @311XtremeGaming Nice. I guess there's your answer Mr. Coddern. Yeah, I've read MP uses less of the computer's power since it doesn't need to run any AI. Thanks for sharing. :D
