  • I can't believe the hate on Alonso or Alonso fans, for what was one of the greatest last laps in modern F1. He was on inters? Yeah. Why? He took the huge risk to change on the last lap. It's called strategy.

And no matter the tires you have, it's very, very hard to overtake on a wet track.

He took the risk, passed 4 cars in a sub-par Renault, in one lap, on the incredibly tricky, slippery Spa track surface.

If that's not impressive, I don't know what is. Senna would congratulate him IMO.

  • Hombre no es por quitarle merito, pero es el unico que tenia neumaticos de lluvia.

  • Mitico

  • mas que la ultima vuelta hay que alabar las 4 ultimas curvas jaajaja GRANDE

  • easy mode

    normal mode

    hard mode

    Alonso mode

    xDDD

  • @Formula1Lomejor hahahaha- thats a good one!

  • So they were on slicks and he was on inters or full wets ? Yet another Alonso fanboy making something out of relatively little.. 'Alonso takes a breath.. OMG!'

  • 0:40 o yeah vaya contravolante en el piano y pisandolo con agua hay que tenerlos bien puestos...

  • Vettel: Well, this hasn't been my day. Hmm, just have to settle finishing in 4th pla-OH WTF!

Alonso: I am faster than you!

No disrespect to either driver intended.

  • @joshua9312 Epic xD.

  • look at the results: formula1 .com /results/season/2008/799/

  • 0:16 asfault* lol

  • @Formula1Onboard1 Asphalt* lol

  • @joshua9312 lol

  • @Formula1Onboard1 lol (I wrote it backwards btw.)

  • This is so awesome, cold blooded Alonso :D

  • Alonso > Hamilton

  • I was thinking his name is Alonso no Alsonso xD

  • @HaloReachTutorials1 You are the first to notice lol!

  • great ALSONSO last lap!

(see the title of the video!!)

  • that was awesome

  • It's wet out there boys. You can hear the tires chattering badly as he comes out of the pits.

That first uphill chicane is so treacherous.

  • its only the tyres that got him the positions, otherwise on dry tyres theres no way he would have got past vettel or heidfeld

  • @beyblader10171 he didn't get past Heidfeld. Nick stopped after 42 laps for intermeds, Fernando after 43 out of 44. On lap 42, Fernando was ahead of Nick, but he finished behind him. the white BMW Fernando overtook was Kubica, not Heidfeld.

  • which position had Heidfeld before he changed to inters? somebody Knows? cause many people highlight the last lap of Alonso passing from P8 to P4, But i don't remember where has Heifeld before, i think taht was behind Alonso 2 laps to end, but Nick finish third, second finally when hamilton was punished.

  • @vickmatell He was 7th or 8th i think

  • @vickmatell Nick was 8th when he came into the pits with 2 laps to go, he didn't lose a place during his stop. then Kimi shredded his Ferrari (Nick was 7th), when Nick entered his last lap, he became 6th (due to Fernando's stop), and during his last lap in the Malmedy-Pouhon-Section he passed Vettel (5th), Kubica(4th) and Bourdais(3rd). After the race, Hamilton got penalized and Nick was promoted to 2nd. I think his last lap at Spa 2008 can be compared to Senna's first lap at Donington 1993.

  • Alonso is the real 2007 & 2010 F1 World Champion

  • @Shogo5000 2007 raikkonen was the best, 2010 red bull the best. Why alonso ??!!

  • @Shogo5000 Erm...I don't think he is.

  • Holly shit! He overtook four drivers in one lap! Apart from he was driving on the wet tires and they were just floating on the slicks

  • From 8 to 3, good job Alonso! XD

  • @HMJogMDG yes, great driving, but a terrible strategy. Heidfeld went vom 8 to 2, since he stopped one lap earlier.

  • @TheColinChapman Thank you. =-)

  • good job ¡¡

  • why where the other cars so slowly??

    Bad tyres ?

  • @Naganiet200 It was the last lap and the track was getting pretty wet. Most of them stayed on dry tires for the last lap but Alonso gambled on intermediates and it worked out. The others were sitting ducks because of dry tires.

  • @Kenney1993 Ohh Yes ! Thanks :-)

  • @Naganiet200 they were on slicks alonso on inters

  • Luego dicen que es malo, tramposo y bla bla bla... pringaos.

  • increible que listo fue fernando

  • i really dont like alonso, because i consider him quite the crybaby, but he is a skilled driver. granted, the real reason why he was able to do this is because of the tyres, but i dont know of many other drivers that would attack two other drivers at the bus stop chicane, especially in the wet.

  • i dont like alonso, mainly because of his arrogant fans, but he shows the four drivers up here

  • like a game

  • Not a knock on Fernando's talent at all, but this vid really demonstrates just how important it is to be on the right tyres at the right time.

  • why all the pride... the other cars were obviously not using the proper tires at the time.... he didn't pass those people because he's better... (although he is better than most of the ones he passed)

probably not vettel though, we already know hamilton is quicker

  • @zabraoota, are you naive ??

  • alonso the best

  • he was on intermediates, and everyone else is on drys, how is this creditable

  • @hinegums nonetheless its still a good job

  • @tderias yeah true, id give him that

  • is the best driver of the world

  • Great Lap!

  • looks like kovalainen is watching the birds

  • devo'd if you were vettel

  • 1:27 Wow..

  • where was the green flag after raikkonen's car??

  • Comment removed

  • Theformulaone2, Alonso is selfish, arrogant... Like all the other world champions

  • @7macfly2 except Button. Button seems to be nice.

  • @7macfly2 what's wrong with u man, if ur not selfish u r not a race driver n will never b a world champ.

  • he enter in 3rd position and finish 4rd

  • Faaaantastic!

  • im not an alonso fan, but damn that was sick

  • It was almost like a qualifying lap at the finish, it felt as if Alonso was on a hot lap and was caught in loads of traffic who were all on out laps, amazing action especially nipping round supersebo at the end

  • poor vettel

  • I don't care what nobody says, Alonso is a bad MFer!!

  • @rodentcafeteria What is a bad 'MFer'? I only know that expression from playing Diablo 2 on battlenet.

  • @nessie43 I don't know what it means on Battlenet, but it's a slang term meaning he's a fantastic driver; an incredible driver; a bad MUTHA FUCKA!!!

  • @nessie43 MFer -> Motherfucker

  • @rodentcafeteria Pss...

  • Anyone notice the epic schooling Alonso gave Hamilton at Spa 2007 is nowhere to be found on youtube. It's a conspiracy dammit !

  • yeah look how great he is overtaking all those people on dry weather tyre while he has wets on!

  • What are great driver Alonso is!

  • Imagine if he'd changed with 2 laps to go, he'd have probably won the race!

  • i think it'd be more interesting if they used the pits before eau rouge with the other start-finish line next to them.

  • All I know is that was exciting as hell!! Lol :-)

  • Alonso's strategy was terrible! He should have stopped to change tyres at the previous lap or not at all. He was in front of Heinfeld and he finished behind him!!! I think if he had stopped at the previous lap he could have won the race!!!

  • I agree. It was all Pat's fault- as usual.

  • @felipemassa998 thats F1

  • @felipemassa998 'could have' or 'should have' both mean absolutely fuck all, it's what actually happens that counts.

Spa is so big, and the track conditions vary so much from 1 side of the circuit to the other, meaning it's almost impossible for drivers to judge accurate tyre strategy in such conditions.

  • You're right. Fernando had been ahead of the Bourdais/Kubica/Vettel/Heidfeld-train, Nick stopped after 42 laps for full wets, 1 lap later Fernando stopped for intermeds and could reel in 3 out of 4. Thus, his pit stop had brought him an opportunity to prove his driving skills, but no net advantage. Heidfeld ended up 2nd, only 9 seconds behind Massa. With Nick's pitstop strategy, Fernando would have had a chance to catch Felipe in his last lap. but there is no 'if' or 'would' in racing...

  • Not sure why Raikkonen was pointed out as he was out on the previous lap, Alonso had already passed him for position before he made his pitstop. But it goes to show how much more grip the wet tyres gave, shame he didn't have another lap or he would have passed Massa and Hamilton :)

  • Incredible, amazing, out of this world.

Even he was on wet tyres and the others were on slicks.

  • GOD

  • Absolutely Fantastic

    Great lap

he overtakes 2 cars in 100 meters waouw

  • Yeah he is on full wet tyres, everyone else (except Heidfeld) was on worn out dry tyres, so it looks better than it actually was.

  • yes i know it. but he's a great driver he's the youngest double world champion.

  • Yup, it'll be great to see him back in a good car next year. I'm expecting some epic battles with Hamilton.

  • @MrKenan1989 with help from far superior tyres

  • why do they go into the end of the pitlane at spa instead of going round the lap again?

  • Because the lap time around Spa is just under 2 minutes and i think it would take too long for the cars to do a slow in lap so they just go in at the end of the pitlane :) I think thats why anyway lol

  • because an in-lap would take such a long time.

  • very good overtakeshow alonso.

  • He was on the proper tires, it's not surprising that he was overtaking drivers on dry tires with so ease.

It was an interesting race and Alonso did good though.

  • This is what I want the new f1 game to be like :D . Variable weather good engine sounds and simulation gameplay :D

  • You'll have to wait until 2010 like me then

:( I've been on the Wii game at my mate's house, and it's godawful. There's no damage, the cars sound crap, the graphics arelike PS1 and there s no feeling in the steering. Better off playing

    F1 06 on PS2!

  • Jesus... -_- .... All the hype around that game and it is garbage. I hope 2010 is nothing like it. Thanks too I was gonna purchase a wii and this game lol. I guess I have to play formula 1 championship edition a little longer.

But hey only 60 more days until gran turismo 5 full version reserve your copy a.s.a.p. theres some formula 1 on it now ;^D

  • Sweet, GT5 with F1!

Thanks for the heads up :D

  • Well not exactly. In gt5 prologue the ferrari f2007 chassis is in there and if you race it is againsts only f2007 because it is only f1 car in the game prologue. but I saw a car list that had mclaren f2007 in it too, for full game. I hope it is not a lie.

  • Commence the persecution! Go Nando!

  • That was a cool race

  • es el puto amo

  • this was a race... last year massa or kimi crashed before chikane... i remember that. great job btw foe heidfeld too who made same move and went to pits for wet tyres...

  • oh fuck. i thought this was qualifying

  • pwned

  • grandisima vuelta

  • haha, like a computergamewith all the ai cars on easy level!

  • I'm impressed at how he knew he had to lift at Eau Rouge.

  • lol ''he knew he had to'' ofc you have to lift if its damn wet there everyone knows it damn it sure is easy to impress you :P i think that even more impressing is that he overtook 4 guys in 1 lap great strategy

  • JEEZ!! hes an F1 DRIVER!!. do you know what that is? an F1 driver?

  • nope I don't I know what an F1 Pilot is... Oh wait yes the drivers truck the cars around Europe correct?

  • correct. but, theres much more to it than that to make it interesting until something happens. still, the old days were better for good racing

  • wow .....what a concentration .... he realised under that conditions that there was yellow flags and didnt overtook ..... thats one of the best drivers in f1 ..... maybe he win tomorrow hungary gp

  • the tv was doing a good job in that video.

but noe the f1 changed to another channel and they don´t do any like these.

  • Nice one, Raikkonen told the finnish TV that he was going to get wet tyres for the last lap too but he crashed before that in the battle with Hamilton.

  • i hate this guy but he is a fucking good driver probaly one of the best with kimi raikkonen

  • You hate him? Why, did he try to steal away your girlfriend?

I always wonder about people's strong 'feelings' for someone they don't even know and never even talked to.

  • Lmfao, well said m8.

  • @nessie43 Alonso is usually being very bold driver, and involved in pretty big scandals (singapore 2008, and mclaren spying case 2007). No wonder if somebody just dont like the guy.

  • @nessie43 I dislike him because of his attitude, I admit he's a great driver. But his attitude stinks. Win at all costs even if his team mate has to move over or crashes into a wall for him to get that victory. Also when he was Hamilton's team mate he couldn't accept equality, what he did in qualifying to delay Hamilton was shameful not only in the act, but the lies he spoke after.

Which is why I dislike Schumi too, great driver poor character.

  • @LeJimster How can you blame Alonso for the Piquet-crash? It was Briatore who ordered it and not Fernando. Alonso knew nothing about it. How could he have known anyway?

  • @ttiwehhewitt I didn't say I blame him for Piquet's crash. I just said his attitude stinks, he has no remorse for what the Renault team did for him, he likes getting preferential treatment and expects it. Listen to him this year many times whining on the radio about drivers not getting out of his way, as if he's got some divine right to be infront. Like I say he's a great driver, but I can't stand him personally.. Poetic justice this year I thought.

  • @LeJimster I think it's a bit hard to say "he has no remorse" for what happened. I dont think he would've liked to win the race like that. About the treatment: he's no different than any other big champion in the past - like senna, schumacher - who expect to be the No1 driver cause they simply deserve it and justify it every time with the results and titels they win. If you're two-time champ and have countless victories i think you have the right to claim the No1 spot, dont you think?

  • @ttiwehhewitt If you're that good, you don't need team orders. I guess you're one of those fans who thinks team orders are fine. I am not and if a supposedly better driver can't get past his team mate, then tough luck is what I say. I prefer to see teams treat their drivers as equal as possible.

  • @LeJimster Dear, naive friend. Tell me one top team that fights for the championship, which treats both their drivers equally? Certain decisions have to be made to be successful. I dont like direct team order either, but sometimes it happens. And it's not Alonso or any other driver who makes them, but the teamchefs. If you're 'not a fan' of that 'tough luck' it is indeed.

  • @tunisien1990 Bloody well said. How the heck can you hate him? He has done nothing wrong to you has he? Apart from perhaps beat your favorite driver.

  • good vid, i've never seen this before

  • best driver from the current grid , hopefully he ll get a better car next season

  • Alonso God of the drivers.

  • no, it's takuma sato!

  • xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Search on youtube "hamilton es un falso"

  • Lmao, how typical of the spanish to print such a biased article. So Hamilton is a fake, did he fake his numerous karting titles(all won before Mclaren signed him up to driver development prog), or his F3 title, or his F3000 title, or his GP2 title or his F1 title? Nope!

There are better drivers in GP2 than Rubens (Bruno Senna & Lucas diGrassi) and i agree that Jenson is in a different league to him.

I was at Spa last year, and the amount of support he had from the foreign crowd was incredible

  • Nooooooo.... I am not a newcomer to f1, like many spanish compatriots. Lewis is extremely good, in fact, i enjoy watching him driving to the limit. My point is that i ve been living in uk the last 3 years and i hate how ITV brainwashed all public about how nice and sportsman Lewis is.

They did not tell the truth about hungary 07 and what happen to hamilton´s car and the "gear box problems"

    All credit to Brundell,though

  • Ur living in the UK? I feel sorry for u lol, i packed my bags and left for the middle east, lol. The gear box problems, i think you are referring to Brasil 07, well FIA officials had to look at Hamiltons gearbox after qualy due to a problem with it, the same problem that Alonso had earlier in the year (Bahrain i think, but i cant remember). It was loss of hydralic pressure that caused the problem in the race, but had Mclaren not put Hamilton on a 3 stopper & had they not forgot to re-fuel him lol

  • I am living in Spain now. Alonso had the gear box problems at magny cours, i think.

Hamilton pushed the wrong button, same as Kovalainen did last year in Australia. The gear box problems was a cover up thing. It would be the first time in history where a gear box is broken and 20 seconds later is miracously perfect. But i do not want to change your beliefs of course.

    BTW GO BARCELONA!!!!!!!!!

  • Nah if you watch the video on you-tube, even before Hamiton pushed any buttons you can hear the revs drop on the engine. The ECU default settings can only be reverted to when the car is in neutral.

Yeah am lookin forward to Barcelona, and i'll be glad when Mclaren / Renault & Ferrari get their cars sorted properly.

  • Which F3000 title?

  • I meant F3 euro title,lol.

  • That must've been the "F3 title" you already mentioned :)

  • Nope, F3 he won in 2003, F3 euroseries (when he partnered Nico Rosberg), he won in 2005. Both completely different series.

  • There is no "F3" series - there are some national series, like Japanese F3 and British F3, and there is the European championship, F3 Euroseries. Lewis Hamilton did not race in any F3 series in 2003 - but he won Formula Renault 2.0 UK. But anyways, it doesn't really matter, you don't have to convince anyone that he won a lot in junior series - but personally, I think he had much, much better support than most drivers, being with McLaren from the start of his formula racing career.

  • Every driver on the grid had £millions invested in them, their early careers funded by teams, sponsors or rich parents.

Alonso, Kovalainen & Grosjean were on Renaults young driver development program, Vettel was on Redbulls, Schumi & Heidfeld were on Mercedes, Hamilton & current DTM driver Jamie Green were on Mclarens.

There's Webber, who's career was funded by £5million Yellow Pages sponsor, and Button, Piquet & Rosberg all had wealthy families funding their careers to the sum of £millions

  • Comparing the Renault young driver program to the support Hamilton got/gets from McLaren is ridiculous. And of course, every racing driver has a HUGE budget, but Hamilton's backing was extreme - he always got into the "best" teams in the lower formulae, for example. I don't think you can compare those "young driver development" programs that all teams have with what Hamilton got.

  • How bitter are you? Most drivers on the grid come from wealthy families, yet Hamilton was from a very poor background, his dad worked 3 jobs to support his career. Hamilton won 2 karting titles, 2 x MB future champs series, the Sky masters series and the Autosport driver of the year award BEFORE getting help off Mclaren, and they didn't just sign him, they signed Jamie Green at the same time (Merc DTM driver).

If Hamilton got to the best teams it was because of his ability so get over it.

  • I am not bitter at all - I think he deserved all he got, I am just saying that in FR, F3 and GP2 he was with teams proven capable of winning. I am not saying that his skill is lower than any other Grand Prix driver, probably higher than most. I don't know how we got into this from me saying that you were wrong about F3000, and then again with the "F3" comment - I don't think Hamilton is a bad driver in any way.

  • Probably because you used words like "ridiculous" & "extreme" lol.

If a driver wins titles at kadet , junior yamaha and JICA, it's only logical that he's going to go to teams like Manor & Art in single seaters.

As for the F3 series I was referring to, it has ran since the 1950's and still runs today, Senna & Hakkinen have both won it, it's a single seater 2.0 series just like Formula Renault (which you rightly pointed out Hamilton won) and GP2 is just the discontinued F3000 series anyway :-)

  • not even that, he had mclaren backing since his karting days

  • His team got a right choice

  • i remember this race really went up during the last 3 laps

  • Alonso as good as the others, but so much clever in the race. I think Renault helped him developping what any driver need to win constitancy and championship. As he is very talented too as the footage shows it well, he is able to win any race with any car in special conditions like wet.

  • Best driver on the grid. Fantastic driving.

  • he is a very good driver but i still dont like him, no denying the man has skill lets all hope the top drivers in F1 this year all have winning cars to make it interesting

  • Well done to the people who dislikes Alonso but dont deny that he is talented. I feel the same about hamilton. Not looking good this year for him... we will see

  • time will tell, i think hamilton is what the sport needed at that time a frindly "nice" polite driver for kids to look upto and a cracking driver to boot

  • I think that is what the media wanted us to think. I f you ask me, Button is as good as hamilton and much more polite. I was living in england the last 3 years and i can tell you that outside uk Lewis is not seen for everyone as "mr nice". ITV did a good work not showing his "dark side". And trust me, people is tired of watching Lewis father on screen every two minutes of grandprix... Alonso won two championships with his head, more than with his car.

By the way,god bless Martin Brundell

  • ive been a button fan for years true he is more polite and i have to agree about hamiltons dad im sick of seeing his face evrey 5 minutes

  • Wtf is the FIA thinking? With the new rules if alonso for example starts a race from the back of the grid his race will be pointless cause he wont have any chance of winning that race and the points he could score are not important anymore... Mosley keep partying and go home for good!!

  • its bernie ecclestone not mosley or the FIA its that pompas twit getting his own way he needs throwing out

  • Yes, but bernie wanted the gold silver and bronze medals. Can you imagine the podiums now? If i was second or third place i would not bother to show up in the podium, Whats the point? This season looked grat and now they spoiled it. Hijos de la gran puta me cago en sus muertos

  • best F1 racing this year is going to be in computer games i cant see most of the drivers bothering

  • Perhaps you can send me a link to the interviews or media stories when Hamilton was rude or bad mannered? Thats a crock of shit, and Hamilton is still the biggest crowd puller in F1. In Brazil they show Massas dad every 5mins, and now they are constantly showing Jensons dad. Whether a driver wins a title with his head or because he had incredible skills, both styles are effective in the hands of such skilled drivers. Jenson is winning because he has a car advantage(high downforce / lowweight).

  • Jenson is winning cause is ten times better than rubens. There is no big crowd puller in f1 at the moment., he is the biggest media puller, i give you that. No one goes to a circuit to watch lewis, except uk.

I will give you links in a bit.

It is funny cause the only driver double champion is Alonso and his father or wife are NEVER on tv. Thats common sense. Massas father and lewis father made a laugh of themselves last year

  • Search on youtube "alonso v hamilton hungary 07"

Oh, and the vids: Sorry, the team told me to lie :(((((((( Come on,Lewis....
