  • This was my favourite game...lol I remember we had to wait ages for it to load and games at that time were good too....nowadays it's all blood and violence.

  • good old days :-)

  • I'm never wearing headphones again!

  • this was back when video games were half decent!! ;)

  • r-tape loading error

    we all loved em really

  • Block sector messages were the worst.

Never thought about the fridge etc.

I had cassette players that worked better for some games than others, oh happy days !

  • every old computer with tape load used a different system, and sounds different as a result. ICE Interact tapes are cool to listen too, as they seem to have 'sectors' a sync pulse every second. This works like a phone-line modem does, but at slow speed.

  • I became very familiar with this sound when doing tape-to-tape copying of games. If there was any slight interruption in the power supply (like for a nanosecond when the fridge switched itself on or off) while the recording was going on, the finished cassette wouldn't load, and I'd have to start all over again!

Many's the time I experienced this nice little message:

    Data?

    Rewind tape

    Oh, how times have changed!

  • my ears!!!!!

  • Are you using Beebem?

  • Yes, I don't have an RGB encoder and the composite output isn't very good. I did most of these sat out in the College gardens etc. so a laptop with BeebEm is a real lifesaver when you want a bit of distraction ;)

  • Oh man. You can't explain this stuff to kids these days! Great video!

  • hear hear, great vid!! :)
