Should we ban anything that could be dangerous in the hands of a violent or even just reckless person?
How about automobiles. Auto accidents kill far more teens than guns, and because of that, using gun control logic, the way I see it we need to ban EVERYONE even those who have never committed a traffic violation from owning a car.

That's 8 minutes for murder, rape, and/or kidnapping, etc. Do remember cops go to where you call them to, so if kidnapping happens, oh my, it isn't a situation of sipping up a loser in a black bag, it's a case of kidnapping that they now have to investigate.
The problem in your senario is why the woman is stupid enough to walk alone in a dark alley, and the solution would be for her to choose a safer path, even though the alley would've been a fast shourtcut home. We can't make all rapists disappear, but we can act smart and for example not walk through dark alleys alone. We can't make people stop killing each other with a snap of our fingers, but we can take away they're most efficient killing-tool.
The problem with that is criminals DO NOT obey gun laws. The Columbine shooters broke 18 gun laws. The last thing we need is more laws for criminals to break. When the people are armed and trained in self defense, criminals will be less likely to break the law because the people can shoot back.
If you wanted to rob a store, you'd have to look for police, but with an armed society, you'd have to worry about armed patrons and employees. You're responsible for your safety, not the police.

The impoverished are rated at hospitals and most only have to pay for meds at cost to the hospital. We Don't Need It !

I read or saw in South Africa they have banned guns. So people don't get shot as often.which is good. The problem is those people are ingenious when it comes to protecting themselves. The law abiding can't use guns, fine they'll use hatchets, machettee's, hell one guy to protect himself from carthieves booby-trapped his car. None of that stuff is illegal. Self-defence isn't about having a gun to shoot people with. You can protect yourself and others without a gun. How about just yelling to the rapist: "HEY! I've called the police!". That would scare the rapist away just as well as a gun. The problem in your senario is why the woman is stupid enough to walk alone in a dark alley, and the solution would be for her to choose a safer path, even though the alley would've been a fast shourtcut home. We can't make all rapists disappear, but we can act smart and for example not walk through dark alleys alone. We can't make people stop killing each other with a snap of our fingers, but we can take away they're most efficient killing-tool.

The problem with that is criminals DO NOT obey gun laws. The Columbine shooters broke 18 gun laws. The last thing we need is more laws for criminals to break. When the people are armed and trained in self defense, criminals will be less likely to break the law because the people can shoot back.
If you wanted to rob a store, you'd have to look for police, but with an armed society, you'd have to worry about armed patrons and employees. You're responsible for your safety, not the police.

That's always been the problem with americans... Every man for himself, instead of caring for everyone. That's btw why you don't have free health care (which is just dumb). It's not just the criminals' attitude that's wrong in america, it's everyone's attitude.

Owning a gun to protect your family and property from murderers, rapists, and theives is selfish??? The police get their right to carry guns from the people they protect.
No one in America is denied healthcare. Hospitals are not allowed to turn anyone away needing medical treatment. It's the insurance that people don't have. Passing laws that force people to buy a product and imprisoning them for not is dumber than you are. Hospitals rate the uninsured and give discounts based on income.

Did I ever mention that hospitals deny patients treatment? I don't think I did. What I said was: healthcare is NOT free in the U.S. which in my opinion is a result of some seriously retarded politicians. But wait, most of the people in the U.S. don't seem to want government controlled heathcare either, so it's not all the politicians' fault. I was talking about the general attitude of americans.

The American people don't want a healthcare system that: imprisons those who don't have insurance, Taxes those who have it to provide for those who don't, and is rationed among the people and denied to those who engage in "risky behavior" (smoke, drink alcohol, and eat unhealthy food).
The people who don't have insurance are mostly 18- 35, single, and in good health.
The impoverished are rated at hospitals and most only have to pay for meds at cost to the hospital. We Don't Need It !
