Wow Bubsy looks like an angry hornet attacking that UFO boss! Why do you avoid the checkpoints sometimes?

If you go through an area with a lot of enemies and secrets to explore but avoid the checkpoints and later die, you'll have a lot more time and you won't have to complete the level. There is a case of having 2 minutes left, dying, then suddenly having 6 minutes left, returning with 5, if I recall. It, in a way, is like having extra time available. Checkpoints save the current time (or sets it to 1 minute if less time remains). I can have 1000 yarn balls with 7 minutes left from this!
