• I wish he didn't keep saying PSTD...

  • Incidentally, a grindcore band called 'Tortured Through Memory' had a member who smoked cannabis, go figure...

  • This is a meaningless arguement. How much of the land can support how many people and their waste generation would provide more meaningful insight into the planet's carrying capacity.

  • This man is so articulate and *precise* in his words...but then he says we're overpopulated? Divide the world population by the land area of Texas, and I think you'll agree we're not quite there.

  • @herzogsbuick Land area of Texas by the world population***

  • Albert Schweitzer said "Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory. Being "high" is simply being very happy. Unhappiness is certainly a condition caused by having low cannabinoid levels in your body. Getting "high" provides your body with essential cannabinoids which will shut off the feeling of unhappiness. If you don't feel unhappy then you are well. By allowing yourself to feel the cannabis high you are achieving homeostasis and essentially experiencing your true self.

  • Dude I used to have that t-shirt that he's wearing it's Einstein's face made out of stars and galaxies in glow in the darK!

  • PSTD LOL post sexual transmitted disorder.. that's what he says lol

  • Marijuana makes me think more than forget. You need a clear mind to overcome trauma. It may be helpful for pain but doesn't help with mental disorders such as anxiety and panic disorder. It makes pstd more intense than it actually is. I can speak from experience.

  • @deftones7 We are all different. Cannabis Science did a survey of vets with PTSD. Cannabis works better that other things for most of them. Often quantity and strain can make the difference between success and failure. If you are in a medical marijuana state you could experiment. Too much is not good and strains with CBD appear to be better for cutting anxiety

  • @doctorbobcannabuzz yes! and if the plant is harvested later (with brown trichomes) can cause unwanted symptoms to us, increase anxiety, give us paranoia and even panic attacks. Everything is about the strain and the good treatment of marijuana; a good growing, a good harvest and the appropriate strain(and of couse the set & setting). I know it because I had very bad experiences of the type described above, and I began to investigate and after years off smoking i tried again...

  • @doctorbobcannabuzz I agree, I have PTSD, plenty of mental issues, and these came from the abuse I suffered, which was years before I started smoking cannabis. The cannabis has both helped and hindered, but why should it be blamed when it was a choice for those who abused me to do so? They shouldn't have, but it goes on. Target the REAL enemy, not the convenient one. The Sativa/Indica (THC/CBD) ratio is the key, I agree. about min. 20% Indica helps cut paranoia.

  • @deftones7

I am clinically diagnosed with PTSD, Fibromyalgia.....pot is the only thing...not 1 of my meds can accomplish. My anxiety drops, I am able to function with a smile, I do more on it than off it, I don't feel all depressed and locked in memories....I work better on it !~...thats "MY" experience.

  • I think what the dude said about difficulty at work is valid, but only if you're someone who's fully functional and doesn't need cannabis for any specific medical ailment. Like the few times I've gotten high before work I found it intimidating, maybe b/c we live in such a scary unhigh world though I don't know. But I never experienced any problems getting high after work, I think it's only when you're actually high that memory is somewhat affected not all the time.

  • So basically I think that everyone should use cannabis, including the 'detail oriented' people that the guy mentioned. But that not everyone should use it before or while working if they don't have to.

  • dr. i have been using cannabis for 15 years and it does help reduce tension but i have noticed that when i am angry it actually increases that emotion which is kind of negative. other than that its great.

  • Awesome! he is 60!!!! ?

  • endocannabiniod helps woman recover from P.T.S.D and cannabis can help your memories if it's used for that. Look cannabis is medicine and it's nature and God made it. Ant human that denies these fact well you'll deal with God, he make it, man only made marinol and for any one of you who doesn't know what marinol. It's the man made weed pill.

  • I have had depression and PTSD since childhood. As debilitating as these conditions are I can't imagine surrendering part of my GOOD memory as part of a cure. Isn't this why we have substance addictions -- to numb our feelings and forget the past. It's like advocating alcoholism. A depressant is not going to cure depression; it's just make it more tolerable in the short run.

  • @DCFunBud You really do not know what you are talking about. Everyone makes the equivalent of marijuana. The activity is even in mother's milk. The endocannabinoids that we all make functions to help relief stress and help people to forget unpleasant memories. Some people need extra activity to restore their biochemical balance. Nothing works for everyone, but cannabis helps many as it has done for literally thousands of years. drbob

  • @DCFunBud It seems you are making the assumption that your "good" memories would be compromised by cannabis. I also believe your argument about avoiding the unpleasant can be applied to pharmaceuticals. Those chemicals treat the symptoms, not the actual problem; however, they do help people. Who is anyone to say to another person that they are not allowed to find reprieve from pain in whatever nondestructive way works for them? Do you just want others to abide by your goodness?

  • For the record I am for legalizing pot. You need to disclose that certain people can experience paranoia on pot, which can lead to anxiety disorders. For that reason it needs to be regulated. Perhaps make it by prescription only (to keep it away from children whom do not know this potential danger). I'm sure pharmacies/MDs would love the extra business. With this method you'd tell your doc you wanted it, even for recreational use, and the doc could decide if rec use is appropriate 4 each client.

  • im 21, had ptsd roughly 5 years, and i smoke enough green a day to kill an elephant i feel it liberates me from my darkness but it doesent help i feel edgy around strangers when smoking bud its not paranoia i believe the cannabis for me exaggerates my anxiety but every case is diffrent

  • I feel like shit very often, been using some anti-dep. medicin but it doesnt work that well,, is there a chance that using cannabis would help me in some way?

  • U R the man! see how open minded/ knowlegable this guy is?

  • Great Video

  • This guy is full of it.

  • & another thing,, u cant control free mind! thats why cannabis is illegal.. it will never be legal unless we fight for human rights!. FCUK the government & stay free^^

  • Bless you dr. mellamede..the truth needs to be told..I am 35 and have used cannabis since I was about 15..I am a full time Martial artist and a 3 time world champion in Karate. I own 2 schools and consider myself healthy and happy. Cannabis has been a blessing in my life. I have had many traumatic times in my life and have always been able to keep a positive attitude with positive progress. Thanks for your hard work. keep it up!!

  • @Torontokoshiki I have met many martial artists from a variety of disciplines who agree with you.

    drbob

  • No. I knew a guy with PTSD who smoked tons of bud for years and it just held him back from recovering. About three years after he stopped smoking the bud he started to charge ahead. If cannabis or any other drug like alcohol was of any use in treating PTSD then a lot of guys who got heavily into those drugs would have improved instead of gotten worse. Cannabis is not for people with PTSD.

  • @guydecervens It may have been his cannabis use that allowed for his positive change.

    drbob

  • Right b/c he filled his system with cannabinoids right? So even after he stopped the effect was there. Funny too how this guy says "cannabis or any other drug like alcohol' as if the two are in the same category at all

  • with cannabis, i was able to go from one medication for depression, one for sleep, one for supressing dreams, and one for the pain in my left knee which was wounded in ramadi, iraq. even on those drugs, i spent 8 days in a psych ward for ptsd related suicidal tendancies. since a friend got me smoking pot, i am on NO prescription drugs, i go to college, i work as much as my knee problem allows. i have even lost 45 lbs because i no longer drink. i still deal with my past, its just easier.

  • @ imstillalive0331

i congradulate you with your progression and your ability to have an open mind to try cannabis. keep on living

  • What do Endocannabinoids Do?

"Relax, eat, sleep, forget & protect"

Appetite/feeding, Blood pressure, Cerebral blood flow, Digestive system, Emesis & nausea, Immune system, Inflammation, Memory, Mood, Movement, Neuroprotection, Pain, Reproduction & Stress

    Dr. Raphael Mechoulam

  • extremely good point about voting when you buy food! Also you look great for your age dr!

  • this is a good one!

  • "We call this PSTD" Oops! Actually, when the good doctor asks if the interviewer would like to have all his most traumatic memories "vomitted"(?) back to him, I think there was a degree of subterfuge there. I am not a Ph.D., however, memory is not some digital entity, it is the result of millions of years of evolution. Memory is therefor more analog, with its scratching and skipping. I think that this is why so-called PTSD triggered memories can be so traumatic, as memory has a personal stamp.

  • He said dominated not vomittted, the rest of your comment is utterly redundant.

  • There is considerable debate whether PTSD should even be the concern of psychiatrists, who should just stick to poisoning millions of human beings, locking up the same number each year, yahta, yahta. PTSD is, arguably, a bona fide pathophysiological event, not a psychiatric disorder, as psychs seem suggest. However, I think that there is a lot more at stake than a mere reclassification. Is this redundant?

  • So much for the grammar on that one.

  • Actually, I believe he said dominant.

  • @whiff1962 do you know anyone with ptsd?

  • Is this a rhetorical question? I do recognize PTSD as a "disorder" that is "treated" by psychiatrists, not as a neurological disorder, clearly definable as such, and rightly treated by a neurologist. I think that the basis of confusion, and any clarification, is to be had by coming to terms with the inconsistencies and omissions of the psychiatric community. By the by, what is indeed being "treated" in PTSD? Any in-fighting over the putative disease of PTSD, lies in the profession's disavowals.

  • Comment removed

  • On the opposite side of the same coin, to answer in the negative, that I know no one with PTSD, is no more illuminating. I have "known" people with all manner of psych label, but never, did I know that they actually had a true brain disorder, rather than a stigmatizing label. Psychs treat and label because there is a social and political give and take to the respective profession. One knows a disease, without labeling, however, with psych labels, one must observe behavior and utterances as sick

  • excellent points.

i'm reluctant on the idea of complete legalization. but decriminalization would be nice imo. i'd just hate to see what corporations would do with marijuana like whats been done with tobacco. not to mention the taxation and rise in cost.

i just hate when people automatically associate it with terrorism and large crime syndicates. when buying locally grown marijuana i put more money into the local economy than walmart.

  • This guy seems to be drifting in and out of talking sense and just ranting, although I suppose it's difficult not to rant when you're passionate about something.

Anyway, free the weed and stop locking people up for having some harmless fun.

  • all rants are information

  • Rewatched it and it doesn't really seem as much like a rant. Maybe I was in a grumpy mood when I was watching before. And yes, good info in there.

  • Medical MJ is NOT STREET DRUGS!

Street Dope POT" is backed by Organized Crime and Criminal Members of Government!!

Medical MJ is Legal in Canada!!

Medical MJ is a fully covered Benefit of Veterans Affairs Canada for Members of the Canadian Forces ...and RCMP!!

    NOT NDP STREET POT!!

    Medical MJ!!

    ASK LOUDLY!!

  • what about anxiety and anger from smoking marijuana

  • afaik it might be that you're smoking the wrong kind of strain... been doing research about it and the two main strains have almost opposing effects... the Sativa strains are more uplifting and stimulating (which might be what you're taking) whereas Indica strains are more tranquilizing and "mellowing" which might be what you could be smoking.

still, if you're having emotional issues, best to speak with a doctor before self-diagnosing and self-medicating.

  • it just like what i said. all my pot smoking m8s r never getting anxiety or anger, especialy if we smoke together. because were in the same level.. we all need to get high to get along or exepted it that its better than alcohol:]

  • best to get rid of sober anxieties and anger that can be magnified under any substance. its a personal issue first

  • I can't believe your 60! you look great!

  • I'm not, I'm 61

  • lol. nvm i understand

  • lol. in english?

  • people that are deppresed from smoking cannabis is only because ur surrounded with people that r criticizing u pointing fingers at u so u have no choice but to believe them and so u make ur self depressed by believing them. mj opens ur mind yes, but when u think of what they say, IT MAKES U THINK BAD THOUGHTS! makes you feel very shit.. educate ur self & b humble n ull b fine ^_^ i smoke all day everyday & my life was shit b4 i used mj. IM LOVIN IT ^_^

  • i am like you :@ exactly

cannabis is the tree of life

  • Yeah I know you kind of have to seperate from society in a sense to be a successful pot consumer and realize what immature fools most people are, rather than taking what they say seriously or telling them all of your buisness. These days I don't even care though b/c there's all this documentation that proves what we say about it

  • i have ptsd from numerous deployments to iraq and kosovo. when i was discharged the VA gave me a number of synthetic drugs to combat my ptsd, if i missed a taking it for a day or 2 i would have severe withdrawls from it much like a hard drugs addict. i decided to try smoking weed and i have to say it works so much better. i can enjoy my life much more with cannibus. legalize it!!

  • Hi, Have you noticed any difference between strains?

  • This man uses the same words I do!

Come to my blog and see what the cannabis plant has wrought through me.

Join The Marijuana Guild's first open public sale August 9th Vancouver Art Gallery Square at noon 2009.

  • To many BLP's in New Zealand.

  • There are too many BLPs in the world. The cannabinoid endowed will continue the march of evolution

  • If you do anything in excess you'll have short term memory problems Doc.

  • Here's a story about memory: i was able to access some memories that placed Dick and Arnold in place and time before the '70 fall truck bombing at UW. It stuck in my mind because that was the year i graduated. I did not know them, never saw them there, but it makes a lot of sense. The Econ bldg was destroyed. 39 years later, that one make complete sense. Of course someone else was blamed and the trial records sealed. It is lying blaming GOP politics. Weird huh?

  • he does look at least 10 years younger than he is.

  • Come on, your argument's ignorance is understated by the fact that you call post traumatic stress disorder

    PSTD???

  • Did you mean underscored? Some misplace letters others use the wrong words. No big deal.

    drbob

  • Truth will set us free

  • dont drink:. ;)

the goverment", will eventually have to give it up, for its medicinal purposes. Its a shame seeing what much can damage body, and still being used instead of natural medical medicine!

  • I would have taken you for late fourties, maybe...

  • I have that. AAACCCKKKK!!!! My shrink put me on citalopram and wellbutrin but he says i HAVE TO STOP SMOKING WEED or the meds won't work. He says you can drink on it (I don't want to start drinking again I hate the effects of liqour). You don't look sixty.

  • Does cannabis help you? Others that I have known with your condition have found relief to be very strain dependent. Sativas seem to work well for depression and Indicas for the manic state.

  • It was pretty much my only friend. I don't know which strain just street stuff I could get my hands on. IF only I didn't have to stop. I could do things high but I can't do anything when I'm drinking

  • I live in oregon with ptsd from crazy life problems. How can i get medical marijuana i know where i can get it illegally but i dont want to to that. Will it really help me i need to fix this. Ive been to a theripist but i didnt feel helped.

  • Hi Tom, I think the best way to consume cannabis for most people, most of the time, is by eating it. The psychological effects are less spiky and more sustained. For things like nausea, smoking or vaporizing is ideal because it's quick and you can stop when relief occurs.

  • Hi, It's amazing how effective cannabis can be, and how stupid legislators are on this issue. Check out my video on BLPs and FLPs

    drbob

  • i live in washington state

    and have PTSD

but they reject people with PTSD from becoming patients, its sucks.......

when ever i get stressed out, i get realy depressed, and angry all the time...

but when i take a couple bong hits

i feel better about myself and the world

and relized that i got angry over such

    a small and dumb issue

  • Marijuana substitute combats nerve gas

You may not find me articulate, but hopefully you'll acknowledgment accuracy

Scripps Howard News Service, January 5, 1998

    By Julian Borger

JERUSALEM -- The best available protection against nerve gas attack comes from an Israeli-made synthetic equivalent of marijuana, U.S. military experiments have shown.

  • This man is not articulate and doesn't sound very smart. If you want to convince people you need to come off as being intelligent and he doesn't. "If soldiers get gassed they should toke right up!" What the hell? Some of what he says is true but the way he puts it across makes you want to disagree with him

  • Added and subscribed..

Please do the same for my PTSD VIDEOS..

    thx,

  • after hearing this man speak and seeing how he behaves, i was not at all surprised to find out that he smokes pot regularly. idiot

  • Try learning some science instead of wasting your energy on anger and name calling.

  • He said pstd instead of ptsd.

  • What's the evidence that cannabis affects short term memory negatively though because in all of my years of using it I've never experienced that at all

  • That's because your STM has been negatively affected for a while but you're used to it, so you think its healthy though it reall isn't. I speak from experience, I smoked pot for years too. You only realize how much it was affecting your STM when you quit and your memory improves

  • Cannabis helps to forget bad memories, so does heroin and all the other drugs splattered throughout this nation permitted through our borders by the phucking government black market drug industry.

  • We are not overpopulated. The current population growth rate is expected to reach 9 billion by year 2050. There are 6.7 billion people worldwide. Scientist estimate Earth can hold up around 24 billion people. With the current population, every single person could be allotted 1/4 acre of the land in Australia with a portion of Russia; and the remainder of the world would uninhabited. So, NO, the world is not even remotely close to being over-populated.

  • Comment removed

  • No I think it would be more space than that

  • this sucks!!! =(

  • You know how I know you're gay?

  • You have to exercise, you have to eat right. That's what Lee "Scratch" Perry sang and does on Roast Fish and Collie Weed in 1977!

  • Thank you Dr. Bob, for this encouragement! If you google TBI Dustin, he is my son. I have been seeking help for him since 03. The Cleveland Clinic petered out after less than a year, recently, with their deep brain stimulation and I discovered this week the "run from the cure" video, which has led me to you and this is only the second video, by/about you I have seen. I am still seeking help and something tells me this is another way. Too bad the CC was only allowed to operate 12 this year!

  • Hi, I watched Dustin's video. Speaking as a scientist, if I were in his condition, I would want someone to feed me essential fatty acid (hemp or fish oils), a good dose of resveratrol and niacin and cannabis. These are nutrients that promote neuron growth, new connections and protection. This is the recipe I want to try on my senile mother when we bring her to the US from Germany in a month or two.

  • 60.. kudos

  • How the brain functions after absorbing cannabis, should be the study of more research, yet I feel that cannabis gets the blame for memory loss, that is created by caffeine, is my speculation, after personal observation, on stopping the drug caffeine for a time, yet continuing with my medication.

Interesting subject, and elevating yourself from the mundane with substance, observing yourself at the 3rd person, that must aid recovery. Was this not done with MDMA as well at one time?
