See, they do NOT run true to the hare - the more experienced the sighthounds are, the more they cut corners (anticipating the zig-zag of the hare BEFORE it actually does it) and cheat like crazy! Vincenza is a new beginner, so she keeps more faithfully to the hare's path, but never the less, she will have run a bit shorter than the hare. It's the "cutting the corners" trick that makes it impossible to time them accurately.
