Linux, sadly, isn't better than Windows at a lot of things. Windows actually has some Dev support. Major dev support. Sure, some developers make Linux titles, but there are MANY more titles for Windows. That=more dev support. Plus Windows does games better than anything else.

Number of programs or devs dosen`t mean anything. Linux has alternatives for every program what you can imagine. And a lot of time linux runs better windows games than windows itself only gfw games does not work.

Dev support is everything. Just like Balmer says: Developers, developers, developers. Writing them off as an accessory is like saying that an OS needs nothing to be useful.; "it does everything I need it to right out of the box!" This isn't right. And no, Windows runs most Windows games better than any other platform, it just can't handle poor hardware as well as Linux can. That's why you see better performance on some programs under Wine than with Windows; the Windows machine is underpowered.

Linux has 50 000 devs but microsoft have working couple thouldsand people who developes something microsoft stuff (not all people are developing windows). Windows has third party developers much more than linux has but how many same program you need, you only need one good one.

You clearly didn't understand what I typed. I'll TRY to rephrase it for you. Windows (The OS, not Microsoft) has more commercial developer support than any other OS. Period. Windows is a much more corporate OS. It was made to do that. Linux... I don't even know what Linux is supposed to be good at.

If I want a software title, I go and buy it and install it. I can actually go to a store to buy this sort of thing. Linux users have to have an internet connection to DO ANYTHING LINUX. Linux is a web-based OS, Windows is not. It's silly to compare this sort of stuff anyways. Windows will always beat Linux because it has more support.

I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but since when has the majority of good Windows programs had bad support? If anything, they have better support than any freeware open-source stuff on the web. Adobe, Norton, Microsoft itself all have better support for their products than, say, Sun Microsystems... A big company full of thousands of employees are much better with support than a project headed by 3 teenagers in their mother's basement.

Yes, and very proud of it, but you can't possibly think that makes a bit of difference. Windows is much more user-friendly, while Linux is very hard for the average Joe to configure to get it to run properly. Windows has more support. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but IT HAS MORE SUPPORT. There's no way around it; more developers=more support END OF STORY. Number of programs? I never said anything about that, although Windows beats Linux there, too.

Windows has more developers; do the research. Developers are people who DEVELOP STUFF. More people DEVELOP STUFF for Windows than Linux because there is more money in Microsoft software, and last I checked, it isn't all text editors. There's the Adobe suite, Any video game since 1999, and quite a bit of stuff that actually makes sense (Accounting, business). Don't pretend that you know everything about everything; it makes you a very hard person to debate with.

@mwhite112393 Actually you are not right. In both systems you need internet to install programs, I don´t think that you install everything from CD to your Windows. Plus, after Linux installation, the system is fully ready to use (office, graphic editor etc.), and in Windows you must install everything.. It´s better in W7, but still, you can´t say Windows has better support!

There is VERY LITTLE Linux support out on the market right now. VERY LITTLE. I can't walk into a Best-Buy and purchase SimCity 4 for Linux, but I can for both Windows and Mac. I do appreciate the way you approached me about the matter, but people can't seem to understand the at the majority of software is built FOR WINDOWS.

I think there is much more choices in Linux, but I agree, some Windows programs, which you can´t run in linux are good, really good, but it´s just a tip of an iceberg

I fully respect Linux users, and I agree that there are more choices out for Linux, but the majority of those programs just wouldn't work for Windows users. I suppose its just the market for each OS. Windows is a business OS, Mac OS is more for studio development/home use. Linux is trying to do both of these. It's definitely commendable.
