i used to hike elfin forest with my buds way back, love this place. i suggest you hike Lake Poway to Mt Woodson, one of the best hikes in SD county, its are pretty solid workout with beautiful and scenic spots through out the hike, and once you make it to the top, theres a fantastic birds eye view of SD. highly recommended
