Just look at his performance in the recent film 'Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy', He'd be an awesome choice to play the Doctor. Gary reminds me of the first few Doctors in the 60's! :)

Add those 10 to the 13 The Doctor has 23 Regenerations.
As River's part Time Lord, either Amy or Rory are Time Lord. I recon one of them will give their remaining regenerations to him so he'll have 35 (23 + 12)

@Mega1234joe They like doing that- letting you cry and then raising your spirits before the episode ends. However I agree- they failed at making it work in this episode. I'll love Donna forever... but her entrance wasn't appreciated.

If the show died when David regernerated then you really aren't a serious fan. The Doctor regenerates. So what? It's the same show and the same man, just a different face. They lost the morals? You probably haven't seen many of Matt's eps then.

I've sent letters from Australia to Cardiff, when I was 10 I read one of those massive books from cover to cover and read more since, when I owned my first series I watched an episode a dayfor months and months without missing one, I write fanfiction, I drive my family insane, I follow all the Doctor Who media. I just hate the fact that when Matt came they changed everything and I HAVE watched it, same with my friends.
@TheTardisDreamer The point of the show is that it regenerates every few years. Amy, Rory and River are better than Rose, Mickey, Martha and Jack. I have cried more since Matt took over. In David's reign i cried during Doomsday and End of time. In Matt's I cried in; The Beast Below, Cold Blood, The Pandorica Opens, A Christmas Carol, The Impossible Astronaut, The Doctor's Wife, A Good Man Goes To War, The Girl Who Waited, The God Complex and The Wedding Of River Song.
It bugs me first of all, that people say they don't like Matt Smith because of his looks - he's pretty damn fit to me, but that doesn't matter. They are the same person, Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith. Just differient personalities. Course you'll aways have your favorite I suppose, even if not by much, but I honestly can't choose because they are all so differient and similar, and they all have, and will keep making a huge impact.
There's no way to compare between the two!! What I find sad, though, is that nobody ever talks about Christopher Eccleston! He was my FIRST doctor, and that always holds a special place in my heart, and he BROUGHT THE SHOW BACK!!! and he was FANTASTIC, but then DAVID TENNANT CAME :), and he was amazing. I will always adore both the 9th and 10th doctors, but now the 11th doctor is here in MATT SMITH!!! :D The one thing I know for sure is that MURRAY GOLD IS AMAZING NO MATTER WHO THE DOCTOR IS!

I just started watching this series, and I dont understand what the argument is? Both, if not maybe all the actors who portrayed the Doctor are great...well maybe not all of them, but a bountiful nonetheless.
there's this little quirkiness and craziness that just makes Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor simply ... crazy? lol. True, David Tennant was brilliant (one of the most brilliant actors in DW by the way) but his Doctor could be downright scary sometimes (the episode on Mars was just ... wow...gone totally crazy, Dr?). Matt Smith can act as a serious Doctor too but most of the time the atmosphere he exudes remains light and playful.
@TEHEmmie After watching all of the Tennant episodes I really can't choose. I like the more serious and focused tone of him, but Matt kinda has the playful attitude and stuff. He's been good so far, yes, the episodes did get better as the series -5/6- progressed. Matt has big shoes to fill other wise, many people liked Dr.Who as David and will always prefer him. I think Matt can make his mark on the DW series, I'd love to see how far he goes in the episodes.
@TEHEmmie I can't disagree more. I mean Matt's pretty good but he can NOT compare to Tennant.Tennant had such power and such depth and such a love that Matt has never had. While Tennant had a lower budget, he shone through it all. Matt has fancy graphics and storylines and jokes but he's lost the beauty of his flaws and the love that the past companions brought. Amy is terrible, Rory is constantly undervalued and Riversong destroys the very morals that make the Doctor so mysterious and heroic.
@TheTardisDreamer the doctor isn't heroic though, he's done terrible things and its nice to see that side of the doctor come out, but matt smith and david tennant are two different actors, and while tennant did have such depth, matts had that charm about him
I find Amy a brilliant companion, and its a shame rory is undervalued but at least he got to punch hitler, and river song is awesome, even if she does prevent the doctor from being mysterious
My favorite Doctor will always be the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) but David Tenant's Tenth Doctor is my second favorite. His run had some of the best incidental music of the series.
I want a spin-off series of the human doctor in Rose's world. They don't even have to travel in time, they just hang around. I just want David Tennant back :(
@rohgenextfan I guess... but David will always be my Doctor :(... not saying that the show shouldn't change because I agree, it would become stale eventually, but his series are the best by far... couldn't really get into the matt smith series, cus it was a bit strange and he's so much younger than all the other actors to portray him. I guess I just liked it as it was.
Tom Baker will be always be the Doctor for the first series for me and David Tennant will always be the Doctor for the second. Matt Smith is okay but not as near as good as the the Tenth reincarnation.

@Mega1234joe They like doing that- letting you cry and then raising your spirits before the episode ends. However I agree- they failed at making it work in this episode. I'll love Donna forever... but her entrance wasn't appreciated.

Everyone I talk to now about Doctor Who either tells me they stopped watching it or they only watch it because they can't let go of it completely. The only people I talk to who watch it now aren't serious fans. I watch it because I miss it but really I have no real respect for the show now because the everything was changed for no real reason and they lost the morals that made the show. R.I.P DW...

@TheTardisDreamer Me and my mates are serious fans (we have watched all of the episodes since 2005 and quite a lot of classic ones) and we watch the show now and agree that Moffat is a better showrunner than Davies. If the show died when David regernerated then you really aren't a serious fan. The Doctor regenerates. So what? It's the same show and the same man, just a different face. They lost the morals? You probably haven't seen many of Matt's eps then.

I've sent letters from Australia to Cardiff, when I was 10 I read one of those massive books from cover to cover and read more since, when I owned my first series I watched an episode a dayfor months and months without missing one, I write fanfiction, I drive my family insane, I follow all the Doctor Who media. I just hate the fact that when Matt came they changed everything and I HAVE watched it, same with my friends.

@TheTardisDreamer The point of the show is that it regenerates every few years. Amy, Rory and River are better than Rose, Mickey, Martha and Jack. I have cried more since Matt took over. In David's reign i cried during Doomsday and End of time. In Matt's I cried in; The Beast Below, Cold Blood, The Pandorica Opens, A Christmas Carol, The Impossible Astronaut, The Doctor's Wife, A Good Man Goes To War, The Girl Who Waited, The God Complex and The Wedding Of River Song.

It bugs me first of all, that people say they don't like Matt Smith because of his looks - he's pretty damn fit to me, but that doesn't matter. They are the same person, Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith. Just differient personalities. Course you'll aways have your favorite I suppose, even if not by much, but I honestly can't choose because they are all so differient and similar, and they all have, and will keep making a huge impact.

There's no way to compare between the two!! What I find sad, though, is that nobody ever talks about Christopher Eccleston! He was my FIRST doctor, and that always holds a special place in my heart, and he BROUGHT THE SHOW BACK!!! and he was FANTASTIC, but then DAVID TENNANT CAME :), and he was amazing. I will always adore both the 9th and 10th doctors, but now the 11th doctor is here in MATT SMITH!!! :D The one thing I know for sure is that MURRAY GOLD IS AMAZING NO MATTER WHO THE DOCTOR IS!

there's this little quirkiness and craziness that just makes Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor simply ... crazy? lol. True, David Tennant was brilliant (one of the most brilliant actors in DW by the way) but his Doctor could be downright scary sometimes (the episode on Mars was just ... wow...gone totally crazy, Dr?). Matt Smith can act as a serious Doctor too but most of the time the atmosphere he exudes remains light and playful.

@TEHEmmie After watching all of the Tennant episodes I really can't choose. I like the more serious and focused tone of him, but Matt kinda has the playful attitude and stuff. He's been good so far, yes, the episodes did get better as the series -5/6- progressed. Matt has big shoes to fill other wise, many people liked Dr.Who as David and will always prefer him. I think Matt can make his mark on the DW series, I'd love to see how far he goes in the episodes.

@TEHEmmie I can't disagree more. I mean Matt's pretty good but he can NOT compare to Tennant.Tennant had such power and such depth and such a love that Matt has never had. While Tennant had a lower budget, he shone through it all. Matt has fancy graphics and storylines and jokes but he's lost the beauty of his flaws and the love that the past companions brought. Amy is terrible, Rory is constantly undervalued and Riversong destroys the very morals that make the Doctor so mysterious and heroic.

@TheTardisDreamer the doctor isn't heroic though, he's done terrible things and its nice to see that side of the doctor come out, but matt smith and david tennant are two different actors, and while tennant did have such depth, matts had that charm about him
I find Amy a brilliant companion, and its a shame rory is undervalued but at least he got to punch hitler, and river song is awesome, even if she does prevent the doctor from being mysterious

My favorite Doctor will always be the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) but David Tenant's Tenth Doctor is my second favorite. His run had some of the best incidental music of the series.

@rohgenextfan I guess... but David will always be my Doctor :(... not saying that the show shouldn't change because I agree, it would become stale eventually, but his series are the best by far... couldn't really get into the matt smith series, cus it was a bit strange and he's so much younger than all the other actors to portray him.
