A classical romantic interpretation which is perhaps arguably the best one so far on Youtube. It is incredible how many interpretations this delicate piece of music can generate. To me, some miss the spirit altogether, some play it nicely, but Pietro Rigacci is in the league of those who get it right and please the soul. Kudos!
That is a good point... I think there is a difference between acting like you feel something, and actually feeling it completely without being sentimental. I tend to be too rigid when I play a romantic piece, but I am just a complete beginner. I don't think theatrics are good, but real emotion must be expressed in my view.
I will take your advice though, keep it simple, but let emotions come through if they do naturally.
Very good performance. I am working on translating emotion into my piano playing and on developing expressivity. I can tell this takes a lot of practice, and not merely technical practice, but emotion.
@zenflare keep it simple... I think the interpretation and how you play it remains what's beautiful... Not all the acting part... Who cares if you shake youre head or smthing. First I thought it was all natural, but when I knew they were actually working on it... I didn't like it...

Stunning! Best rendition of Clair de Lune so far on Youtube that I've seen. I don't like the electronic ones, nor the ones that have the player putting no emotion in (all are way too fast). Good to see someone making real music.

Quando un interpretazione riesce a rimuovere ricordi di 41 anni prima, io la ritengo perfetta. Ascolto questo Clair de Lune di Debussy da allora, viaggiando in tutto il mondo. La prima volta fu al Ridotto della Fenice a Venezia. Ogni esecuzione è una narrazione percepibile anche attraverso le immagini che per noi essa descrive e rappresenta. Grazie maestro Rigacci, mi ha reso felice con la Sua arte.
Non sono molto d'accordo. La sua versione non è niente male, però in alcuni punti è troppo molle, mentre ai vari crescendo bisognerebbe (questa è una mia opinione) abbinare una certa irregolarità ritmica fondata sull'impeto (soprattutto al cambio di tonalità). Resta comunque un'interpretazione molto espressiva.
esatto...bravo ma con le piccole imperfezioni che hai elencato... del resto è un pezzo abbastanza semplice e di conseguenza non va eseguito allo "stremo"
