i love that he gets an itchy back from all the sand and just goes ahead and gives himself a little scratch so obviously not in the script but it's elvis -- he can do what he wants and it makes it so real and him
@stillpunk1419 well, have the movies back then werent scripted, they would just go along with some basic lines and act natural. there nothing but thick novel scripts now
this song makes me cry -- it takes me back to the 60's and i was a kid but i LOVED elvis - my mom was a huge fan -- this is one of my fave elvis movies -- his films always make me smile and feel so awesome -- love you big E xxxx
Elvis was surely the King of rock no doubt! :D he was the best singer. he was a true legend. he may be gone but he's not forget ♥ and he was a beautiful man :) he looked super gorgeous in this movie. i think he was always gorgeous with the hair and his eyes and that smile :3

@hoss73ford1 exactly! I don't think people my age (teenagers)actualy reolise the impact this man had on the worls of music , without elvis tennagers would still be classed as adults and they would have no independace
@LoisFayeR I wish more teens thought like you. I'm certainly no granny with fond memories of having had Elvis girl fever back at a time no one remembers, but even my generation thinks of him as nothing more than the guy in a white jumpsuit and big sideburns who died, somewhat young and overweight, from prescription drugs. The music and legacy he left behind is just taken for granted.
@cazonetta the low level of apprecation for elvis shocks me so badly , he changed the face of music and people in my class dont even notice i mean one boy said all elvis did waas sing about dogs and wear blue shoes . people these days seriously have no clue .
Whenever a movie of his was released, I told everyone I could, "It's an Elvis movie!" and I would be in the theaters, seeing his films, as many times as I could. I saw him at the Inglewood Forum, with the tickets at 10.00 each. When he died, it created an incredible void in the entertainment industry and in his fans. He will never be replaced, no matter who comes along.
I made (when I was about 12 years old) a taperecording of the whole movie, and I listened to the tape every evening, before I got to sleep. After a while I knew every word of the spoken words in the movie, Follow That dream, and this song was my favo.... I am 44 now, and still I say...ELVIS FOREVER, still get goosebumbs when I see him and hear his warm voice. Greetings from Holland.
@sunrecords56 I just checked this film was made 1962, the weight i believe didn't pile on till 1975/76. Elvis was and is one of my favourite singers and actor's of all time :)

i don't know. the more i think about it the more apparent it is; ELVIS was WAY better than the Beatles. When u dig, you'll find songs, some that charted, some not- that will blow your mind. He's a never ending treasure chest. I mean i liked John lennon WORKING CLASS HERO and all, but the early beatles were kind of awful- a white BAR band essentially doing covers of JUMP music (as they used to call rock back during the 'original era')
@peterchoyce Brilliantly put...there is so much more to the King than just the image. A complex and compelling artist who made interesting and relevant music for 23 years.
Hey Tony, What an excellent recording of this, one of my very favorite E.P. songs! I just subbed you! I hope we can share alot of great music.. I'm listening...The Captain...
This a great song from one of my favorite Elvis movies-and, I would argue, a decent film on its own right;some genuinely funny scenes and really nice story. Howeve, this particular segment is awful, really silly. I love the way Elvis **tries** to make this utterly improbable situation look somewhat natural by fidgeting around, scratching his neck, playing with the sand, etc. I get the impression he realized this whole set up was ridiculous, but was dong his best, gamely, to make the scene work.
@coolkat4456 ... Hey Cool ... I thought I'd say that Elvis did lead a happy life. His problems arose from prescribtion drug addiction which didn't start causing him real stress until the last 3 years he was alive. Elvis had an absolute ball .. and said so on many occasions.
It's great to see Elvis in this movie again, singing so great & looking so awesome! I've posted a video response with Justin Shandor #1ETA singing a 60's song, and hope everyone visits our channel where we feature him. Elvis Forever!
@WOghost I agree. I'm 16, and have loved Elvis for as long as I can remember. I have Lilo and Stitch to thank. God Bless you Elvis, and may you Rest In Peace xxx
@WOghost me too! everyone makes fun of me for it but i really dont care what they say! ive been liking 50s music since i was 5! ik that this isnt a 50s song but i still love it! :)
Track is often performed live in concert by Bruce Springsteen who often pays homage to Elvis. This is what I admire about Bruce. Probably one of the best songs from an Elvis movie.
@TWALITCH This so true. Every photo and every second of every movie Elvis is photogenic- except in the last year or so of his life. He was a fine actor too. The producers and director of Midnight Cowboy wanted Elvis to play the role of Joe Buck, but Colonel Tom Parker rejected the role without even telling Elvis. Jon Voight eventually played the part. It would have defined him as an actor. But you're right Twalitch in his movies the women dont even try and hide their fascination for him.
I wish this number had been better staged in the movie...

It's great to see Elvis in this movie again, singing so great & looking so awesome! I've posted a video response with Justin Shandor #1ETA singing a 60's song, and hope everyone visits our channel where we feature him. Elvis Forever!

Youngish Elvis was quite good-looking... Actually, he was atteractive (under the polyester jumpsuit) even to his death...

Track is often performed live in concert by Bruce Springsteen who often pays homage to Elvis. This is what I admire about Bruce. Probably one of the best songs from an Elvis movie.

there is a slight difference in this version, it is not the original, but very close. Thx.

The only actor i have ever seen in film, where the women just look at him fascinated with his beauty , they just want to devour him :)
TWALITCH 1 year ago 29
@TWALITCH This so true. Every photo and every second of every movie Elvis is photogenic- except in the last year or so of his life. He was a fine actor too. The producers and director of Midnight Cowboy wanted Elvis to play the role of Joe Buck, but Colonel Tom Parker rejected the role without even telling Elvis. Jon Voight eventually played the part. It would have defined him as an actor. But you're right Twalitch in his movies the women dont even try and hide their fascination for him.

Elvis had, and still does, more charisma, charm and "IT" than amyone who ever lived.
