DB Cooper didn't have no shtinkin wingsuit. BTW, do you actually generate lift w/one? My guess is temporary lift from extreme exit spped (@the cost of suit' longevity?).
I'd love to try it sometime! to that other guy, I just learned yesterday from on of my instructors that USPA said we have to be 1000ft above/below left and right of clouds, but hopefully I get the chance where it happens accidentally lol
@Svittidiu I did faster exits, up to 165 knots, but above 140 to 150 knots, the added speed, is also what slows you down (more drag), so you dont get a whole lot of extra altitude from more speed.
@mccordia: Wow, have you actually flown in a wingsuit.? Thats pretty impressive! I, like many have had many happy dreams about flying but sadly when you wake up, reality brings you back to the real world where walking safely is the best that the world can offer me...lol. Give me a shout when science and technology resolve the landing problem without having to have a parachute...then I might just get a wingsuit, join you up there and try it myself... :)
@mccordia: Yeah, fair enough. I suppose it just depends who's doing it. For me, if I was to fly in one, I'd want to know that there wasnt guna be any major fuck ups. Theres always that possibility that the parachute could get snagged in something (eg. a tree) where as if someone came up with a solid method/invention that could slow you down and land you safe without having to open out a piece of aparatus with a huge span then I'd feel so much more comfortabe. At the moment, theres restrictions
@mccordia: Having said that, if I really wanted to do it and if I had the opportunity...the fact that a parachute was the only way possible way to get back onto the ground safely, I wouldnt let that get in my way. The video's of those guys in Norway, proximitey flying blow me away. Ive been watching them on and of for the past few years and it never fails to astonish and exite me at the thought that I might get a chance to have a go at it in the future as tests continue to make them safer.
My favourite part of this video isn't the jump out (which is still awesome) but the walking toward the back of the plane and just seeing that desert of cloud. Awesome!
do u ever thought about a high speed exit combined with the skyvan going into deep-dive and u fly back into the cargoroom and shouting "hey guys im back!!!!!111!! <.<"^^
The bigger the wingsuit, the higher you can get above the plane (so suits like Ghost/Stealth etc will be easier) but it shouldnt be hard to also do in a Phantom II
3 minutes is already do-able from normal (12.500 ft) alttude, with a 2.500 ft pull (and normal exit)
a 15.000 ft high speed exit, by a skilled flyer could easily pass the 4 minute mark. Fatigue (dependant of suit design) being the only limitation to duration.

@FarceTheory Its actually not zero G. But notmal 1G, and during the push up, probably even a few G's more, due to acceleration :)
The plane is flying level during the exit (watch the horizon in the 2nd video on my account;)

@mccordia "My mistake" Awesome take off!!!

@chittychad18 where do you see anyone passing through clouds?
With a wingsuit you travel large distances, and its quite easy to fly to and through open areas.
mccordia 1 year ago
Where was this? it's illegal to fly through clouds...
chittychad18 1 year ago
@chittychad18 You live in the USA, over here in Europe we are allowed to fall through clouds! It's hella fun you should try it once!

@MrProudAthiest yes, all videos you see are me/shot by me.
That aside, there is no 'landing problem'. We fly these suits for the flying part, landing isnt the goal ;)

flashvortx 1 year ago
yea..not really a problem if you know where you are exiting, and where the sun is..
Just make sure there are no high canopies in clouds etc or other scary stuff when jumping through 'industrial haze' like this ;)
mccordia 1 year ago
Absolutely incredible!!! Looks like your head was a little too close for comfort to the tail.
seoceancrosser 1 year ago
You hit the airstream when past the tail already. So unless the plane is diving, its impossible to hit (unless you jump up, and do a 'silly' hit;))
mccordia 1 year ago
So sweet! pilot in cahoots, don't try this out of an otter without staying tucked. keep clear of that tail.

what kind of wingsuit? could the lift be generated with a phantom II?
norcalbaker10 2 years ago
This 'party trick' is mostly about exit speed.
The bigger the wingsuit, the higher you can get above the plane (so suits like Ghost/Stealth etc will be easier) but it shouldnt be hard to also do in a Phantom II
mccordia 2 years ago
Hello,have a question about wingsuits.
How would the effect be on let us say : 1 man ,2 meter tall,90 kg, how long can u be flying free.
from 15000 ft,
b.t.w Nice exit..
tag128 2 years ago
@tag128 It could be close to 3 mins or slightly more from that height, depending on your skill level as well.
JustinR81 1 year ago
3 minutes is already do-able from normal (12.500 ft) alttude, with a 2.500 ft pull (and normal exit)
