Answering some questions:

1. You need a DVD recorder, not just a player.

2. Naturally, you will need a recordable DVD to record onto.

3. All you're really doing is plugging your PS3's "Video Out" into the "In" on the back of your recorder, and then running from the "Out" on the recorder to the "In" on your TV.
