No, I just got your back that's all. Hey, now that I have your attention: Could you show where you put the meter on the power supply. You didn't show it on the video.
@izehavitt2 u can test it anywhere between two point underneath the circuit board, just be sure that u get a voltage reading on both sides where i show that line on the circuit board. The voltage reading wont be the same one side is AC the other DC
Hi! I've got yloded ps3 60 gb recently. The problem is that after powering it on it plays for 30sec - 2 minutes, and then stucks - sometimes with ylod, sometimes without. I tried gilsky metod with heatgun two times - but no luck, it still stucks. Could it be power supply problem or I heated chips not well?
I have this problem that when I switch the power button on the back on, the system beeps instantly three times, and the red light will keep on blinking for ever...
NOT YLOD goddamnit, so how will I know how to fix this?
It seemed obvious that the psu was the issue because it wouldn't do ANYTHING if it had power. but I've replaced that thing, and now it still won't work.
I can't find anything on the web on this problem, not a SINGLE case
@Soetman I have the exact same problem! It's such a pain. I thought it was the PSU at first too but as I've learned from these videos it isn't. It seems very rare but apparently it means you have a "General Hardware Failure". Any replies I've seen about the problem are just speculative, y'know stuff like "it's probably the graphic card connect" no one really seems to know.
I'm just going to call Sony and see what they'll do.
BTW I have 60GB Backwards compatible, occasional use :(
@shortie989 That's right, I had the 60Gb also, and I called sony and they said it probably was a general failure too. But I send mine to them to receive a refurbished 60 GB model from them for 150 € payment (single payment)
Only the one they send me was broken and the fan would freak out within minutes, the next one was also broken, so in the end they gave me a new 160 gb model, with GoW III as a compensation. (also, my insurance covered the 150 € so in the end it only cost me 3.5 months... )
I bought a new one at a store where I could return a product within two weeks without even giving a valid reason. So I had something to do for two weeks, and then I returned it (A)
Hey i just opened up my power supply and what i noticed is that theres this yellow part that his a sort of liquid material applied to it, it looks to me like some parts of that liquid over flew out of that place and they are a bit on that black thing.....i have the YLOD btw, but i dont know what problem it is.
well, i changed the supply but didnt fixed the problem, but now i get blue light on the front of the console (the light of BD) but no power, my old supply model is: ZSSR539IA and my new supply is: APS-226 is the new supply compatible? the model of my console is 60GB (CECHA01)
kay, i bought another power supply, probably ill get it this week, ill change the supply, but im afraid if it doesnt work, where do u think is the problem? on the motherboard? on the little board tht is eject/power button? or on the flat cables?
@matheus1cia if that didnt fix the problem then it can be anything, but at least u know where to start looking. Keep tracing the voltage from the power supply down to the motherboard and then to all the other modules, see if they are all getting powered up.
@matheus1cia Hey bro, u gonna have to open up the supply but then will have to turn power back on with it open up so be careful then just check both sides of the "line" like i showed in the vid. Most likely if its bad u will have voltage on one side and nothing on the other. Good luck
Hi, great vid! I am testing mine at the moment. When I plug the back connector in and switch it on at the back, I am getting a reading of 5v across some of the front connectors (which I believe is correct), but no voltage reading across the copper holes.
Does this mean that my power supply probably is the problem? Thanks for your advice.
Could this have happend from it being dropped? because my ps3 slim has the same exact symtoms except that the bottom was struck multiple times by someone.
i have the original 60gb ps3 and my power supply is different looking than yours... i dont seem to have the second fuse that you mention in your vid. and my board is arranged differently, although it is the original power supply for the 60gb ps3
can anyone please tell me what my problem is.. my ps3 is plugged in correctly everywhere and when i flip the power switch on in the back, the ps3's red light doesnt even come on.. i unplugged everything and tryed plugging it into a different power brick to see if that was the problem but it wasnt.. it still would just not turn on. what could this be?? is my power supply fried? i dont know what to do.. iv taken it apart nearly 15times and im about to give up. any suggestions???
hey man well my ps3 dont work when i hit the power botton on the back my ps3 start blinking the fan dont even spin or nothing can you tell me whats the prob?
Hey ichanged the on off switch it still didn't cut on. What's the power cable? If u mean the plug tht goes into the wall it still works fine, I even tried a new wall plug. What else could it be?
send me a mail, about what happen the last time it was working and if u hear or see anything happening when u replaced the supply. Did u check the old supply?
hey kay can it be cause of the overheating?...cause mine was shuting off and it wouldnt turn on from the main power botton...i waited for like a minite and it turned back on..so what i did i add a fan on top of it now it doesn shut off... well it hasent so far...
AHH!!!! I just had the same problem... I was able to fix YLOD for the first time after i re assembled the system back together there was one thing i forgot to do before i did anything and it was to turn off the main power behind the system i had it on and when i went to plug it into the outlet.. A loud pop noise sounded and sure enough i popped a fuse in the main power supply fuse....... but luckly i found a power supply at ebay that i just ordered lol...
Did it work again? I had the YLOD fix but the light won't come on. I've double check all my ribbons and connections but no luck. Is it just the power supply or did I mess up the motherboard? I
if tit does not turn on at all not even the red light then its the power supply...remember always start at the root of the problem....if the is no light there is not power going through
Actually it was my power switch board that was out. I was able to turn it on with the controllers. Unfortunately my PS3 died again. I bought a new power supply and tested the PS3 with it to no avail.
If anyone wants a complete fix, buy a new console.
I dont think so, for one reason the yellow light is taking a longer time to come on compared to my PSU problem, what is that message saying on the screen when u turned it on?
it looked like yu had a 60gb ps3, anyways, i have a 60gb and i had the exact same problem. I followed your instructions and got the same power supply ( the one without holes on the top edge) i will be getting it today, and im hoping this will fix my ps3

Yo this is a good video reason being i bought a 60 gb ps3 from a guy and it's giving me power problems the blue and green light comes on as usual the t.v screen sparks like the system is being activated the hdd lights up once once then goes out then that's it no video no sound so it all makes since to test the power supply w/ amp meter to find where it's gettin power and where it's losing power

I have the same problem with my PS3 60Gb PAL Version. The PS3 trys to start as I push the button but it will shut down after one or two seconds like you discribed it. If you take a look at the inside of the psu you will see that 5 small cables are for the fan and the standby mode of the PS3 (12Volt ON/OFF, 2X 5Volt SB RTN, 2x 5Volt SB). If you disconect the 12 Volt Cable the fan will not start. So I guess the the primary side of my PSU works. But how did you check the voltage of the secondary?
Bambule07 2 years ago
Hey wasup bro, best way to check the secondary side output is to use a voltage meter. If you flip the psu on the other side there should be 2 copper holes which sends voltage down too the rest of the modules, use those 2 holes as the test point.
