I am a tax payer. I'm also a property owner. But because I bought my house last year, Prop 13 means I pay much higher taxes than my neighbors. And because of Prop 13, corporations that own commercial property get the REAL SUBSIDY -- which is not the group it was desinged to protect. If we amended Prop 13, our schools would have all the money they need.

Your argument is that the people of California want & can afford higher taxes? For bigger government? The elected Republicans have one piece of leverage in California-the budget. The Democrats can pass any other unnecessary legislation that they want without minority consent. That is why we have global warming legislation, a law against dogs loose in an auto, and almost had a law against spanking. There should be a rule that NO legislation can be debated or passed until the budget is complete.

March 4, the People rejected Measure A: City of Clovis 1% sales tax increase without sunset clause;

May 19, the People rejected Measures 1A through 1E: Increased taxes/spending.

You are LYING about the May 19th election. Only one of the 5 measures -- Prop 1A -- had taxes, and it simply extended existing taxes for an extra 2 years. But Prop 1A had a *spending cap* that would have starved government, which is why a lot of liberals opposed it.

1B did not raise taxes. It just said you should spend certain monies on education. 1C did not raise taxes. It borrowed money. 1D and 1E did not raise taxes -- it just stole money from children and the mentally ill.
