Yes, but the problem with such generalization is that it becomes the slogan of the ill-informed (eg. the woefully ignorant Fox tea-baggers). Supply-side economics is not that simple. Tax cuts stimulate added economic activity at varying rates depending on how they are applied. Low/middle income tax cuts put more money into the economy because of one's propensity to spend. "Tax and spend", (fiscal policy) also creates growth. Tax cuts and gov't spending stimulate growth. But both have limits.

I'm baffled by this comment. We had a budget surplus when Bush took office in 2000. When he left office eight years later, Republicans had run up a record deficit--from the trillions we've spent on the Iraq invasion and reckless tax cuts, to name two huge expenses that have put this country in the red. The 'pay as you go' concept was lost on republicans, not democrats.

Yes, but the problem with such generalization is that it becomes the slogan of the ill-informed (eg. the woefully ignorant Fox tea-baggers). Supply-side economics is not that simple. Tax cuts stimulate added economic activity at varying rates depending on how they are applied. Low/middle income tax cuts put more money into the economy because of one's propensity to spend. "Tax and spend", (fiscal policy) also creates growth. Tax cuts and gov't spending stimulate growth. But both have limits.

No, these are not "just the facts". The *immediate* effect of a tax cut is a decrease in revenue. That's a fact. If, however, the tax cut stimulates growth, the growth can offset of even supersede the initial cut. (this is your argument). This can occur, but not always. Were that it just so simple.
There are 'marginal' effects to consider. That is, cutting taxes from different bases will have differing effects and so on.
Your claims on propensity to give charitably seem rooted in myth.

I'm baffled by this comment. We had a budget surplus when Bush took office in 2000. When he left office eight years later, Republicans had run up a record deficit--from the trillions we've spent on the Iraq invasion and reckless tax cuts, to name two huge expenses that have put this country in the red. The 'pay as you go' concept was lost on republicans, not democrats.

the simple solution to the entire mess is to turn unemployment insurance over to the health care insurance companies.
Then, just as benefits run out they can deny health coverage, all the unemployed will die and the problem is solved.

It is mathematically guaranteed to happen and it is happening fast. The states are bankrupt, and the federal government is also. Bring on the greatest depression. Well, if they would give corporations tax incentives to hire unemployed Americans like they did during Reagan's term you would not have to answer this question. Reagan's tax breaks got corps. to hire Americans rather than sending work to cheaper countries. I did not see Bush doing the same as Reagan. It would have hurt his global economy.

Don't act like your gonna balance the budget with legislation and then ignore it the first time a bill comes up to spend money we don't have. Cut things in other places to fund this crap if you have to, but obey the law you just passed to balance the budget. We can't continue to spend money we don't have.
