Greek is more debt-ridden than almost any other state in the EU. Its debt position amounts to nearly 95% of national GDP (only Italy is worse off with 104% [Italy already has military patrolling its mayor cities, btw! Just to feel safe, of course!]).
Education is merely a joke; schools/universities devastated; teachers get paid 600 - 700 € and are forced to take a 2nd job; health care is almost totally privatized (gotta pay cash for treatment - just like in good ol' atavistic AmeREICHa)...

I know. I've been envying the Greek people for their active opposition to just one murder by police. Here in the US, cops murder people everyday unprovoked and it seems like most people blame the victim. I also keep thinking about France a couple of years ago, when there was nationwide rioting over an accidental death caused by a police chase. Americans are so brainwashed by cop TV shows and cop movies that they always defend the police. Well, white Americans anyway.
it is not about the police, its about the collapsing economy and corruption in the banking system. The whole anarchist thing is a false flag perpetrated by the police themselves to de-legitemize protests about the economic and political corruption, and turn off the majority into following the legitimate protesters.
According to Greeks themselves, it is overwhelmingly about the police, though other grievances are now being expressed. Greek historian Nikos Raptos has a good summary of the background to the current riots that you can do a web search for. There are anarchists involved (and that's not a bad thing), as well as agents provocateurs police plants. The vast majority, though, are young and neither anarchists nor agents provocateurs but people sincerely angry about police attacks.
@ratonnewmex it is a period of rearrangements here in greece cause of the global crysis. you can see the goverment is dirty probably cause their are well payed by intercompanies or they are commanded by europe or usa to make things go like that...the way that things are here is like usa before 30-40 years people still have feelings and companies are not connected we the govermend... it is not that we dont like police or our govermend it is cause we dont want to end up in company-world
