Also, Wu Bi Xia also sings Western operas, and this alone sets her apart from those 'cross-over' singers like Song Zu Ying, who sings before a microphone with an orchestra. Wu doesn't require a microphone is such circumstances.
I think it was Li Gu Yi who said that you have to look good as well as sing good to really make it big. She got skewered in the press for saying that, but I think she merely spoke the truth. :)
I saw a few vids on 吴碧霞 recently uploaded to YouTube. I'm not an expert by all means, just as an average listener. Wu might have better skills, but I like Song's voice better and also a better presentation. I started checking out Song after seeing her singing with Domingo at the Beijing closing ceremony.

Comparing Song Zu Ying with Wu Bi Xia is already doing the former a great favour!
Li Gu Yi is nowhere as affecting as Zhu Peng Bo in the 1970's.

Wu Bixia is good, but I don't think she has quite enough of the charisma factor to become top billing in China. Tan Jin is Song's heir apparent.

Song's version of Velvet Fowers is not as good as Li Guyi's, who is the original singer. But she did her best. no mistakes.

Song Zu Ying is by no means a top singer in China.
Her voice is unstable.
For such type of songs, watch out for Wu Bi Xia now studying at the Julliard.

NOT in terms of artistry.
She is a bit on the 'vulgar side' by over-adorning herself, as well as not having the requisite techniques and musicality as Wu Bi Xia.
Wu recently performed in the suite "Dreams of Red Chamber" in many Chinese cities, and sent the audiences raving.
Song's 'Rong Hua' is really jarring to the ears.
