The worlds oil supply is finite. Oil is a dead end street. The farther you drive down a dead end street, the farther you have to drive back to turn the corner. DRILLING IS THE WRONG DIRECTION. We should be focussing on improved wind and solar power,(like Abengoa Solar in Spain.) If the US develops advances in wind and solar, the US capitalizes on those advances. (On a side note, we pay $1 for a quart of water. That's $4/gal for the most abundant resource on the planet. THAT'S terrifying.)
Yes, the fact that we've been shutting off domestic supplies of energy (whether it be oil, refining capacity, nuclear, even hydroelectic) IS pretty terrifying.
