I wonder if Linda knows that you're supposed to physically AGE when you get older? I swear she looks the exact same now as she did ten years ago... - Anyway, years ago I had the opportunity to hang out with her on a few times. (sorry about the pathetic name-stop) Ten minutes with her and you forget that she is the famous "Linda Blair." Within an hour you notice that she has the most contagious belly-laugh ever. And within a day you want to take her home to meet your mother.... :)
Love Linda Blair. She was great in The Exorcist. The true highlight of her acting career. Also, just wanted to comment on the comments of others regarding veganism. You know, by the laws of nature, animals must consume other animals. It is the way of life. I am a huge animal lover, so I sometimes even find it hard to realize that the sandwich I'm eating consists of a poor dead chicken or turkey, and I feel bad. However, like the Native Americans felt, you should give thanks to the creature.
Okay, not eating meat is one thing, but letting animals crawl all over you knowing that they lick their but is just disgusting to me. I grew up with all kins of pets, and I've come to one conclusion: they are animals and they belong outside.
@Lululila67 - This is common among children. In my youth I was allergic to most vegetables, not including potatoes. I found I could deal with fruits as long as they were in pies, on cakes, or somehow infused into desert pastries. As an adult I eat veggies and have been known to pick at a salad on occasion, but I still get that allergic side affect, the scrunched-up sourpuss unamused face, when munching on lettuce. No cure as of yet.
@bisty111 I'm sorry but no matter how NICE she is in real life, I can watch the exorcist while watching this at the same time and I'd still be freak out.
we dont need meat at all we can get the vit's, minerals from other food. im a vegetarian about a year an a half feel better now then i did when i used to eat meat .. people just rather fill their gut with meat then say ohh you need it an all this shit ! human race is a pack a greedy pests worst ting to ever happen to the planet wheh ye really look at it

it would be so irritating being the actor, that is just constantly getting reminded of the Exorcist every single day. I bet a day doesnt go by someone doesnt take the piss out the funny head spin in the movie.
Natural or not, I feel best when my diet is mainly composed of cooked animal. I believe that it has become very trendy for people to consider meat as bad and unhealthy, I feel nothing is further from the truth. Meat has a list of health benefits that make just about every other food (except eggs) look pretty weak in comparison. From the high quality absorbable amino acid profile to the very absorbable iron it contains, meat is a great food.
@tickyul cooked foods especially flesh foods cause an acidic condition in the body which contributes to a number of degenerative diseases as well as inflammation, this isn't a trend, these are facts. Toxic byproducts are created from cooking, especially grilling, frying and smoking. You can rationalize eating meat all you want. The end result is a shortened life span and a polluted planet.
@Suthenboy Really, cooked flesh foods have been a staple for how long? Man evolved and thrived mainly on meat and veggies. The Japanese eat lots of fish and they (Okinawans) live the longest and have some of the best health markers in the world. Omega 3 is a strong anti inflammitory, dha and epa are best obtained from animal sources, non animal sources of omega 3 convert very poorly to dha/epa.
@poosaypirate Uh, like the ethics of feeding a child a diet that is severly deficient in many nutrients and leads to health problems. Or, how about the Ethics or a lion eating the guts out of a live gazelle. You see, nature has its own set of ethics....the food chain....man is in it too.
@tickyul apparently you suck at reading comprehension skills, did I stutter? i said
'Thats an allusion not only to ANIMAL ABUSE IN FACTORY FARMS but over farming agriculture and the amount of grain required to produce an ounce of meat vs environmental usage and destruction
unless of course we are going to reverse world population '
Theres nothing illuminating about your Food Chain remark but
bear in mind , everything in moderation - thats the key
@poosaypirate Could you try that post again, it is barely understandable, not because I am a tard....uh, you just do not put together you thoughts very well. A lot of the land that animals are raised on is unsuitable for growing crops, so this is a more effective use of land. Man is meant to eat meat, the nutrients in this form of nutrition is vital to his health. Oh yeah, if you are a Vegan do not forget to take your B12 lifeline.
Having dogs not eat meat? A human has the choice to not eat meat and that if all for the human, but a dog is meant to eat meat. In the wild, a dog eats meat, they are carnivores and we should not be changing their diet like that, it is not for the betterment of the animal.
I am a vegetarian but I do not think it is for everyone nor do I think an animal that is meant to eat meat should be fed a veggie diet, it's not fair for them.
Nothing's wrong with being an Omnivore, a Vegetarian, a Vegan, or a Canibal for all i care. Choosing your diet is like choosing a religion, or a political stance. You can be whatever you want, it does'nt make a difference. Thats why you always have the choice.
I only disagree with veganism because the way our bodies have evolved, it's impossible to get all of your vital nutrients from eating only vegan foods; you must take supplements to get a full complement of bodily nutrition. Vegetarianism with products still misses some, but at least provides more natural nutrients than vegan.
Whether it's worth the sacrifice to prevent animal suffering is opinion. But you should be able to get adequate nutrition from food alone to be healthy, if you can.
Atenra, I agree with you absolutely. You said it well too. I try to explain this to vegetarians and vegans alike, but they get very defensive; and, usually one claims they don't need ANYTHING other than fruits, vegetables, and nuts.... this is ridiculous. We have people who are stuck
up enough to eat no meat when people are starving to death. We ARE meat eaters. I love animals too, but we are what we are; to deny this is crazy and to go as far as to not eat what you REQUIRE }meat is INSANE!
up enough to eat no meat when people are starving to death"
YES, I stand by this comment. People ARE dying from starvation all over the world.. meanwhile fools like you are whining about eating meat... are you serious?! This is a ridiculous argument.. read ALL of my comments and THEN respond... Do you disagree that we are meateaters? If so.. please CHOOSE not to breathe air.. I bet if you try real hard... you can live!
The whole "what are we meant to eat" is a debate that will go on for many years and means different things to different people. I don't think there's any one answer, except what what works for the person. I have no problem with people eating meat, if they think it's right. It would just be good if people used their critical faculties and then decided it was ok to eat meat... Personally I don't need it.
I come from a family of doctors with varying opinions of veganism, some for, some not. But not one has suggested that a vegan only eat food for their diet. If they did, they would get sick from lacking so many vital nutrients. They have to pop supps no matter how fit and regular they are.
That to me is an indication of what we are meant to eat. If you can't stay healthy from eating food, as should be proper for ANY animal, you're not doing your body service.
i totally agree with this response. I think a lot of people exposed to the facts, especially about factory farming, would change their mind about eating meat though.
Okay... you are NOT healthier, you don't know me... dude...
Also, answer the question:
Does the fact that the definition of Omnivore is the PRIMARY sources of food are BOTH plants and animals.... thus! If we are omnivores (which we are.. duh...) then one of our PRIMARY food types is MEAT. I don't like it that animals must die in order for this to occur, but then again, it's the same as me feeling sad for the antelope being chased, caught, and eaten alive.. at least we cook'em! lol
Well, dude... you sound quite angry and there's no reasoning with you. Maybe you should go to a slaughterhouse and see what you're consuming. I feel sick at the thought of it.
Ummm... no... We are MEAT EATERS, OMNIVORES, NOT HERBIVORES. We REQUIRE meat. We have evolutionarily adapted to eat meat, we are HUNTERS.... stating otherwise is absurd.
Being a vegetarian is like giving your cat lettuce for the rest of it's life, and seeing what happens.
It's ok to be uninformed. I'm sure if you do the research you'll find that what your wrote above is far from accurate. Our anatomy is completely different from cats so your comparison is ridiculous. But like I said, do some actual research and post facts rather than opinions.
I have done actual research and I assure you, YOU ARE A MEAT EATER. You require meat, you are a hunter, and your entire body is built around this premise. You have forward facing eyes to browse the horizon for prey, you have sharp teeth in front for ripping and tearing meat from bone.
Cats are mammals, so are we; this alone makes us VERY close (relative to time on an evolutionary scale).
Like I said, it's EXACTLY the same as giving a cat lettuce and giving it the "choice". LOL!
Far from different? How so? Please explain. We are mammals, we have meat-eating teeth, organs to digest meat; we are hunters.. I could go on and on. You sir, are the incorrect party here. Try eating nothing but lettuce, see what happens.
uh..(1)we do not have the incisor teeth animals have (2)our digestive system is not designed to EASILY digest meat (it actually taxes our system--furthermore, meat putrefies in our bowels because of the length of time taken for digestion). (3)just because we are mammal does not infer carnivore (elephants, gorillas, cows etc are all vegetarian). (4)carnivores can eat meat raw-humans have to cook it (is that natural?) (5)if vegetarianism is fatal, why aren't we all dead?
@imaginationunreal Okay, 1. YES we do have incisors that "animals have", why do you think they are called INCISORS!? And our teeth structure matches that of chimps. 2. Our digestive system DOES "easily" digest meat. ALL FOOD "taxes our system" causing bloodflow to the stomach... duh. This putrification of bowels is NONSENSE.
@herbiethebarber Uh...they're called incisors, but we don't have the SAME incisors as animals, i.e. designed for tearing flesh. And chimps are VEGETARIAN. And for the record, our large intestines are NOT the same as any animal (they're much longer), therefore taking more time for meat to pass EASILY (as oppose to say fruits or vegetables which take significantly shorter time). God, you're an idiot.
@imaginationunreal Incisors ARE incisors... DUMBASS! "The maxillary central incisor is a human tooth in the front upper jaw, or maxilla, and is usually the most visible of all teeth in the mouth. . As with ALL incisors, their function is for shearing or cutting food during mastication (chewing)" Now please deny this.... I bet you will
@imaginationunreal ALL primates have 12 incisors, used for SHEARING!!!! Hmm.. It seems to me that we wouldn't need those if we ate lettuce all day...
Also, meat DOES NOT take longer to pass through the colon.. this is BULLSHIT. Meat DOES NOT get "clogged" anymore than fruit does, in your intestines. Now, it does stay longer in your stomach.. of course, because it takes longer for all of the wonderful (lol) nutrition to break down.
Meat, in moderation (just like any other food) provides us with many required essentials. It is arguably the best source of protein there is. Please explain this "putrifying of the bowels" I'm curious what you mean. I hope you don't think that meat gets stuck in our bowels... etc... If so please refer to Penn & Tellers "Bullshit" episode on "cleansing", they say it best.
3. True, there are mammalian herbivores, which we ARE NOT. My point was we are primates (mammals, etc.) We have been classified as such for over 200 years. Why? Because of our characteristics. WE ARE omnivorous, denying this is similar to denying that we breathe air. We do, whether you LIKE IT or not. It doesn't matter what my opinion is, or what yours is; the bottomline is we are what we are.
@imaginationunreal 4. "Humans have to cook meat" yet another piece of nonsense. We cook our food for safety and taste. We don't HAVE TO, and early hominids obviously did not cook their food... duh!
5. Eating an uhealthy diet (extreeemely unhealthy if you eat absolutely no meat at all) can cause death. Denying this, again, is absurd.
@herbiethebarber You contradict yourself: "We cook our food for safety...", then say "We don't HAVE TO." Duh, safety??? That's the POINT moron. You don't eat it raw because of parasites etc. And again, if eating a vegetarian diet is fatal , then how do vegetarians live such long and healthy lives? Your arguments are absurd. The more important question is: Why are you even here if you have such a hang-up about vegetarianism? Eat your meat, clog up your arteries and your colon. You're hopeless.
@imaginationunreal DUH we don't HAVE TO do things safely... DUH! You unhealthy, pale, skinny, peon vegetarians make me sick. AGAIN! I NEVER said being a vegetarian is fatal. I said it is unhealthy, and IT IS. NAME ONE athlete who is THE BEST at what they do that is a vegetarian. Let's see you have hundreds of sports to choose from, can you name ONE person? Good luck.
@Suthenboy I do the actual research, it's called Anthropology.
Pre-humans were actually scavengers, they ate whatever they could get their hands on be it meat or no. At some point one of our early ancestors realized that the bones of a scavenged kill contained edible material that other animals couldn't get to which was the marrow.
The lovely brains we display today are a product of the fact that we had access to so much protein (from the marrow) while at the same time we had to puzzle out ways to get to the marrow. All of the work cracking open bones naturally led to a lot of injuries from shards of pointy bone which led us to our next epiphany... We could use those bone pieces to bring down our own game which lead to more protein (meat) and more thinking (tracking) and on and on and on.
I hate to break it to you, but the development and survival of our species was pretty much hinged on the consumption of meat. So much so that we developed hunting tools and tactics LONG before we developed agriculture.
@n0s1r Cite your sources, please. Oh, that's right, you're just pulling this information out of your ass. There is nothing special about animal protein. A person can get all the protein they need from non-animal based sources. If we NEEDED animal protein for our brains to grow, then those who are raised vegan from birth would all be invalids.
@FM897 Ok... Wow... Um... Obviously you have never taken an anthropology class... It's basic anthropology... As in, such common knowledge that there really isn't a source... But uh... I suppose I could state... Any anthropology textbook as a source... Or honestly... You could just Google it...
This information obviously destroyed your argument so thoroughly your only option was to resort to ad hominem attacks... Not only did you just fail Anthropology, you just failed debate as well...
@n0s1r Hunting was essential to our brain development though. Because of its high calorie content, it would sustain our ancestors for longer and they could focus on other activities aside from hunting, such as social interaction, resulting in brain development.
@FM897 actually... Again.. No... Hunter/Gatherers were always on the move following the game and heading to areas with large amount of fruiting plants... The great leaps in social interaction formed with the advent of agriculture...
To make a simple illustration for you the process went...
Because she uses supplements to make up for her lack of meat, and she wears A LOT of make up. The fact is she would be much healthier if she ate meat in moderation. Her body would be much better of, and she would live longer; actually she would live PERIOD; because without her "meat" pills, she would die.
My bottom-line is that is unnatural to be a vegetarian. Our bodies are designed to eat meat. Just because you are able to change this because of technological advances in the understanding of supplements and alternatives that have some of the same benefits.
I'm not against vegetarians, freedom is important, and to each their own. Yet again, it is simply not natural to not eat meat. Human beings are Omnivores, to you agree or disagree with this fact?
I can't really disagree with a fact. :) We are omnivores, which means we can eat what we like, which includes choosing not to eat meat. I've thought about this many times and I just couldn't eat meat but I really don't have a problem with people who do. Just as long as those that do realise that God or Mother Nature has given us a choice. Only problem with eating meat is that something with intelligence and a brain and a desire to live, like you or I, has to die. I don't feel good about that.
Yes, we are omnivores, BUT the definition of omnivore has NOTHING to do with "CHOICE".
"Omnivores are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source."
Can you tell me 1 other species which can choose to be vegetarian? Nope.
This "problem" you say is what life has been about for billions of years, some must die for others to live. That's what being a predator is all about.
Does a cat have a "choice" to eat lettuce? LOL You are a fool if you think that we are not OMNIVORES. Look at my comment below for the definition. Take note of the word PRIMARY. LOL
You are a predator, whether you accept this or not. Yes, you are "hunting" at the supermarket. Absolutely! Your grocery cart is your gun. LOL
The bottom line is WE ARE OMNIVORES, which means we EAT MEAT. Not by choice, but by need to survive. Dirty rottin stinkin? Meat smells great! Mmm.. Steak!
They don't. You are twisting math. You don't have any statistics for healthy meat eaters, thus you have nothing to compare. Yes, I agree that people who consume too much meat are less healthy, but not consuming any meat at all is absolutely ridiculous. We are primates, we are omnivores. Our front teeth have adapted to eat MEAT. It IS NOT a choice any more than breathing air is. Denying this is what aggravates me. I don't mind people being healthy, but please admit, we are meat eaters.
The thing is, there is NO evidence that we are herbivores... NONE. This is where we disagree. We ARE OMNIVORES, this IS NOT an opinion, not mine, and obviously not yours. Again, I think that people who are healthy and do not eat meat are not crazy, BUT to claim that we are not meat eaters is comparable to giving a CAT the same supplements, and saying "See look! he lived! so he's a vegan and an herbivore!" I'm sorry, but the reality is we ARE primates, we ARE meat eaters. No opinions here.
I'm sorry I didn't explain myself well. There is no debating that we've been eating meat for thousands of years. In that respect, we are omnivores. The question is, do humans function the best on an omnivorous diet? The answer is no. If you look at the structure of the human body in relation to carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores, the human design is essentially herbivorous. Our bodies are the most efficient when they're running on plant-based fuel. That is our optimal diet.
So first you admit we are omnivores THEN you tell me why we are not. Either we ARE or ARE NOT meat eaters.
Simply said, everything that you just wrote is flat out wrong.
Vegetarianism is unhealthy. Vegetarians, in general, have poorer health than everyone else. Meat protein is the highest quality protein. Without meat protein, it IS possible to subsist only on vegetable protein if you know what you are doing (most do not) but you will never be as healthy as someone who eats meat.
Please, show me some studies NOT payed for by the meat and dairy industry that show that people who eat meat are healthier. I'd love to look them over.
If you would at least have the decency to admit the only reason you are a vegan is because you think it's some sort of good guy badge that will get you laid by granola chicks I could respect you.
@n0s1r Go soak your head. You know absolutely nothing about me. I didn't make the dietary choices to gain respect from anyone and certainly not to get laid. Wow. Do you debate with people on Youtube to make yourself feel superior so YOU can get laid?
@n0s1r By the way, I'm a woman, not a man, but I would love to find a nice granola man OR woman to spend the rest of my life with, who actually cares about something other than him or herself and wants to make a positive impact so that people like YOU, your children, and grandchildren can live happily and healthily on this planet for as long as possible. Yeah, I know, we're such terrible people. And sadly, you still probably think that we're doing it for attention and some kind of prestige.
THEY DON'T LIVE LONGER. LONGER THAN WHO!? Please make a comparison of HEALTHY adult meat eaters VS so-called HEALTY vegetarians. Meat eaters win allllll day.
Yes, we eat TOO MUCH meat, but that doesn't mean that it is unhealthy, and to take it to such an extreme is downright crazy. It's like DECIDING to hop on 1 leg because you know a few people who have lived long from hopping on 1 leg.... sure it might work.. but as primates, as hominids, as omnviores, is it healthier to eat meat? YES!
Veganism is extreme? I think that murdering animals for food when we don't need to is pretty extreme. Whatever floats your boat. I'm tired of debating this with you. You're never going to convince me of anything and I'm never going to convince you of anything.
Choosing to do something TOTALLY UNNATURAL is extreme. It's similar to saying "I don't need sleep, see I can go without it!" It's really that absurd. We ARE hunters! Denying this is soooo ridiculous. As I've said before, give a cat nothing but lettuce and see what happens.
Murdering LOL. So I guess all predators are murders.... LOL! I guess we should lock up all the lions, tigers, and bears OH MY! Ask a doctor you fool. OH! that's right you're smarter than ALL doctors who have ever studied this though, because you read on biased article in a left-wing magazine.... WOW! Thank God that fools like you will NEVER run this country.
@herbiethebarber Those animals kill other animals for food because they HAVE to in order to survive. Humans kill other animals for PLEASURE. No other reason. Ask a doctor? Doctors have so little nutritional training, it's ridiculous. Most doctors don't know anything about what makes up a healthy diet. I'm not a fool. I go by what the vast majority of evidence suggests.
@herbiethebarber But you're right about one thing: people like me will NEVER run this country because people like me aren't corrupt enough to get to the top politically.
@FM897 people are starving all over the world yet you want to see here and be picky... You should be fucking thankful...
If chopping up every chicken on the planet earth would spare the life of ONE child I'd be all for it.
And don't try to hit me with that "blah blah blah grain goes to feed each chicken you eat which could be going to those kids" when the REAL travesty isn't the amount of GRAIN livestock eat but the amount of FOOD picky ass ungrateful people throw away.
@n0s1r Choosing to not eat certain foods is quite different from throwing food away. You just don't get it. It's not a matter of being picky. It's just that eating so much meat and dairy has become the norm in America so it seems odd when someone turns it down. The amount that we consume has greatly increased due to cheaper and more efficient farming methods so now more people can afford to eat more meat. In many other cultures, meat is a minuscule component of a meal if it's present.
@FM897 Um... No... When the food is available to you yet you choose to say "I will eat these foods, but not these foods" for the sake of a trend you are basically delivering a slap to the face of the hungry children of the world who don't really have any choice if they get to eat at all.
The way you contribute to the problem is you are one of those people that needs millions of options because you aren't happy to just eat what's in front of you which leads to overproduction which leads to waste
@n0s1r You have no idea what you're talking about. There's really no point in debating you anymore. Your rudeness is draining and we're not going to convince each other of anything anyway.
@FM897 The thing is, you aren't debating against me... You are trying to refute a long established scientific discipline commonly known as "ANTHROPOLOGY".
I have no need or desire to convince you, but if you try to come at me with wrongheaded vegetarian propaganda I'm going to shoot you down with facts, whether or not you are willing to fling yourself upon the spears of science as a sacrifice to your vegetarian crusade is entirely up to you. Just don't expect me not to laugh.
@FM897 Also, since you are trying to assert I have no idea what I am talking about I assume you have taken the time to read some literature on Anthropology? No?
@FM897 Perhaps we should educate lions not to eat meat and give them rubber teeth? Humans are the scum of the earth, if we weren't here the planet would be better off without us.
@MickeyLove01 I completely agree that the planet would be better off without us. Although, humans are the only ones with the know how to, for instance, stop an asteroid from hitting the Earth. So in that way, we are very valuable.
@MickeyLove01 The point that I made earlier was that at this time, we are the only species with the capability to stop some kind of moving body in space from colliding with the Earth. But other than that, I don't see any other potential benefit of humans.
thats an allusion not only to animal abuse in factory farms but over farming agriculture and the amount of grain required to produce an ounce of meat vs environmental usage and destruction
unless of course we are going to reverse world population

Love Linda Blair. She was great in The Exorcist. The true highlight of her acting career. Also, just wanted to comment on the comments of others regarding veganism. You know, by the laws of nature, animals must consume other animals. It is the way of life. I am a huge animal lover, so I sometimes even find it hard to realize that the sandwich I'm eating consists of a poor dead chicken or turkey, and I feel bad. However, like the Native Americans felt, you should give thanks to the creature.

From the high quality absorbable amino acid profile to the very absorbable iron it contains, meat is a great food.
tickyul 1 year ago
@tickyul cooked foods especially flesh foods cause an acidic condition in the body which contributes to a number of degenerative diseases as well as inflammation, this isn't a trend, these are facts. Toxic byproducts are created from cooking, especially grilling, frying and smoking. You can rationalize eating meat all you want. The end result is a shortened life span and a polluted planet.
Suthenboy 1 year ago
@Suthenboy Really, cooked flesh foods have been a staple for how long? Man evolved and thrived mainly on meat and veggies. The Japanese eat lots of fish and they (Okinawans) live the longest and have some of the best health markers in the world. Omega 3 is a strong anti inflammitory, dha and epa are best obtained from animal sources, non animal sources of omega 3 convert very poorly to dha/epa.

Thats why you always have the choice.
omarofuae 2 years ago
I only disagree with veganism because the way our bodies have evolved, it's impossible to get all of your vital nutrients from eating only vegan foods; you must take supplements to get a full complement of bodily nutrition. Vegetarianism with products still misses some, but at least provides more natural nutrients than vegan.
Whether it's worth the sacrifice to prevent animal suffering is opinion. But you should be able to get adequate nutrition from food alone to be healthy, if you can.
AtenRa 2 years ago
Atenra, I agree with you absolutely. You said it well too. I try to explain this to vegetarians and vegans alike, but they get very defensive; and, usually one claims they don't need ANYTHING other than fruits, vegetables, and nuts.... this is ridiculous. We have people who are stuck
up enough to eat no meat when people are starving to death. We ARE meat eaters. I love animals too, but we are what we are; to deny this is crazy and to go as far as to not eat what you REQUIRE }meat is INSANE!

The whole "what are we meant to eat" is a debate that will go on for many years and means different things to different people. I don't think there's any one answer, except what what works for the person. I have no problem with people eating meat, if they think it's right. It would just be good if people used their critical faculties and then decided it was ok to eat meat... Personally I don't need it.
capricious71 2 years ago
I come from a family of doctors with varying opinions of veganism, some for, some not. But not one has suggested that a vegan only eat food for their diet. If they did, they would get sick from lacking so many vital nutrients. They have to pop supps no matter how fit and regular they are.
That to me is an indication of what we are meant to eat. If you can't stay healthy from eating food, as should be proper for ANY animal, you're not doing your body service.
Abstinence can be as harmful as not
AtenRa 2 years ago
i totally agree with this response.

I don't like it that animals must die in order for this to occur, but then again, it's the same as me feeling sad for the antelope being chased, caught, and eaten alive.. at least we cook'em! lol

Ummm... no... We are MEAT EATERS, OMNIVORES, NOT HERBIVORES. We REQUIRE meat. We have evolutionarily adapted to eat meat, we are HUNTERS.... stating otherwise is absurd.
Being a vegetarian is like giving your cat lettuce for the rest of it's life, and seeing what happens.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
It's ok to be uninformed. I'm sure if you do the research you'll find that what your wrote above is far from accurate. Our anatomy is completely different from cats so your comparison is ridiculous. But like I said, do some actual research and post facts rather than opinions.
Suthenboy 2 years ago 2
I have done actual research and I assure you, YOU ARE A MEAT EATER. You require meat, you are a hunter, and your entire body is built around this premise. You have forward facing eyes to browse the horizon for prey, you have sharp teeth in front for ripping and tearing meat from bone.
Cats are mammals, so are we; this alone makes us VERY close (relative to time on an evolutionary scale).
Like I said, it's EXACTLY the same as giving a cat lettuce and giving it the "choice". LOL!
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
I have, our anatomy IS NOT completely different from cats. We are both
1. meat eaters
2. hunters
3. forward facing eyes (for hunting)
4. sharp teeth (for tearing meat)
5. similar digestive systems
6. similar organs and organ functionalities
and I could go on and on and on
Stating that we are not Omnivores is A LIE. Okay, YOU eat only fruits, nuts, and vegetables, for 6 months. We'll see how you look.... lol... dead.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
Far from different? How so? Please explain. We are mammals, we have meat-eating teeth, organs to digest meat; we are hunters.. I could go on and on. You sir, are the incorrect party here. Try eating nothing but lettuce, see what happens.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@herbiethebarber
uh..(1)we do not have the incisor teeth animals have (2)our digestive system is not designed to EASILY digest meat (it actually taxes our system--furthermore, meat putrefies in our bowels because of the length of time taken for digestion). (3)just because we are mammal does not infer carnivore (elephants, gorillas, cows etc are all vegetarian). (4)carnivores can eat meat raw-humans have to cook it (is that natural?) (5)if vegetarianism is fatal, why aren't we all dead?
imaginationunreal 1 year ago
Okay,
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@imaginationunreal Okay, 1. YES we do have incisors that "animals have", why do you think they are called INCISORS!? And our teeth structure matches that of chimps. 2. Our digestive system DOES "easily" digest meat. ALL FOOD "taxes our system" causing bloodflow to the stomach... duh. This putrification of bowels is NONSENSE.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@herbiethebarber Uh...they're called incisors, but we don't have the SAME incisors as animals, i.e. designed for tearing flesh. And chimps are VEGETARIAN. And for the record, our large intestines are NOT the same as any animal (they're much longer), therefore taking more time for meat to pass EASILY (as oppose to say fruits or vegetables which take significantly shorter time). God, you're an idiot.
imaginationunreal 1 year ago
@imaginationunreal Incisors ARE incisors... DUMBASS! "The maxillary central incisor is a human tooth in the front upper jaw, or maxilla, and is usually the most visible of all teeth in the mouth. . As with ALL incisors, their function is for shearing or cutting food during mastication (chewing)" Now please deny this.... I bet you will
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@imaginationunreal ALL primates have 12 incisors, used for SHEARING!!!! Hmm.. It seems to me that we wouldn't need those if we ate lettuce all day...
Also, meat DOES NOT take longer to pass through the colon.. this is BULLSHIT. Meat DOES NOT get "clogged" anymore than fruit does, in your intestines. Now, it does stay longer in your stomach.. of course, because it takes longer for all of the wonderful (lol) nutrition to break down.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
Meat, in moderation (just like any other food) provides us with many required essentials. It is arguably the best source of protein there is. Please explain this "putrifying of the bowels" I'm curious what you mean. I hope you don't think that meat gets stuck in our bowels... etc... If so please refer to Penn & Tellers "Bullshit" episode on "cleansing", they say it best.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
It doesn't matter what my opinion is, or what yours is; the bottomline is we are what we are.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@imaginationunreal 4. "Humans have to cook meat" yet another piece of nonsense. We cook our food for safety and taste. We don't HAVE TO, and early hominids obviously did not cook their food... duh!
5. Eating an uhealthy diet (extreeemely unhealthy if you eat absolutely no meat at all) can cause death. Denying this, again, is absurd.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@herbiethebarber You contradict yourself: "We cook our food for safety...", then say "We don't HAVE TO." Duh, safety??? That's the POINT moron. You don't eat it raw because of parasites etc. And again, if eating a vegetarian diet is fatal , then how do vegetarians live such long and healthy lives? Your arguments are absurd. The more important question is: Why are you even here if you have such a hang-up about vegetarianism? Eat your meat, clog up your arteries and your colon. You're hopeless.
imaginationunreal 1 year ago
@imaginationunreal DUH we don't HAVE TO do things safely... DUH! You unhealthy, pale, skinny, peon vegetarians make me sick. AGAIN! I NEVER said being a vegetarian is fatal. I said it is unhealthy, and IT IS. NAME ONE athlete who is THE BEST at what they do that is a vegetarian. Let's see you have hundreds of sports to choose from, can you name ONE person? Good luck.
herbiethebarber 1 year ago
@Suthenboy I do the actual research, it's called Anthropology.
Pre-humans were actually scavengers, they ate whatever they could get their hands on be it meat or no. At some point one of our early ancestors realized that the bones of a scavenged kill contained edible material that other animals couldn't get to which was the marrow.
n0s1r 1 year ago
The lovely brains we display today are a product of the fact that we had access to so much protein (from the marrow) while at the same time we had to puzzle out ways to get to the marrow. All of the work cracking open bones naturally led to a lot of injuries from shards of pointy bone which led us to our next epiphany... We could use those bone pieces to bring down our own game which lead to more protein (meat) and more thinking (tracking) and on and on and on.
n0s1r 1 year ago
I hate to break it to you, but the development and survival of our species was pretty much hinged on the consumption of meat. So much so that we developed hunting tools and tactics LONG before we developed agriculture.
n0s1r 1 year ago
@n0s1r Cite your sources, please. Oh, that's right, you're just pulling this information out of your ass. There is nothing special about animal protein. A person can get all the protein they need from non-animal based sources. If we NEEDED animal protein for our brains to grow, then those who are raised vegan from birth would all be invalids.
FM897 1 year ago
@FM897 Ok... Wow... Um... Obviously you have never taken an anthropology class... It's basic anthropology... As in, such common knowledge that there really isn't a source... But uh... I suppose I could state... Any anthropology textbook as a source... Or honestly... You could just Google it...
This information obviously destroyed your argument so thoroughly your only option was to resort to ad hominem attacks... Not only did you just fail Anthropology, you just failed debate as well...
n0s1r 1 year ago
@n0s1r Hunting was essential to our brain development though. Because of its high calorie content, it would sustain our ancestors for longer and they could focus on other activities aside from hunting, such as social interaction, resulting in brain development.
FM897 1 year ago
@FM897 actually... Again.. No... Hunter/Gatherers were always on the move following the game and heading to areas with large amount of fruiting plants... The great leaps in social interaction formed with the advent of agriculture...
To make a simple illustration for you the process went...
Marrow ---> Brain Development/Tools ---> Meat ---> Brain Development/Agriculture ---> Civilization.
We really haven't made much progress since then, we just have niftier tools now.
n0s1r 1 year ago
If it's unnatural to not eat why does she look so damn good?
capricious71 2 years ago
Because she uses supplements to make up for her lack of meat, and she wears A LOT of make up. The fact is she would be much healthier if she ate meat in moderation. Her body would be much better of, and she would live longer; actually she would live PERIOD; because without her "meat" pills, she would die.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
What supplements is she taking then?
I've been a vegetarian for 15 years. I haven't had a day off work ill in 3 years. I run marathons. I'm told I look very well.
I agree you can be healthy eating meat. You can also be healthy not eating it.
I'm not trying persuade you to be vegetarian; each to their own.
capricious71 2 years ago
I'm not a veg' so I don't know.
Human beings are Omnivores, to you agree or disagree with this fact?
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
I can't really disagree with a fact. :) We are omnivores, which means we can eat what we like, which includes choosing not to eat meat. I've thought about this many times and I just couldn't eat meat but I really don't have a problem with people who do. Just as long as those that do realise that God or Mother Nature has given us a choice. Only problem with eating meat is that something with intelligence and a brain and a desire to live, like you or I, has to die. I don't feel good about that.
capricious71 2 years ago
Yes, we are omnivores, BUT the definition of omnivore has NOTHING to do with "CHOICE".
"Omnivores are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source."
Can you tell me 1 other species which can choose to be vegetarian? Nope.
This "problem" you say is what life has been about for billions of years, some must die for others to live. That's what being a predator is all about.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
Oh dear, this really is an issue for you isn't it?
So you're a predator are you? So you got out and kill all the food you eat? Or did you just go to the supermarket?
We do have choice. You choose to eat a dirty, rotting body of an animal, which is baffling to me. I choose not to, which is equally baffling to you.
Your turn.
capricious71 2 years ago
Does a cat have a "choice" to eat lettuce? LOL You are a fool if you think that we are not OMNIVORES. Look at my comment below for the definition. Take note of the word PRIMARY. LOL
You are a predator, whether you accept this or not. Yes, you are "hunting" at the supermarket. Absolutely! Your grocery cart is your gun. LOL
The bottom line is WE ARE OMNIVORES, which means we EAT MEAT. Not by choice, but by need to survive. Dirty rottin stinkin? Meat smells great! Mmm.. Steak!
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
We need meat to survive? How is it that all vegans don't just fall down dead after a month or two? How is it that they live LONGER on average?
FM897 2 years ago
I don't mind people being healthy, but please admit, we are meat eaters.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
Comment removed
FM897 2 years ago
The thing is, there is NO evidence that we are herbivores... NONE. This is where we disagree. We ARE OMNIVORES, this IS NOT an opinion, not mine, and obviously not yours. Again, I think that people who are healthy and do not eat meat are not crazy, BUT to claim that we are not meat eaters is comparable to giving a CAT the same supplements, and saying "See look! he lived! so he's a vegan and an herbivore!" I'm sorry, but the reality is we ARE primates, we ARE meat eaters. No opinions here.
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
I'm sorry I didn't explain myself well. There is no debating that we've been eating meat for thousands of years. In that respect, we are omnivores. The question is, do humans function the best on an omnivorous diet? The answer is no. If you look at the structure of the human body in relation to carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores, the human design is essentially herbivorous. Our bodies are the most efficient when they're running on plant-based fuel. That is our optimal diet.
FM897 2 years ago
So first you admit we are omnivores THEN you tell me why we are not. Either we ARE or ARE NOT meat eaters.
Simply said, everything that you just wrote is flat out wrong.
Vegetarianism is unhealthy. Vegetarians, in general, have poorer health than everyone else. Meat protein is the highest quality protein. Without meat protein, it IS possible to subsist only on vegetable protein if you know what you are doing (most do not) but you will never be as healthy as someone who eats meat.
FACTS
herbiethebarber 2 years ago
Please, show me some studies NOT payed for by the meat and dairy industry that show that people who eat meat are healthier. I'd love to look them over.
FM897 2 years ago 5
Please show me studies not biased towards vegetarians. I can hold my breath, it doesn't mean I don't need air.
The bottom-line is WE ARE MEAT EATERS, not by choice, but because we are simply OMNIVOROUS. Please tell me why we are not.

YES!
herbiethebarber 2 years ago

FM897 2 years ago 9
Choosing to do something TOTALLY UNNATURAL is extreme. It's similar to saying "I don't need sleep, see I can go without it!" It's really that absurd. We ARE hunters! Denying this is soooo ridiculous. As I've said before, give a cat nothing but lettuce and see what happens.

FM897 1 year ago

No?

@n0s1r Nice takedown!

@FM897 Perhaps we should educate lions not to eat meat and give them rubber teeth? Humans are the scum of the earth, if we weren't here the planet would be better off without us.
MickeyLove01 1 year ago
@MickeyLove01 I completely agree that the planet would be better off without us. Although, humans are the only ones with the know how to, for instance, stop an asteroid from hitting the Earth. So in that way, we are very valuable.
FM897 1 year ago
@FM897 Not really, the earth managed fine without us last time.
MickeyLove01 1 year ago
@MickeyLove01 You're right; the EARTH did manage last time. LIFE on Earth did not, however.

@FM897 We weren't there, but millions of years later we developed like some virus that won't go away. Here's one for you then;
Apart from attempting to "correct" damamge already done, what has the human race ever done for this planet?
MickeyLove01 1 year ago
@MickeyLove01 The point that I made earlier was that at this time, we are the only species with the capability to stop some kind of moving body in space from colliding with the Earth. But other than that, I don't see any other potential benefit of humans.

@herbiethebarber as humans we require ethics
thats an allusion not only to animal abuse in factory farms but over farming agriculture and the amount of grain required to produce an ounce of meat vs environmental usage and destruction
unless of course we are going to reverse world population
