@leignheart have you ever opened up your blocks to clean it? Also it depends on the cleaning regiment. Generally with dyes you have to do it with 3 months.
Go to a Jewlers and ask to buy some silver (you only need a couple grams at most), or just get a "KillCoil". Silver is an Antimicrobial, and will kill anything in the water. If you are using distilled water (which is normally non-conductive of electricity) it will become conductive over time as the particulate from the silver mixes with the water.
@gmodfanforlife132 You sir, are fucking retarded. Most enthusiasts use watercooling and 90% of the time there are NO leaks. Also, you can unplug the 24pin and take a paper clip, bend it open and plug one end into where the Green wire is and then the other to any black wire. ..if you're that worried about it
I used this video and part A as a guide line to do my first water cooling build, the only difference is I used a res, and not a T line. I was set on after market air coolers until I saw these two videos and saw how easy it was to run a water cooling loop in your pc. I have my phenom II 965 x4 running at 4.0ghz on a single 120mm rad at 40c idle, and never goes above 50 under load while playing games. thanks for the great vids linus.

@ZARYN007 Use compression fittings. :) I installed my water cooling a month ago, took some modifying on the chassi, but installing it was a lot of fun. 5870 furmarks at ~40c. :-) Go for it!
@pinpinerik as soon as water goes into your loop it will become conductive as it picks up ions from the metals in the loop. as well if you have a dusty board it will become conductive by the dust.
@bososz I've NEVER leak tested. I use common sense also. Yes, I've had small leaks. Not saying anyone shouldnt. @vDubrivation you have to remove all the plugs from the motherboard, video card(s), hdd's, etc first. then take the 20/24 pin plug and take a paper clip or wire, etc. and jump the green wire with any of the black wires. this will tell the power supply to turn on letting you power up your pump.

Leaks... big deal... use distilled water... it's NON-CONDUCTIVE! A lot of people don't realize that. I've never leak tested a system prior to installing it in my life. I've also never had any leaks in my life. Then again I only ever use tygon tubing, barbs (with teflon tape on the threads), and nylon clamps.

@TheDaedalEVE .... Distilled water will pick up ions from the copper blocks in your loop, so after some time it will be conductive. WIth that said.. distilled + silver/PT is still much better than the pre-mixed crap you can buy.
Well, sort of. It's not true ionization (there is no voltage present, so they are not really acting as anodes), but impingement damage (which is pretty similar). The overall point is that you will pickup whatever is in the system (copper, brass, silver, etc) and the fluid will become electrically conductive (pretty quickly in fact).
I personally like using distilled water mixed with "water wetter".
so dumb just fill up your reservoir. turn ur pump on. contunie doin so til ur whole system(res/tubing are filled) then just keep the pump on and the bubbles will slowly go away... maybe couple hours and all bubbles will be gone :)
water cooling is much better. you get better temeprature's of it and its more silent then a simple fan + it looks much better :P + you can overclock the shit out of it this way :)
If there's any dust on your PCB board then it doesn't matter how anti-conductive it is, the electricity can/maybe will run through the dust particles which are conductive, and insta-pop your computer.
well obv but unless youre an enthusiast and have custom built your pc (where you'd know what you were doing in any case)...you shouldnt be messing with this stuff
i was thinking of getting water cooling my computer sounds like an aeroplane at night. Im just scared of it leaking and spliing all over the hardware. I would need it to cool the gpu and hd too... i would also want a version without any fan.
I really wouldnt recommend any kits, why? Because they perform mostly just as good, as an high-end air cooler. Just search for the right part if you try wc, it will be much better.
Probably true, however at higher temps LCS have better heat dissipation than air, and also give the benefit of silent operations. For average, typical computers that A: Don't overclock, or B: Run fairly cool as is, no I don't see the need for liquid cooling unless of course, you just want one.
I don't know any water cooling setups without fans except for those oil submerged systems built inside fish tanks. You're going to need a fan or 2 mounted on the radiator.
Maybe you should look into that sealed water cooling kit made by Corsair since it is around the same price as a good air cooler.
i would rather have a reservoir that has a fill port. so i would make a hole in the top of the case, instal an after markert fill port, run a tube from the fill port to the one in the reservoir. so when ever i need to add more coolant or uv die i just unscrew a cap and pour the shit in.
You do not need to make any hole. When installing you will only need to setup your tubing which is easy... Then screwing the tubes in with a nut or w/e...
i met a chemical engineer for a company that manufactures microprocessor cooling solutions and he turned me onto thermal- electric cooling which is just as effective or better than water cooling w/o this hassle or maintenance, no bs
he heated up a heatsink too hot to touch and used thermal electric cooling and the bottom of it turned damn near freezing !!
TEC's come with great temperature controllers, they're amazing !
Yes very good cooling indeed but beware cooling your cpu below room temp will cause condensation. Make sure you have a control unit to monitor cpu temp.
ive overclocked an e6400 2.1ghz to 3.2, set voltage to auto and OCed by raising the fsb. using water, max temps are at 38-40. but i can go any higher - is this the limit?
what you can do is first disable cpu spread spectrum then put the vcore a bit higher say 1.48 v then reboot see if it works under the current 3.2ghz then go higher by 1 @ the fsb it could also be that you reached not the max core freq but the fsb limit depending on wich chipset / motherboard you have offcourse
Air cooling is ok while you got the overclocking type of case. If you run lowend components even better than this complicated stuff. I had one myself but the radiator was so loud that I was happy when the pump stopped working so I took it all out and returned. Bought Hyper 48, got some leftover money for a burger running a bit higher temp than with the cheaper watercooling systems on the market.
I had that case, it was a piece of shit, i hated my old antec sonata

The overall point is that you will pickup whatever is in the system (copper, brass, silver, etc) and the fluid will become electrically conductive (pretty quickly in fact).
I personally like using distilled water mixed with "water wetter".

its much better to get an external power supply so u can turn the pump on with out turning the pc on so u can get the air out
UberCuba 2 years ago
Resivor pump combos are WAY easier, like you dont understand its so easy you should buy one
nVidiaPowah 2 years ago
so dumb just fill up your reservoir. turn ur pump on. contunie doin so til ur whole system(res/tubing are filled) then just keep the pump on and the bubbles will slowly go away... maybe couple hours and all bubbles will be gone :)
matt61234666 2 years ago
he doesn't use a reservoir...

Better use fan
HafizM6 2 years ago 3
not if you are gonna overclock the shit out of it
robojot 2 years ago 3
water cooling is much better. you get better temeprature's of it and its more silent then a simple fan + it looks much better :P + you can overclock the shit out of it this way :)
Saintdog000 2 years ago 2
i agree, its simpiler than this and its much safer than any watercooling system. If it leaks. All your components in danger
frazel999 2 years ago
not if you get the anti conductive solution :)
LeeSmellyFingers 2 years ago
No such thing, its just a gimmick fesser and other companies use.
xxmtgxx 2 years ago
If there's any dust on your PCB board then it doesn't matter how anti-conductive it is, the electricity can/maybe will run through the dust particles which are conductive, and insta-pop your computer.
InvokeZero 2 years ago
It's not "anti conductive" its "low conductivity"
ShadowRayzzz 2 years ago
so if it leaks it can still mess up my computer.

well obv but unless youre an enthusiast and have custom built your pc (where you'd know what you were doing in any case)...you shouldnt be messing with this stuff

no, there non-conductive coolant now.

i was thinking of getting water cooling my computer sounds like an aeroplane at night. Im just scared of it leaking and spliing all over the hardware. I would need it to cool the gpu and hd too... i would also want a version without any fan.
dale456654 2 years ago
it wouldn't cool without a fan and it shouldn't leak and if it does if you use a coolant that doesn't short circuit it shouldn't do anything
gangstachief2008 2 years ago
they have water cooling kits that cool the vid card but i omly seen it in youtube vids
xstr33tr4cerx 2 years ago
@xstr33tr4cerx
I really wouldnt recommend any kits, why? Because they perform mostly just as good, as an high-end air cooler. Just search for the right part if you try wc, it will be much better.
Look google/yahoo/bing for some reviews
N1mro8 2 years ago
Probably true, however at higher temps LCS have better heat dissipation than air, and also give the benefit of silent operations. For average, typical computers that A: Don't overclock, or B: Run fairly cool as is, no I don't see the need for liquid cooling unless of course, you just want one.
InvokeZero 2 years ago
I don't know any water cooling setups without fans except for those oil submerged systems built inside fish tanks. You're going to need a fan or 2 mounted on the radiator.
Maybe you should look into that sealed water cooling kit made by Corsair since it is around the same price as a good air cooler.

i would rather have a reservoir that has a fill port. so i would make a hole in the top of the case, instal an after markert fill port, run a tube from the fill port to the one in the reservoir. so when ever i need to add more coolant or uv die i just unscrew a cap and pour the shit in.
Vlad1293 2 years ago 2
That's what I will do
2pac591 2 years ago
Personally, I hate T-lines. I'd much prefer a reservoir. I speak only for myself though.
DaemonAnt 2 years ago 9
Yep i find a resevoir easier to manage.
fly4fun123 2 years ago
you can install a fillport on the bottom to drain it again. ;)
TakeMeDown2FunkyT0wn 2 years ago
You mean a fillport instead of a reservoir...
TakeMeDown2FunkyT0wn 2 years ago
T-line means no reservoir and a fillport instead.
DaemonAnt 2 years ago
i also like it better if you have a clear tube witch has a led in it it is verry nice with uv reaction
vinny4punt0 2 years ago

Make sure you have a control unit to monitor cpu temp.
protocol2048 2 years ago 2
Water cooling uses ALOT less power than a TEC, TEC's are very inefficient, which is why only a very small amount of people use them.

ive overclocked an e6400 2.1ghz to 3.2, set voltage to auto and OCed by raising the fsb. using water, max temps are at 38-40. but i can go any higher - is this the limit?
LizzyAston 2 years ago
lizzy you usually have to raise core voltage to get to the limit
juice797 2 years ago 2
ive OCed to 3.2 stable, but any higher and it becomes unstable. the problem is that even if i manually raise the voltage, CPU-z still reports 1.464v.
? i cant go any higher than 3.2
LizzyAston 2 years ago
what you can do is first disable cpu spread spectrum then put the vcore a bit higher say 1.48 v then reboot see if it works under the current 3.2ghz then go higher by 1 @ the fsb it could also be that you reached not the max core freq but the fsb limit depending on wich chipset / motherboard you have offcourse
tqrules 2 years ago
Air cooling is ok while you got the overclocking type of case. If you run lowend components even better than this complicated stuff. I had one myself but the radiator was so loud that I was happy when the pump stopped working so I took it all out and returned. Bought Hyper 48, got some leftover money for a burger running a bit higher temp than with the cheaper watercooling systems on the market.
