  • Mound of Sound is indeed greater than the Cake formation.

  • WVU does the same thing when they play "Simple Gifts"

  • Mound of Sound > Cake Formation

  • "scotty b and his blue band". love that guy. marched under him in the scouts in '05.

  • is anybody actually in michigan college thats watching this

  • the cake is a lie! D:

  • Once again, this why University of Michigan pwns Michigan and Ohio State.

  • I lol'ed when I read "The cake formation"

  • just like minnesota mound of sound

  • Even though I am a Buckeye, I still can appreciate something original and FUN!!!!

I like how the crowd gets excited!!!!

  • I'm sorry. Have you actually seen the Spartan Pre-Game? Much more intense and energetic than the OSU or U of M pregame. :/ Sorry guys.

  • It must be cool being in the middle of all the members, yet very awkward.

  • @JShawtyKim i think the tubas are in the middle only...

  • That's as dumb as Minnesota. Try marching with the Wisconsin band!

  • More like a bunch of fruit cakes!!! Go Buckeyes!! Get a real band Michigan!!

  • @nbkvhha LOL the buckeyes band...where to start? it takes 5 minutes for you dumbasses to spell out OHIO, another minute to put a tuba on the I, and then he bends over so someone can put it in his ass. talk about fruitcakes...

  • @Cjmoney007 All IN for MICHIGAN!

  • @AlieshaMccLellan especially the way they played yesterday. 113 thousand + fans screaming. best day of my life

  • Cheerleaders cant do that at once >:D bwahahaha

  • Hmmm... seems kinda pointless, but still cool

  • personally, as a trumpet player, you go deaf probably about the first three weeks, but eventually your hearing gets back and you get use to it. LOLZ

  • my ears are really used to it. but you can get earplugs that only let in a certain amount of decibals.

  • how do those brass people not blow out each others ears being so close to each other???

  • You do blow out other's ears. You get used to it pretty fast.

  • Lol man that sucks.

  • I play first part trumpet, and I'm not going to lie, it's pretty intense sometimes, haha. But I think it's the same way percussionists handle it, just a little differently ha.

  • hahaha hats off to you guys for being so bad ass lol

  • Hahaha. *Bows*

  • We, percussionists, are required to wear ear plugs. When I marched at UAB, we would not be allowed to play that day, until we had ear plugs...Because it is so hazardous to your ears. That is why in-ears are so popular today, in concerts, as opposed to monitors...

  • @basecaster

Yeah. Same for our band. Our percussionists had to wear ear plugs as well.

  • i was there too i was so happy they did this

  • i was there

  • They did this at the Purdue game this past saturday, it was awesome!

  • I like the flag in the middle.

  • awesome. when are they doing it this season?

  • im in this video!!

  • They're gophers.

  • must feel good 2 graduate from a known D1

  • LOVE IT!

Does the song the play have a real title? If so, what is it?

I love it, so catchy. Lol.

  • It's called I Can't Turn You Loose by The Blues Brothers.

  • I Can't Turn You Loose by Otis Redding.

  • Watch the Blues Brothers. Quite possibly the best movie ever. Its in there a ton of times.

  • I remember going to this game

  • This made my day haha

  • The only Michigan game I've ever been to, they did the cake formation, and I got pictures. I was so excited.

  • that is so cool!!!!!

  • tinytim.... we only do the cake once a year at our homecoming game.... and yes its a blast to be part of the michigan marching band

  • Why did the band stop doing thei in their pre games?

  • They didn't. The band does this once a year, usually in one of the last two home games.

  • lol

that would be SO fun to be in that band

you get to do so much fun stuff :(

  • go screw your dog.

  • he'll get to it after he finishes with the sheep

  • Actually it's just called "the cake." All 235 members must fit within a 10 yard spread, and they're all playing once they're there.

  • Great formation. It's called "The Birthday Cake."

  • Ah, so thats what its called. Thanks.

  • minnesota does this and we call it the "mound of sound."

  • @gsbadj Typically we just call it "The Cake" now.
