I'm surprised people didn't like the film, and I mean like outright hated it. I saw the film as an extension of the cartoon series, and lets forget that this film had a comparatively small budget compared to most blockbusters. That being said the fact they achieved what they did visually withe film is nuckin futs, and as a film maker myself, you'd be stupid not to see this film for what it is. A simple, slightly cliche story, well told with pretty decent actors and redonkulous visuals. Props.

@benzlover55 I loved that movie. :< I really wish the Wachowski Bros. would do more movies based on cartoon properties. Especially movies based on 60s anime. Or even later in to the 80s. If only they had gotten their hands on Dragonball instead of whoever it was that made DB:EVOLUTIONS, a movie that makes the original Japanese live-actions films (see Dragonball the magic begins) look like Doctor Zhivago.

@PH03N1XM4N Not this one, they overhauled it completely and they did a terrible job of it. Plus, when I saw the movie, I found it boring. And it's not just me, it was not received well by critics or by Smosh.

The movie was Spy-Kids meets Fast & the Furious as directed by Sam Raimi. I came out of the theater in a daze. But I've come to love this flick. Luna124--I also have that CD. The music here ROCKS, but the singing is aweful. My Dream cartoon song covers are both for SMASHMOUTH to do versions of Spider-Man(not like the o.k. version by the otherwise great Aerosmith) and of course, Speed Racer. Both would be SLAMMIN'!!!

@Velocity9s I can understand the daze. I didn't see it in theaters but the first time I saw I had no idea what to think of it. I couldn't say it was bad but I didn't exactly like it cause it wasn't what I pictured speed racer being. Still I saw it often and each time I liked it just a tiny bit more. And it was one of those few movies I could see often without being bored.

I twas a long time ago but I remember that the engine was so powerful you had to take a drug to drive it, and the drug had a weird side effect that made the racer afriad of speed without. That is if we're both thinking of the same episode. Drugs in a sport to improve performance... the show was ahead of its time I guess.

My guess is you're thinking about this engine/car when you think about a fast engine Pop's develops cause this one is buried but not created by pops. I could be wrong cause I don't remember that specifically. I can't confirm it but Hulu has the episode free to watch.

Okay really guys, I like rock as much as the next guy, but this doesn't even have a tune to it. By far the worst version of this song as far as I've heard. Wanna hear a GOOD version? Go listen to the one Stan Bush did. THAT'S music. This isn't a good Speed Racer theme, period. Just...No. The tune isn't there, the singer sounds offkey for the notes that are even remotely close to the original...just no.

I remember first hearing this song years ago, on a CD called "Saturday Morning Cartoons" where a bunch of famous artists/ bands did a cover song for old style cartoons. Think that Sublime did Hong Kong Fuuie(?). But this was the best song out of the whole CD. So take it for what it's worth, cause it could be worse.
