  • Damn that drummer is very creative!

  • fucking lame

  • 6:35 guy behind deantoni :)

  • I'm glad I'm not the only drummer who makes awkward faces and positions when playing.

  • 1:00 he's having a seizure

  • Hello, is there a dvd please?

Many much lisergic thank yous. Please.

  • they should just rename the band as Deantoni Parks Group

  • 06:03

2 dollars for earplugs? what a rip off!

  • When did Mitt Romney start playing bass for the Omar Rodiguez Lopez Group?

  • Pause at 6:37. Kid behind Deantoni went full retarded watching Omar play..

  • watched this to check out the new TMV drummer, very excited for their new album. He brings me back to the jon theodore days for sure! He seems to use really short sticks though and has terrible posture hahah, considering how god damn good he is on this track

  • @KokotheJugDrummer Yeah man, I agree. Pridgen and the rest probably trump theodore and Parks in the technique department but these two just oooze style and are so good to watch.

  • everyone keeps an eye on omar for the cues, but i sweat he does shit on purpose sometimes to fuck with em

  • Verlos en vivo en Panamá hace 2 días fue un verdadero privilegio. finalmente música en vivo en el 3er mundo...

  • imagine writing the drum tabs to that...

  • nice cinerg reminds meof yes rely sweet

  • Juan Alderte seems to suffer so badly, haha

  • 2:53 - 2:59 -> dude i pis*sed in my pants.

  • I don't get it

  • I detect a hint of black flag tension @ 30 seconds

  • thats some good fucking noise

  • deatoni parks is the freaking man but he looks really scary and mean

  • @Bassmastasnake33 He looks SEXY

  • This gives rest to my fears of the music being put out today. Thank you

  • when i think that the bass player played in a pop-metal band...

    he is so awesome!

  • haha at the end it looks like omar says 'right now?' 'stop?' 'whaat?'

    aww man

  • ive watched this so many times that beep alone has probably destroyed my fucking eardrums

  • THIS IS SICK

  • Nice! Music while tripping...or relax/

    search for KubikSahara - SYNCHBORDER

    thanks!

  • for whatever reason this makes me think of late Miles Davis

  • This is the 100000th time I listened to this. And it does NOT get old. Every time I listen to it, my mind orgasms and I hear new stuff everytime I listen to it. This exceeds perfection!

  • so much skill! all around.

  • Great Music!

search for KubikSahara - One Idea One (dark/headpones)

    thank you.

  • I love how Juan can just vamp that line the whole time without messing up or going off beat haha that's so awesome

  • got a hint of drum n bass....kid 606...meets ELP.

  • It is a phenomenal concept that in order to play music with Omar, the caliber of your talent has to be transcendent. Your skill has to be impeccable.

  • Deantoni is a fucking WARRIOR in this clip! Damn! What's the song called by the way?

  • @Bruinsmamusic look it the top comments, it's from a live album

  • Fack! Deantoni is awesome!

  • haha the guy in the crowd at 6:38

  • @pizzaROX That's KassemG!

    lol jk :)

  • Omar is my Dream Guy <3

  • This is... this is really good. I'm no musician, but I know this is really good, and I don't need to explain the why to anyone. It should be self evident.

  • Deantoni's fills remind me a lot of Bonham's crazy triplet fills.

  • @VismundCygnus6 so he's the new tmv drummer, eh? looks like they're looking for a theodore stand in, imo

  • @cuilo please explain

  • @maickhaaa well, theodore left, then they've had like 3 or 4 drummers since then... and this one sounds a bit like theodore. also meant to say that theodore is tmv's quintessential drummer - all others are temporary 'til he gets back :P i guess pridgen showed another side of tmv as well... i liked him too. bedlam in goliath and octahedron are unique albums in their own right

  • reminds me of King Crimson

  • @Kozlen yes thats what I figured but remembering when to change tempo/timing would be difficult for an hour long set with songs that have almost no lyrics to help you with que's

  • @ahance24 Omar sometimes uses hand signals or other signals to let them know how many measures they have to do before the next part of the song comes,

    i think

  • ummm how do you remember how to play all of these songs in one set lol

  • @ahance24 they remember the essential parts of the song, then they just improvise on top of the basic structure of the song

  • Poor Juan! He has to find the one in this mess of polyrhythms that Omar and Deantoni have created around 5:30, 6.

  • 6:30-7:00 totally made me jizz in my pants...

  • Does anyone know if any of this stuff is recorded and available to buy on any format?

  • @philipkolbo check the description

  • @TheConditionedHuman I mean these specific songs on these black and white sessions. Because I have a lot of albums including telestions and can't find these pieces.

  • @philipkolbo Its called, 'My horror is in Park, Drive Me Away Troubled Heart' and is from the album 'どういたしまして'. Click on the link in the description and its the 3rd album on the page!

  • It sounds like Of Montreal dying in a car crash.

  • New Mars Volta album this coming year? Deantoni Parks on drums? FTW!

  • Great music from Omar and the band! :)

    search for video...

KubikSahara - The Flower Have Grown

  • kid's face 2:55

  • wow 3:37-3:47 i cant even comprehend what the hell he is doing!!! AMAZING!

  • The ultimate rhythm warior god. prepare to be splintered into inspiration. you will be overtaken

  • I'm going to delude myself and believe that this actually took place in black and white, because I feel like that makes the atmosphere of these particular musical events just that much more awesome.

  • My hat goes off to the bass player. It must be a bitch to keep up with the drummer

  • @dirt0jumping Juan Alderete is sick, he can keep up with anyone haha :D

  • @dirt0jumping juan alderente. massive player.

  • @dirt0jumping no shit man!

  • @dirt0jumping Juan's a beast, he doesn't need to worry ;)

  • @dirt0jumping You realize Juan Alderte is one of the greatest bassists ever and if you want to argue then listen to Racer X the band he came from....Easily one of the greatest metal Bass players ever

  • @dirt0jumping Juan Alderete is no slouch.

  • I know Im going to catch flax for this however music in my little nonconsequencial opinion is good if the audience is moving and dancing. Even the most out there music can be appreciated if it moves the people however these kids looked bored. Not fucked up but bored

  • @juddgreg333 Eh, maybe they're just boring people; I'd be shaking my pale ass off if I was there!

  • drummer is so great!! song is great too!

  • boring, interesing drumming, that's all. Omar is kinda overrated, and this kind of stuffs it's not new. Guys, u have to back to the roots, seriously. And I'm a fan from the first era from The Mars Volta.

  • @Sasox Boring are you serious lol. this is far from boring they are all very talented

  • This drummer is so in the pocket it's insane!

  • haha that bassist must be bored as fuck and stressed as hell trying to keep up with parks at the same time.

  • @crenshawjeffrey i'd be stressed having Omar whip me with a lash everytime i got my notes wrong.(if i were in the band) hah.

  • the drummer looks like marquise preston from emerica.

  • buena canción Para un viaje, bien loko. e ejjejejeje recomendado. ejejej

  • My Horror is in Park, Drive Me Away Troubled Heart

  • My face now: 6:36, dude to the left of the drummer.

  • for a 4/4 time this the most far out thing i ever heard in my life.

    with Deantoni less is more.

  • Incredible drumming.

  • Just for everyone praising Jon Theodore so much, I used to be like you until I learned that a lot of his stuff on Deloused is based on stuff already done by Blake Fleming (original TMV drummer) like a lot of Eriatarka and Cicatriz.

Personally I think Theodore and Pridgen are both great, Bedlam is my second favourite album after Deloused, drumming on Metatron is perfect. I agree Pridgen can overplay though. Can't wait for their next album with this guy.

  • @YaHozna1 I found Theodore really shined when he played live. i seen the Volta in 06 in Montreal and Blake was playing for them. I was so sad i didn't get to see Jon play but it was still amazing.

  • orgasmic

  • wow! interesting drummer!

  • I was probably too high too realize how many cute girls were at this show.

  • omg this drumming is the shit

  • someone needs to upload this sheer awesomeness to megaupload, so we can download and watch on the tv.

Nothing happened to Mars Volta. They're touring and waiting for the label to release their new album. I don't think the label likes it. Its been finished for over 6 months and no word from Universal on when it's coming out

  • someone needs to upload this sheer awesomeness to megaupload, so we can download and watch on the tv

  • this is messy. Either way, whatever happened to "Mars Volta", did they break up?

  • Why haven't more people seen this? By far the sickest Omar vid on the net.

  • @icklebittymattykins Well, considering Jon Theodore was the best drummer for this band, I think what needs to be said is that this guy actually stands a chance of matching Theodore's work -- something Pridgen could technically do, but never had the musical ear to do.

  • @Bulldog22031 NO WAY Thomas Pridgen

  • @minstrel34 Well, its a matter of opinion. FWIW, you are in the 2% group of people who think Pridgen was better.

  • @Bulldog22031 well I dont remember TMV winning a grammy with theodore.... how ever they did with Thomas so I guess that means 98% of yaw don't no what the hell to think! lol

  • @minstrel34 So winning a Grammy makes you tallented? Barry Manilow, Milli Vanilli, Michael Bolton, Nelly, Hootie and the Blowfish, Britney Spears, and the Baha Men ALL have grammys.... Winning an award in the music industry doesnt mean jack shit.

  • @Bulldog22031 Oh No? ok well yea I can tell I'm talking to a nobody... so I'll allow you to finish this discussion alone.

  • @minstrel34 soooo you think all of those people deserved grammys???........ LMAO!!! AHhahahahahahahahaha

Go swoon to some "WHEN A MAAAAAN LOVES A WOMAN!!!" lol

  • @Bulldog22031 im with you at least on the grammy thing. Maynard James Keenan keeps his grammy on the toilet

  • @nathangray12 lol I didn't know that. Pretty funny.

  • @minstrel34 LOL LOL LOL

  • @Bulldog22031 Pridgen is better, in every facet of drumming: musicality, technicality, creativity. Whether or not he was a better fit for TMV is a different discussion.

  • @minstrel34 Also, Thomas Pridgen over played on EVERY song. Is he amazing? Absolutely! But I personally do not think his style was right for TMV

  • i love how much fun juan has when he's playing bass.

  • where does omar get his shirts? this one is fantastic!

  • its like hes speaking another language...

  • Whats the name of this song(s)?

  • @queero4242 MY HORROR IS IN PARK, DRIVE ME AWAY TROUBLED HEART

  • This show was the first show I'd ever been to. I'm happy to say Omar was my first! hahahaha.

  • I'm a HUGE Pridgen fan, but this is excellent.

  • Deantoni Parks looks retarded when he plays. Thomas Pridgen looks like he is having the time of his life when he plays! Thats what its all about!

  • @xTomei

And you don't think Deantoni is having the time of his life? Are you stupid?

  • @FuryoftheSound He looks like hes mad/in pain. How is that fun?

  • @xTomei

H's not in pain he's in the zone, a TON of musicians make weird faces when they play. I think it's called "Guitar face" or something

  • @xTomei

    this comment is retarded

  • there will never be a better drummer than theodore for mars volta.

He changed at the drive in to mars volta. Beats like the one from Eriatarka maked mars volta what they are.

  • @icklebittymattykins Deantoni was the mars voltas original drummer before T Pridgen. I took lessons with him at Drummers Collective in NYC, so believe it.

  • @raffiky Dude, Jon Theodore was the Volta's original drummer. Deantoni filled in between Theodore and Pridgen.

  • @FavioSanchezIII Yeah you're probably right, I think deantoni recommended pridgen anyways

  • @FavioSanchezIII Neither of you are right. Blake Fleming was there first, and alot of beats used by Theodore were actually his

  • Omar`s mind is the most compelling musical torrent I`ve ha the pleasure to experience in my short-spammed life. Long live el Nerdo de Bayamón!

  • any torrent/album available of this?

  • as much as i like pridgen i think deantoni is better suited to play omar's music, where's tmv's next album!! please!

  • if someone tell me "you can't express yourself playing drums" I'll show them this video!

  • Thomas Pridgen Sucks??? lets see

Won Guitar Center Drum-Off at 9

    Endorsed by Zildjian at 10

Recorded his 1st album when he was a kid

Scholarship to Berklee at 15.....you still thinks he sucks?

He has a lot gospel music influence thats why he goes off like that.

But Deantoni is a DOPE drummer nevertheless. just difference musical background influences

  • i don't understand why any of the orl group videos have any dislikes. wtf is there to dislike? it's like "pfft... these guys a way too talented"

  • I think if you go back and listen to the whole Volta catalog all the way through up until LP6, you will realize how important the drummers were to the sound of their respective albums. I think Octahedron was the only album that should've have a different drummer than it did, but regardless TP still works well with that era of their sound.

  • I'll say it again I think Omar found his Bonham.

But It's not nearly LOUD ENOUGH! You should be able to see everyones hair blowing in the wind. I wish i had bought Omars Ibanez delay pedal when I had the chance. :(

  • I think Omar does a fantastic job of choosing drummers. Pridgeon is amazing and was great on Bedlam. Parks, for this performance was incredible as well. He has amazing control over his reverb and echo. Especially in Poincare. Dios te Bendiga El Groupo Nuevo de Omar!

  • 3:21, when he breaks down the beat. It's just for a second, but that's the COOLEST SHIT EVER.

  • Pridgen's just fast. He always loses time live and isn't really that impressive. In my opinion, Deantoni makes him look like a bitch.

  • @N1O69 I've never heard Thomas lose time. He's always on top of his timing.

  • @icklebittymattykins i can't tell if your praising him, or dissing him... o.O

  • Parks > Pridgen.

  • Amazing drummer. But this is not possible to replace the touch of Thomas

  • the video will not load and pauses several times, it is now unwatchable very sad, please fix this!!! agggggh

  • it must suck for the bass because he plays the samthing from 2:50 all the way to 8:15

  • Myth Busters.

    AMAZING VIDEOOO

  • Esta cancion es el diablo caliente

  • @xminusblindfoldx And when I say ''CALIENTE'', I mean horney

  • Deantoni Parks Group!

  • They definitly have to make something with Mike Patton one day !

  • Deantoni Parks polyrhythms are where its at.

  • @chumanjames AGREED!

  • I am so glad that Deantoni is gonna be on the new Volta record. It's gonna be killer.

  • Drum God!

  • deantoni's cymbals have a big Letter "K" on them, I used to know what brand that was but cant recollect. I know someone was asking about the cymbals.

  • @jerrypeaks zildjian makes the K series

  • is that John Davis, the bassist from Jojo mayer's Nerve on the left at 4:25 ?

  • Does anybody have the link for this interview I keep hearing about? I'd be interested in reading it.

Side note: Deantoni has so much more technique and dynamic than Pridgen ever did.

  • @jseacat1010 Dynamic, ok, I'll give him that, but technique, nope, no way. You don't win the biggest drum competition in the world at age 9, become the youngest endorser of Zildjian cymbals in history, and the youngest person to receive a scholarship to Berklee School of Music at 15 without technique. Deantoni is very good, great even, but so is Thomas Pridgen. They just have two different styles of playing.

  • Omar said in an interview that he has been waiting to have Deantoni as a drummer for a long time just that he has been busy with other projects. According to him, pridgen was just a momentary place holder that served his purpose and left.

  • @fob199 Link?
