in the "original version" of 4:19 I hear distinctly at 0:55, just after his famous onomatopoeia ( that Michael Jackson has imitated for fun ) James saying "may be, it's because I'm from Augusta, Georgia" . But in the short video there are fewer words , I hear 6 syllables at 0:53, perhaps something like" I'm from Augusta town". Do these words are possible ?
Do you know when this Mike Douglas Show was filmed ? The vocal style seems slightly different, nearer of gospel perhaps.

In English now. I love very much this video, it’s his better rendition of Georgia, the most simple and moving . Thank you very much for posting ! Does somebody can translate for me me what he says at 0 : 53 ?
This is a much better arrangement than the one he changed it to around 1980.
Another example of how he could take someone else's song (Ray Charles is best known for this although he did not record it first either) and make it his own. I think this is the Mike Douglas Show?
Nah, this arrangement is much better. I actually had a better performance with this original arrangemnt, from the second Playboy After Dark Show he did, in 1970. But since I moved house just can't seem to find that dvd.

@IkeDyson71 - Do you prefer this one or the newer arrangement he used from about 1980 until he passed away?
