@stiven86 yes it was because he had to send the cue ball up to the other end of the table to get on the nine, and if you look closely youll see that he did he was just unlucky that the eight jumped back out otherwise he probably would have won the game

@brambaby The 8 ball wasn't the "goal". Two things factor into this shot going wrong. 1, if you look close, he's using a bridge. That adds a new variable into the shot. 2, when the black guy comes to the table you clearly see the 9 ball at the other end and the cue ball drifts slowly down for position on the 9. The 8 ball was sitting close to the pocket but almost straight in. He hit it harder because he didn't have much of an angle. He cheats the pocket a bit to help too. English spun it out

Hard plastic pockets can do that, the pocket was probably empty. On coin-op tables I've seen side pocket shots come back up the opposite side, but it is extremely rare.
