  • hmm, one thing is missi- 2:25 oh there it is.

  • At 0:50 he actually shot that poor guy in the dick!!!! 0_o

  • Awesome! Nothing more needs to be said :)

  • pistol ownage !

  • i cant feel any emotions in this clip its just "killings" this is just a copy

  • could someone please provide the pin yin for these lines at 1:20

in particular i can't catch the word for "respect" and after wu lun ru he, "must stop you"

  • Hammer geiles Video ich liebe John Woo filme und das echt ein guter kurz Film der dem Genre alle EHRE macht !!! einfach genial

  • Everything of scenes, cameraworks, actions can imitate John Woo style very well!!!

    You did fucking great job!!!!!

  • Too many resemblance. E.G. Face/Off (Airstrip runway),

ABT2 (Sucking lighter flame), Putting cigarette into mouth

behind lower lip (Jacky Wu Jing??), shooting inside hangar

between brothers (warehouse from Hardboiled). And 0:45

is an action from Fuqua's The Replacement Killers in a car

    wash.

My words aren't meant to squish your hardwork, but I prefer

you make use of Woo's elements, not just duplicating his

    past work. Slow-mo, righteousness, brotherhood's dignity &

    chivalry, that sorta things.

  • @imprezaver4 Everyone is reading into this too much. NOBODY can do John Woo movies better than John Woo. But his stuff is good enough to make imitators all around. Robert Rodriguez in DESPERADO and The Wachowski Bros in THE MATRIX worked their fan service in, but honestly, John Woo can only make John Woo movies. So everyone chill.

  • Freaking awesome!!!!

  • Awesome effects!

  • You should upload the extended version in HD.

  • You really should upload the HD version... this would look awesome in HD!

  • At 0:27 Thats My Uncle

  • if you like these gunshots, take a look to "Juste heroes"

  • This made no sense, but it is fucking awesome!

  • the action sequence is awesome but dude i seems to me a climax not a short film u shud've tried flashback or narration last shot was xtremely good luved ur work plzzz do let me now abt ur motive and intentions of making this film and plzz do tell me about urself as well ....... best of luck God Bless U

  • Action sequnce is awesome but it seems to be a climax sequence more then a short film you shud've developed it ...... like it flashback or narrative style i hope im making it clear plzz do reply if u agree or disagree ..... i must say it is brilliant work thumbs up ..... 1 thing im very keen to knw r u a professional or amature director?

  • The action is not bad but the absolute absence of sence and thought makes it too stupid, and shooting sequences in Mr. Woo`s has always been deeply emotional and thoughtful, although sometimes too naive! I wish you guys luck in understanding what Mr. Woo`s films are really about. If you need a good script with thought, violence, humor (which your short lacks) - you may contact me bakoom-att-yandex-dot-ru and I can offer you a good piece of action scipt!

  • matthew stratton is an awesome gun wrangler-great working with you man

  • sometimes....i forget to reload..

  • Was this filmed around Oakland Int. airport? Just wondering.... (It's in MI)

  • @jd080850 Yes, this short was filmed at OCIA, mainly at Alternative Avionics, in June of 2007.

  • just...wow

  • (continued)

In the finale, the brothers suddenly swapped guns, the one that is empty gets switched...

Regardless, you packed a very good ending into this, and for it's length, I really think this is a great entry.

  • Excellent stuff, but I'd still like to point out a few downsides... The "good guy's" friend was really kind of tossed away. You should have had some dialogue between them. When the asian one jumped in front of his friend, you give no explanation what the latter was doing.

Special effects were exceptional, guns were well picked, good nod to John Woo's work. I loved the ejection for the Colt Python, also used in lots of woo films.

Why were the MP5K's semi auto though? Why not full auto?

  • Would the director of this or anyone else happen to know the names or where I can find the other 9 entrys into the John Woo Stranglehold contest at? I would like to see those.

  • a bit redic

  • funny how the cobra cant even lock onto the bikes.

  • This shit is amazing! I think john woo should direct the next bond.

  • Totally! I'm surprised they haven't hired him for any of those yet. or maybe they asked him...

  • he gotta make more movies

  • WOW! 2:30 min. intensive thrill then in the most "action movie" at last time...

    a great short movie 5/5*

  • how did u get the apache, and how much did u spend on this amazingness?

  • It's a Cobra

  • damn didnt know that thaks for telling me. its a beast helicopter but my favorite would have to be either a huey or a black hawk

  • Very good.

  • Had to edit part of this for my editing 1 class at Columbia College Chicago. We didn't have all the shots though.

  • The school only was given a small portion of action footage from 2 scenes, specifically to use for an action editing exercise...I've never seen any cuts of what anyone did, would be interested to see yours!

  • Yeah, our instructor mentioned that there was more footage. I'll see what I can do about giving you a look at my cut. Wouldn't want to post it on YouTube or anything like that, but I could email it to you. If you'd like, send me a private message with a preferred way to get it to you.

  • what kind and how many cameras did you use for the entire short film?

  • 1 Sony F900 CineAlta HDCAM, 1 Panasonic Varicam, and 2 HVX200's. The 2 larger cameras were rented from a local rental house in MI (where we shot the movie), and the 2 HVX's were privately owned by friends.

  • Don't mean to ask alot of questions its just i'm interested in film directing. Why not use four of the same kind of cameras?

  • NiCE! GREATT!

  • Anyone who turns a pistol over on it's side to shoot is a nimrod.

The close quarter shooting hiding behind the tool racks reminded me of "Police Squad."

And the expository dialog didn't help.

But I give you props for getting a Cobra in your short film.

  • he's dying, he can shoot sideways

  • This is one of the best films i've seen on youtube...and im a huge john woo fan i mean he's my favorite director so you definately did your thing when it came to his style...keep up the good work bro..

  • Very nice ;)

  • that was sweet :O got more of those flying around over youtube?

  • Great !

  • Yes. Bellissimo ciao

  • how did you do the squibs did you use real ones

  • Yes they were also real, FX professional made and set them off, everyone had serious protection under their costumes...and yes, if you look closely at bad guy #3 who gets iced standing on the table, he does take a bullet to the nuts with a BIG squib lol

  • did they use real guns

  • Yes we used real guns, but they were specially modified by a professional gun wrangler to only fire theatrical blanks (which are still dangerous if used incorrectly). If you are going to film something like this, only do it with licensed special effects professionals helping you :-)

  • oh ok well great job you must have spent a ton of money on this movie, right now i use just airsoft guns without orange tips and i just get sound effects but still that movie was amazing

  • Thanks, we actually did not spend a ton of money on this short, it was dirt cheap for everything we did, you have to know how to budget for JUST what you need, nothing excessive, and get people excited about contributing for free or big favors instead of just spending and spending out of control. I used to use airsofts just like you, digitally adding in flashes frame by frame and using sound fx, hey that still can work really well lol :-)

  • lol yes. my video on here is not that good because i had to edit it on windows movie maker and my computer that has premier pro doesnt have an internet connection so i cannot put my good movies on there. how did you do the helicopter

  • oh i use body armor under the shirt then have a fire cracker with a little puch of blood it looks ok

  • @thesantabros45 Only problem with that is that you don't get the blowback or the case ejecting, you should invest in some blank firers

  • awesome video, love john woo films and this is true 2 him

  • Nice

  • Nailed it!

  • This was a good short film with some awesome fight scenes.

  • If its garbagbe how about u try to make a video like it?

  • awesome video keep up the good work gentlemen

  • zomfg! its steve Neslon!!! XD rofl

  • Okay, I gotta ask - how much did this freakin' thing cost? O_O

  • I'd like to know that too!

  • Liked everything but the Cobra. That seemed a tad too boyish. All that firepower on a vehicle that has the high advantage can't stop two sport bikes moving in front of it, sure, ok, whatever.

  • shoulda shot the bird too

  • Well-executed in general, quite nicely shot, good squibs and gun effects, but the geography of the shootout was confusing, and some of it seemed over-edited - maybe the five minute version fixes this?

  • where did the bird come from, he crawled out of the tarmac?? lol

  • CHARLES! That was fabulous!

  • Amazing! This is the best 'true to john woo' vid i've seen. I hope you guys won...

  • Good work, I'm sure Mr. Woo was impressed.

  • that sucked ass big time

  • imma have to admit

this only had a set+effects and the real reason it won was cause of the helicopter

    everything else sucked(including the action)

  • Great job!!! It had the kind of Spirit Johns Woo's movie have. Awesome Squibs too. The production value was incredible.

  • He should have shot that dove too

  • lol at the bird.

  • that was wasn't necessary

  • nothing in john woo movies are necessary!

  • I think Confucius said that once.

  • Never forget the pigeons...

  • Two words.....Hard Boiled.

  • Awesome short I am very impressed I loved the ending in the way he passes his gun very creative and using all of john woo's Technique and trademarks. Very good job.

  • fantastic!

  • really nice work.

  • Excellent.

  • Haha that was awesome, I would have guessed that John Woo had directed that.

  • i love this short film its well executed

  • This short is fucking unbelievable... it's amazing! I guess there was a decent budget there to work with. Good job.

  • that was so ridiculous.

    i loved it.

  • that was really good

  • I knew my entry had no chance once I saw this one. :)

  • excellent, really did have the whole John Woo vibe nailed. How much did the film cost because it looked expesive?

  • Saw this on myspace a while ago. Crazy
