Eberytime I listen to their music, I always say, "I wa born in the wrong decade" I wish I was there to watch them perform... Follow them around the world! :)
Pete Best was thrown out, essentially, as he was an average drummer. And he was replaced by a top session guy - Ringo.
Doesn't happen now. Bad musicians can still make a living if they have the "look" and the "style.
You know, back in the 60s, Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Richards, Clapton, Beck - they all paid their dues in the studio, doing session work, before they ever got a shot at the big time
They got so tight playing 10 hour sets in Germany.
Plus, remember, they were all superb musicians, even before they got a record deal. Ringo was one of the top session players in the UK, even before he joined. And John, Paul, and George had also done a lot of session work.
Most musicians these days are amateurs. They learn it as they go. Back in the 1960s, if you weren't a top musician, you weren't in a band. You had to do the session stuff first
@CallumJStewart so true. there was a story about ringo playing a different drum beat from another song. he can't hear what the boys at the front are playing due to the crowd screaming.
@MetrazolElectricity Good point. I get so tired of comments about the audiences in the late 50s and 60s being "dead" or "bored" because they sit politely and listen. People from later generations just don't recognized civil behavior and paying respect to the artists.
The coolest part about new audiences is that destruction and the looting of the city after the concert. That and all the fire and explosions. That's cool, heh heh.
Looks like the Beatles were sweating out there on that hot Summer's night.

Youre right. The Beatles were utter professionals. Great musicians who'd learned their craft for many years.

No monitors, or earphones back then.
I seriously bet Ringo couldn't even hear what song Paul was introducing. He probably had the set memorised, and forgot it

@CallumJStewart Pro's Been playing since they were 14 to 16. Best band EVER!

There were no monitors in 1965 either. The Beatles couldn't hear anything they were playing.
