@LindaRufous I am not a saddle seat person, and it my least favorite discipline as it tends to lend itself very easily to abuse. That said, this is a very ignorant comment. Her seat (while not at the horse's natural balance point) is still directly over the horse's weight bearing ribs above the sternum. Also, notice how the foreword set stirrup bars are almost exactly where they are on a dressage saddle, so a light seat will keep the weight much more foreword than it looks.
Any discipline can be abusive, and in this situation, it is obvious that the horse is happy. He ears are forward and he shows no sign of anger or discomfort, even when another person on the ground approaches him. Don't stereotype people just on the discipline they train in. Draft horses are bred to pull large carts, making a small horse do it would be abusive. These horses are bred to be gaited like this and it happens naturally and painlessly unless trained otherwise by the few cruel trainers.
how would you like it if i said that. I havn't even been to a rodeo, much less ridden western! I don't think that! Yes, there are people in saddle seat that sore their horses, most don't do that. Only hard driven trainer with no heart do. Trainers in western and jumping abuse their horses. And everything else! But most DONT!
"English is mean. They force horses to jump 7 feet tall!" or
"Dressage is abuse, they make their horses do turns, twist and other fancy stuff that is painfull to the horse"
Okay, first, i never realized how many idiots are on youtube till now. Saddle seat is NOT abuse. I ride saddle seat. The thing, people who say it, haven't even rode saddleseat so they get confused. It is understandably to think when first seeing it "that doesnt look right" But to call it abuse with out even trying it, thats dumb. Saddlebred are bred to slow gait, rack and trot with their hooves high.
"western is abuse, the saddle is heavy, they force their heads down and the rodeos are cruel"
And before anyone goes off on training aids, the 'stretchies' seem to be a favorite to attack. Have you ever done resistance training with a band? If that hurts you, you need to see a doctor because something is wrong with you. What IS cruel is what many WALKING HORSE people do to their horses. Walking Horses DO NOT do saddleseat. It has become so different and cruel it's not even the same discipline anymore.
The shoes saddleseat horses wear are not cruel. They can only enhance the horse's movement, they can't MAKE the movement happen. Many horses are born 'ground searchers'. They need that extra weight to help them or they move in this way that makes them look like they don't know the distance to the ground. Not to mention pads are very therapeutic and MANY non-saddleseat horses wear them for comfort purposes.
I have been riding saddleseat for 12 years, and it is in no way cruel or unnatural. The horses step high on their own, it's all in the angles of their bones in their legs and the build of their shoulders, neck, and back. You can't MAKE a horse step high, it's not possible. I tried for years to get my little mare to, you can see videos of me riding her on my channel, and she just couldn't do it. Wasn't built for it.
i have seen the vidios of jess riding and she looks like a great rider and boomber looks like a beautiful horse!!! if ur such a bitch to say mean things about other people tham maby u should of been stiitng on that horses back the day the acident happend!!!!!!!
@thecowgirlandherhors its not unatural for the horse, they are BRED to be able to do this, unlike jumping were the horses are taken over 5ft+ jumps, now im not hating on jumpers at all, because they treat there hroses well and so they are willing to jump the courses, but if you watch saddle bred foals, they carry there heads & tails high and lift there feet, horses this breed are natural preformers, you dont new foals jumping 2 feet willingly, again i have nothing against other riding disaplins
oh.my.gosh. what a pretty horse!!!!!hahahaa every time i watch a saddle bred i laugh at myself id preobs fail hard if i tried to ride one xD i know this is an odd question but could teach a saddle bred to do like a western jog??
beautiful horse!
