  • Well, WHOEVER it is (and it does appear to be Johnny Preston), it's the version I remember and loved when I was a child. :-)

  • The best Johnny Preston version I could find and it is labelled Sonny James.

  • This is not Sonny James; this is the inferior Johnny Preston version.

  • this is not sonny james, this sucks

  • This not Sonny James!

  • @JDGerst405 I agree! this is the original. I heard sonny's version a couple a weeks ago ridin with my father an knew it wasnt the same. This is Mr. Preston without a doubt!!!

  • Thanks TheJoey1978 for the info about the Big Bopper writing this song. I for one did not know that. I do know though that the Big Bopper, J.P. Richardson, wrote "White Lighting" which was George Jones' big hit of 1959. It just might have been George's first number one song. And thanks for the post, whoever it is.

  • who?

  • This isn't Sonny James.

  • love it !

  • Who CARES whether it's Sonny James or Johnny Preston???? It sounds great regardless. If you can't say anything nice, don't say ANYTHING!!! People put these songs here for your enjoyment...why not just keep quiet and appreciate it?

  • @sdbclement We can still enjoy it, but it's nice to know who you're actually listening to. I'm sure Sonny James and Johnny Preston wouldn't have liked being misrepresented. The person who uploaded this really should fix the title.

  • @tenpercenter One,or both, of the singers is dead so they won't care either way and yes it is nice to know who you are listening to.My point is simply that one of the commentors felt the need to capitalize the word "NOT" in his post to show that he/she was pretty irritated about the error when there is no need to get mad at the poor guy who nicely put the song on here for us to enjoy. They could have nicely said, "I think that might be Johnny Preston's version" (oh well, onward & upward) :)

  • this is NOT Sonny James, its actually the 1960 version by Johnny Preston

  • I think this is the Johnny Preston version, not the Sonny James version.

  • @countryfan73 yup, Johnny Preston version. You can tell because the refrain sounds like pop music.
