  • cool

  • are some free? like is luigis mansion?i really want the chance to play it.

  • @cenetor69 Luigi's Mansion is a Gamecube game. Gameube games are not available on

    Wii Virtual Console.

  • does this still work?

  • is this even legal?!

    somebody please reply

  • No it isn't.

  • wow thx... btw i love ur tv/projector.. wahtever it is

  • how many points do you lose when switching countries?

    this is very interesting indeed.

  • In gonna try japan they always release awesome games there before in da US.

  • awsome tv

  • Too bad we can't do that for going on Japanese Wii Shop Channel :(:(:(. And even guys from Japan can't offer games from their countries, that's just too sad.

  • Nop snot really s.a.d.d.

  • now i can buy super mario rpg from europe thank you!

  • The song makes me laugh for some reason.

  • nice tv

  • Does it matter what region or country you are in to start with? I have tried to do this but cannot seem to see all the countries available... I am trying to get to Europe's Wii shops to get C64 games and I live in the US... any suggestions??

  • i can do a swap europe games for american

  • can i [please ask how many points do you loose when you swap countrys as it says i will loose all my points also does austraila still do mario lost levels

  • I changed my country from USA to Canada and lost no points.

  • thats awesome, cant wait to get a wii =)

  • Even though you loose points, I WANNA TRY THIS!

  • Too bad this doesn't work for all countries in the world, only the ones in the American continent. The PAL people are lucky because they can get th UK games without living there. For everyone that doesn't live in Canada, USA or Mexico, they need to change the country to one of those.

  • ...Does this work with WiiWare?

  • im in argentina (no wii shop at all) and i changed to mexico. then bought some points and games. then changed to usa to buy other games!! it works!

  • Wow, felicidades por tener los juegos. Me imaginaba que funcionaria.

  • does it say "original zelda games missing?"

and how do you know if it is in the same format?

  • is zelda majora's mask in any region?

  • is mario party 1,2, or 3 on the virtual console

  • no they are not

  • i LOVE the virtual console!! Since i discoverd it, its my mission to get all vc games there are!! It's just sad there's just 4 rooms for the vc games:(

  • you know, the wii menu DOES have 42 slots for games

  • what is the name of the song on the video?

  • sin and punishment? im sure its that

  • hhhhmmm... which N64 games does japan has that we dont in the VC!? /=

  • can you download japanese channels?

  • Okay seriously now do you lose points, I want to try this now.

  • yeh like paul2730 said dont you lose wii points if you swap regions, it's not really worth losing 1000 or 2000 points just for a couple of games.

  • Does this still work? I couldnt find countries like Japan in my Wii or any country expect those within pal area.

  • Heh... I got a Europe Wii and swiched to Japanese. Lots of games there!

  • dont try this i did and lost all my wii points plus new zealand has the same games as we have pointless really

  • if im in teh us, and i want europe/japenese games, wiil it work? :o

  • I live in South Africa, our lazy apple core haven't finished our website so this is the only way I can get games.

Also if you have a PAL Wii you won't get anything from America. Probably Vice Versa for their Wii.

  • Indeed.

We can't change into a european region.

Which really sucks cuz our line-up of VC games kinda sucks.

There are a few games worth getting.

    BRING ON CASTLEVANIA III!!

    sigh...

  • That's actually a pretty cool idea.

  • Is it possible to get Japans VC games?

  • I heard that it wasn't possible unless you have a US console....

  • Well I do... :D

I guess I might try it... but I think I heard something that you lose Wii Points when you switch countries because of an update or something...? Someone explain?

  • I have a UK wii ao can i get US games on it if i set the thing to US?

  • WTF!Why isn't Netherlands or United Kingdom on my country list?

  • WTF!! United Kingdom isn't in my list!

  • lol! w00t u picked the uk!!^_^

  • lol, I thought the same thing! Whoo! Go Brits! I didn't know we had the turbo grafix?

  • wtf?

  • will this make it so if I delete a VC game, I cant re-download it free?

  • Yes you can AFAIK, but you'll need to change country back to the same one you bought the game in first or it doesn't show up in your list.

Also note that since a recent update 2.2(??) you lose points when changing region.

  • Hudson is now releasing TG-16 games in Australia as of July

  • I want to buy some sega games while my console says its on japan because they are cheaper on that region (600 points instead of 800). I was wondering can I use wii points already stored on my system or do I have to buy them with a credit card while my system is setup as if it were in japan. Can any1 plz answer this PLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're from NZ? So am I!

  • OK.. please answer me this question: If I buy a Wii in USA, and I buy point cards in Mexico, will the cards work well in the American Wii???

  • Yes I guess Mexico Is still in the North American terrority.

  • So you're telling me that I, a U.S. Wii owner, could potentially get PC-Engine games like "Dracula X: Rondo of Blood", as well as MSX games, on my Wii? HOLY BALLS! I must try this!

  • NO. It's still tied to the region. American, PAL, and Japan

  • Oops!

  • ... so if I want to download a game in italian. All I have to do is select italia and will the language of the game be in italian instead of english?

  • lets hope they release smb lost levels(a.k.a smb2 in japan.) in the u.s.

  • Does this actually work?

  • simple trick but good one :) That's weird that there's no turbographx games on NZ :/ but looks like it's not a problem anymore with that trick now ;p

  • because the turbographx wasnt released in NZ and austrailia.

  • There are now.

  • is it cheaper to buy wii points in other countries?

  • I think their the same cost everwhere.

  • I Tried This Trick....Did Not Work

Oh Well Not Like there's anything really great iam missing out on

  • cool i live in da uk so i'll do this for us and jp games fanx for da vid!

  • well im going to try today but will i lose my 200points i have left?

  • Nope, in the video he had some points left over and then he switched back to New Zealand, and kept his points.

  • for some reason australia dont get TG-16 games which pisses me off, so if i change my settings to UK, i loose my wii points.

    Nintendo Australia are ass holes.

  • american wiis only have american countries, how do you change to japan?

  • I was only able to get into American countries. How do I get to japan?! Ugh...

  • Wow. I gotta try this.

  • this song is so great with the vid, and yes, it works, thatnks! ^_^

  • whoa, cool!

  • Does this work with USA to Japan buying?

  • Dude this video matches so well with your video. Well done too!

  • check out the video game talk on my channel!!!

  • Japan is PAL actually. Would this method affect your current console's tie with NOE Club Membership?

  • WRONG! Japan is NTSC and I should know being a long time japanese game and movie importer

  • PAL is based in Euroupe and Austrailia, new zealand and so on. From Asia and USA/Canada are NTSC

  • Wow, that was pretty bad.

First of all, the version you have is Ver. 2.0E, meaning the EUROPEAN VERSION. -_- Then you switched it to the UK to confuse us.

    Nice try, bud.

  • A load of rubbish, this has nothing to do with region locking, they are just cross country shopping using the countries that Nintendo provide, for wait for it..the locked PAL region!. PAL games work on PAL machines duh.

  • Mony Mony by Billy Idol.

  • @AMWNZ Damn copyright Nazis of WMG had to take the audio down... they are so butthurt.

BTW, I do like the video itself, though. I'll have to think of trying that if I wanted to try cross-regioning and get games from Japan (I live in the USA, where both countries use NTSC).

  • what´s the name of that song?

  • Is that illegal?

  • if it was illegal, i highly doubt that they would post it all over the internet

  • Well nintendo wouldn't have made virtual console if it was illegal...

  • that's pretty cool, though I agree with carterparks, it's a shame that Japan got all the killer apps.

  • Yeah, this was a neat hack. Anyone wanna vote on when they think Nintendo will patch it? I say in 3 days.

  • We need to lobby nintendo because the PAL VC games are the slower bordered versions

  • Has someone seen the Argentinian VC list? I think it's the same as the American one, but I'm not sure. Anyway, piracy is legal in argentina, so I will play this on emulators....

  • that's good, because I hate region restrictions, plus they are useless anyway. =(

  • I can tell you, as an American living in Japan, that my Japanese Wii doesn't even have the option to change the country as is seen in this video. That menu simply doesn't exist on Japanese Wiis. So, that would at least mean that Japanese Wiis cannot purchase other NTSC games from other countries. Don't know about America.

  • I feel your pain -- same situation with me. I can't play US games or read Japanese -- I feel so limited!!!

  • billy idol for the win

  • is there a lmiit to change regions ?

  • US wii cannot buy Japanese games, Japan does not show up on the countries list.

  • You CANNOT buy across NTSC/PAL regions with this "method" but I think that's only because of the fact that you can't select those countries in the country settings. Therefore, if someone wrote a proxy to translate requests so that they come from whatever country you chose, it may work.

Yes, the song is Mony Mony, by the one and only Billy Idol.

  • If you can buy games for other PAL regions, can the same be done with NTSC? (us and japan)

  • Nice one, I'm assuming this is because NZ is a PAL region as is the UK? Does it work across other regions, so can a NZ resident buy Jap or US (NTSC) games?

The music is Billy Idol - Mony Mony

  • wat is the name of tht song lol

  • lol amazing song

  • Is there any site that has a good summary of which VC games are available in which regions?

  • That's wonderful. I imagine that my US Wii could buy japanese games too...

Thanks for info and nice music +)

  • @madmax: No, how should it work? This is the Euro-Pal version of the Wii, so you can just Shop within the EU, so if you live in Germany, you could buy some english SM64 :P

  • Does it work with buying japanese and american releases?

  • japan is ntsc so no.
