Whenever I hear her sing.. I regret that I can't understand French language although my husband is French. She has such a magnificent voice . A natural talent .In her leage ,as a singer, I think she was uncomparable. I am sad to think that she is gone from us.
@MrPsychopompos Here is what my translator program came up with:
Eyes which bring down mine, / a laugh which gets lost on its mouth / Here is the portrait without modification / of the man to which I belong. / when it takes me in the arms / and He speaks to me any bottom / I see life in rose. / he says to me words of love, / everyday words / and this makes me something. / it entered my heart / a part of happiness / and I know reason...
@John1948FourC ---- If I were you I would never trust those automatic translations, unless you are able to edit them afterwards. Resulting errors could be so funny, if uncorrected! You better take some French lessons, and then, after a semester or two, with a good dictionary, you could do better than Google, I am sure. N´est-ce pas?
@MrPsychopompos I have absolutely no interest in learning French. I only responded to your French language post to be polite to a guest to my channel. I do understand the limitations of translator software.
If you sincerely knew French Language, Culture and Literature, You would not respond in such a condescending manner. The REAL truth is that translation is impossible. The core meaning is locked inside a Language that is far more subtle than English, having roughly 30,000 or so less words - and you would have responded in pure French, just to be annoying. "Mais la gosse ne le voyait pas..."
So beautiful, so sad. I first heard her music in the 1960s. I saved this as "Edith Piaf, Painful Montage." Both beautiful and terrible, which I suppose is "sublime." But beautiful and terrible apart, but in one statement, still says all I have to say.
Sehr Gut!!
