  • colorful, sparkling touch screen... COOL technology!

  • w0w

  • cool touchscreens. . they should have created a longer demo for this stuff. .

  • @cyclestring did you see the other one about science on a sphere??

  • angry birds

  • But will it blend?! :D

  • @klappinsounds Is your blender big enough? but yes it does blend the output from 6 HD projectors together into one big image.

  • If they put their head, and arms on it at 0:42 then would it look like a Timelord regenerating?

  • Awesome! Great job!

  • Hello, I made an multitouch table, with 140 Leds. Actually it's doesn't work, with my optitrack V100R2. The camera ins't recognized with CCV. I have downloaded your version of CCV. But it's always fail (W. Vista).

Did you have you ever had a success experiance with the V100R2 ? Thanks

  • @nokthib We started with some v100 cameras which we use for tracking persons, and did some experiments with those. No problems there. When we needed to buy more for the big screen, we choose the cheaper v120. So it should work.

  • @1LLUS Thanks for your answer. Did you use a special driver ? program ? for use those V100 with TUIO ? Thanks !

  • because my V100R2 isn't recognized by CCV1.3 and 1.4. The V120 Works directly ? Thanks

  • @nokthib CCV does not support optitrack camera's out of the box. We had to add this functionality to it. The modified version you probably downloaded was for when we were still using the v100 cameras and we also were using optitrack's old camera sdk. Recently optitrack switched to a new sdk and I don't know if the new drivers are still compatible with their old sdk. One thing you could try is to use ccv 1.4 with the optitrack directshow filter.

  • dibs

  • @ForkInAnOutletTV sorry, you can't dibs this screen ;-)

  • Ga voor Philips werken ofzo :P

  • HADOUKEN!

  • so you guys wrote all the programs and setup all these high tech devices... but couldnt cut the video short? lol jk no offense

  • I want to enact an epic Kamehameha battle with a worthy enemy using this...

  • Spectacular, congratulations for the great video

    Touchscreen10 team

  • Couple of questions about some specifics. Do you have any extra details on the screen material? I've been wanting to try to pull this off (on a much smaller scale) with a projector behind the screen and would love to know what kind of material you used.

As well what was the model on those Barco HD projectors you are using? Definitely not in my budget but would love to see specs for getting something similar.

Awesome project and thanks for sharing.

  • @ripsup The screen material is 3mm dark grey acrylic with a diffuser on the front viewing side. The projectors are NH12 (both screen and projectors are from Barco). But if you only want to have a touchscreen, you probably don't need those projectors. Note that we had this setup for some time now for real-time 3d stereo viewing which is the reason why we have such fancy equipment. Recently we only added touch to it.

  • @1LLUS Thanks I found a site that has the material. The project I am wanting to do isn't a touchscreen one but what I wanted was a curved screen to project on from behind. BUT after seeing the touchscreen part you are tempting me though. Where it would go though is not someplace that someone would walk up to but not saying I wouldn't try that else where like a conference room. :)

  • @ripsup Out of curiosity where did you find the material? With multiple projectors, the diffuser has to be really good to prevent seeing the hotspots from the lens through the screen. The dark acrylic is needed to prevent halo's around bright objects due to internal reflections (the dark part quickly dampens those)

  • @1LLUS This was website I found.

The Evonik ACRYLITE 7D513 - Dark Grey is what I figured you were using? Am I right in this thought or did I find the wrong thing?

    Thanks

  • @ripsup I don't know. I have come across dark grey acrylic material, which was intended for projection, but it didn't have any diffuse layer on the outside. So with that material they basically used a piece of slightly ruffed up acrylic. It is not the same as we have. We have a dark acrylic substrate with a white coating on one side. That coating makes it diffuse and it works very very good.

Now when it comes to touch, it might not be the best choice as that coating isn't very scratch resistant.

  • @1LLUS Do you know the name of the material you are using or possibly where I would be best to find it at? In the end I'm looking to do something about 1/3rd the size of yours using 2 projectors. Thanks

  • @ripsup No, I don't know. We got it from BARCO, the company that also makes the projectors. If you send me your contact details in a PM, I could ask a sales person from BARCO to contact you. (I'm definitely NOT working for them).

  • @1LLUS Hum wouldn't take the URL. do a search for "peauproductions" and "diffusers" and it should come up.

  • @SierraHawkProduction

theres no "graphic" cards in the world... learn to spell...

  • @pufixas good job being a douche

  • I want to see Plasma Pong on this.

  • Sure, we can create the largest touch screen in the world. Cutting the end off video's will be our next project.

  • psh, I already have five of these on father's yacht.

  • looks like firebending O.O

  • @estalactico any suggestions?? sofar we have iWall (but that's being used elsewhere) and Touch Theater.

  • @1LLUS let me think about it, if I come up with something I´ll leave you a comment

  • The technology is the future!

  • only 4900x1700 pixels? Is that a mistake? Because that sounds pretty low, my cheap 24" LCD is 1920x1200, I'd expect a wall to be at least 10x that.

  • Is there an app like that for the iphone, that when touched produces that light effect???

  • I love how all these huge multi-touch screens are just used to move pretty colours around.

  • OMG-facts anyone?

  • as if you wouldent get two people screaming "KA ME HA ME HAA" or "GALET GUN" on this thing

  • That´s a huge screen :D, shared@blog.rvlt.tv

  • PORN!

  • (Insert comment about how OMG Facts brought you here)

  • Cool

  • Clean the thing now :D

  • Damnit, no 16:9 resolution :-(

  • @AnonSphere Such a number is kind of useless for a curved screen. That's why we specify the angle. If you were to match it with a flat screen that number will end up being something like 57:9 (assuming you stand in the center). Now that's what you can call a wide screen :-). And yes we make 3D movies to match that.

  • @1LLUS

I know, buddy - you would need a ladder for 16:9

  • @1LLUS I know this is kind of off topic but I would really appreciate it if you told me where you got the music from? PS: Great job with the tec :-D

  • @morty4815162342 the webpage is in the text belonging to the youtube movie

  • OMG facts

  • Dear Santa.....

  • thumbs up if you want one of these

  • Holy Shit this is fucking awesome!!!

  • Expelliarmus!

  • Very cool. But's lets see some real world applications.

  • Why is this video twice as long as it needs to be?

  • @helliop to end exactly at 2:22

  • @1LLUS is that a tribute to someone/something?

  • @1LLUS but it already ends at exactly 1:00 (the good part at least).

  • @1LLUS conspiracy?!

  • @Kolosos007 could be ;-)

  • @1LLUS why exactly at 2:22?

  • @helliop Idk if this has been answered yet, but youtube does this thing where when you upload a video that has a lot of black at the end, that the actual video content would be better quality. Its just a little trick

That or they did it on accident...

  • @HiImSylar No, I didn't know that. Why would youtube think a movie would be better with a lot of black at the end. Doesn't make sense to me.

  • @1LLUS I dont think it was really intentional, but rather something that their compression software just happened to do

  • @HiImSylar (look at the 4th comment of this video). What is remarkable though that apparently the black part 20 seconds before the end is more watched than the rest of the black. Even better (all according to the youtube statistics) that part is even watched more than the average movie with more or less the same length. My guess is that with the black part people click near the end to see what might be there, whereas with normal movies the end might get skipped. Its something I just noticed.

  • BEST PART 1:24 - 2:22

  • FUCKING AMAZING!

  • The particle demo is actually MSAFluid by Memo Akten which was then integrated into MT4j.

  • @MultitouchWork of course, this is mentioned in the text belonging to the movie at youtube. After finishing the hardware and software we installed some existing multitouch demos.

  • Great Work people. I would love to have this and use it with my PC....

  • This is Damn good. I would love to have this baby. Awsome

  • "Using multitouch Vista" ... WTF ?

  • The best part begins at 1:22

    //Posted from ShuffleTube

  • @Zevasa very odd, they can build a giant fahrenheit 411 touchscreen but cannot edit the end of the video out

  • Awesome project.

I noticed that in the paint demo there is only one menu and everyone has to paint with the same color. I imagine this is because the system cannot recognize individual users so it is not possible for everyone to have their own color palette menu. Any plans on making this recognize individual users (perhaps using kinect cameras)? I see a lot of potential for this project once that limitation is solved

  • @jnajarro03 You are right of course. Any static menu with such a big screen is a bad idea. You don't want to walk to one side of the screen to change a color using a menu and walk back again. Every user should be able to have its own menu. Identifying users is a lot harder (even a kinect can get confused). Perhaps some simple rules like 'a paint brush uses the color from the most nearby menu' are workable. Lots of questions, lots of ideas... time to do research by the students.

  • thumbs up for plasma pong!

  • Скільки там задіяно, 8 чи 6 HD проекторів? Уявляю собі Шум позаду екрану)

  • @stripedM 6 full HD projectors. The good thing is that most of the noise in BEHIND the screen!

  • This is purely incredible :)

  • Even this was better than M Knight Shamalayn's crap version of Airbender!

  • Not impressed. I have one twice as big in my WC.

  • круто! хочу себе такой :)

  • AVADA KEDAVRA

  • Was the guy who made Plasma Pong involved in any of this? Those particles and plasma effects are awfully similar...

  • @20eric07 I don't know. After we made the hardware, we wanted to have some quick demo. As mentioned in the text belonging to the movie on youtube, we used MT4J. The plasma effect is one of their demos.

  • @20eric07 you can find this demo at msavisuals dt com/msafluid

  • @1LLUS Ah! It says on the page it was inspired by Plasma Pong. Good times!

  • really cool

  • So... Christmas will be here again, in some time. I was wondering if you'd like to give me one?

  • Want O.O

  • i wonder how much will cost screen protectors for these!!

  • @magas263 Good question. We hope around 50 cents (by finding a cheap supplier for white cotton gloves).

  • Could you please tell me where the music is from? I think i know it from somewhere but just don't know where from.

  • @paddotk the music is mentioned in the text attached to the movie at youtube

  • @1LLUS oh srry i apparently read the description too fast. Thanks for the reply :)

  • 0:45 anyone else immediately think of two wizards duelling?

Also, this would be EPIC in Stereo!

  • @shwhjw It DOES stereo but only in Linux mode (our usual way of driving the system)

  • @shwhjw woooa me!!! I have thought of Harry Potter :)

  • Вот это понимаю, дипломная работа!

  • #00m37s FAIL

  • @mezvan @sanadTech @nickds7@SirJayem We are very good at making black movies. We hired some very good actors for the last part and we are considering making a full length, 1.5 hour version of it. The color part was just a mistake ;-)

  • My favorite part is also 1:28 to 2:22

  • I liked to part where the two guys threw magic around like it was nothing.

  • The las minute (1:22 to 2:22) is amazing !!!

  • "first we had the itouch, then the ipad, now the inevitable iwall."

considering that vista was used, this is probably my lame attempt at irony.

  • Wanna one of this in my living room LOL

  • My favorite part of this video is from 1:23 to 2:22, really awesome part, i like the black screen alot!

  • I'm not surprised we're getting such amazing psychedelic creations, and it's only the verrrry beginning.

  • 0:44 HADOUKEN

  • @radscorponok give me a hint, to better understand your comment

  • @1LLUS hadouken is an energy attack from a video game (street fighter or something) :p

  • @sherrifster because it also does linux ;-) However when we use windows, only one pc is driving the screen with only one graphics card. That's a lot easier on the standard demos.

We use linux to drive the system in 3D active stereo mode, with one pc and one graphics card per projector. Gives a lot more graphics power. In that mode there is one master pc connected to the six slaves. The master pc receives the touch events.

  • Beetje groot doen.

  • 0:34 is the best part.

  • wow, ...

    Can you buy it?

  • @CoolstartGO Yes, check armadavision for similar screens

  • Around 0:58 you can see that the screen is transparent

  • Wow, connect a Kinect controller to it and you got yourself a real world CSI Las Vegas screen :-)
